Mia’s pov
The feeling of the world moving as if it was falling right from underneath my feet forced me to pry my eyes open and I weakly blinked up at the glaring face of Lorenzo.
It wasn’t until he was laying me in the bed that it registered on me that he had lifted me off the ground.
“Nooooo,” I whined as my back connected with the softness of the sheets. That wasn’t what I needed right now, what I needed was to stay on the cold floor.
I attempted to roll off the bed but Lorenzo wasn’t having any of that, and when I glanced up at him moments later, I realized that he was… furious.
“What happened to you?” He let out as his hand connected with my forehead and I watched as his eyes widened a little.
“I dunno… was tired.” I felt the word get slurred right from my throat. Lorenzo let out a sigh and through my half lidded eyes. I watched as he massaged his forehead while breathing out a long sigh.
“Why didn’t you think of using something on noticing that you were sick?” He asked as his hand connected with my forehead once again, and this time, a small wince crossed his face.
“W- wasn’t sick, just tired.” I whispered, and when his eyes narrowed at me, I swallowed the rest of my words and averted my gaze, not wanting to anger him when he had clearly just arrived from his trip.
Lorenzo let out a long sigh before lifting off the bed and exiting the bedroom. I let out a relieved sigh once he was gone, and after waiting for a few moments to ensure that he wasn’t returning, I forced myself back to the ground with everything in me. As soon as the coolness of the ground connected with my skin, a relieved sigh escaped my lips.
I let my eyes slide closed and I tried to sleep over because my head along with every other part of my body was hurting, and I was almost succeeding but that was before the door of my bedroom flew open. My eyes flew open at once and I blinked at the doorway where Lorenzo was positioned at.
He flipped the lights on a moment later and I let out a small groan at the sudden onslaught of bright lights. I had turned on only a really dim light before I laid in bed this morning, and that was what had been on when Lorenzo first arrived here, and because of the lack of lights, I hadn’t been able to actually see his face. But now that bright lights were turned on, I could see every bit of him, and he didn’t look pleased in the slightest way.
Instead, he looked very furious.
I bit on my bottom lip as I warily watched him march towards me. He stopped beside my frame on the ground, looking completely unimpressed and irritated.
“What the hell are you doing on the ground once again?” He demanded and I pursed my lips while wishing he wouldn’t ask me any questions now that I had little to no energy left in me.
“Trying to fall asleep.” I mumbled and after a moment, he let out a scoff before pointing at the bed.
“And why are you trying to fall asleep on the ground? What happened to the bed?” He demanded and I sneezed a couple of times before I could respond.
“Cause the bed feels hot and the ground feels cool.” I responded, and I’d have rolled my eyes if I wasn’t feeling extremely tired because it wasn’t that obvious enough.
“Fuck, you really are dumber than I gave you credits for.” He muttered along with a string of curses and then before I could attempt getting a word out, he was scoping me off the ground and depositing me in the bed.
“You’re feeling this way because you’re obviously sick, and sleeping on the ground is only gonna worsen the sickness, you seriously can’t be telling me you aren’t aware of this.” He continued and when I remained silent, he let out another curse before he began to unbutton the shirt I had on.
My heart flew into my throat at once and on reflex, my hand moved up to grasp his wrist. He grew still at first and stared at my hand for a few seconds before gently tugging my hand off, and then he let out a sigh before speaking.
“You need a shower.” He announced.
“Huh?”
“You’re clearly burning up. You have a nasty fever and it needs to break out in order to move you out of harm’s way, so, a shower it is.” Once he was done, he began to unbutton my shirt once again, and this time, I didn’t bother stopping him even though I felt extremely embarrassed at the fact that he’s gonna see me naked all over again.
“You okay?” He muttered as he tugged the shirt off my body and I nodded my head twice, because I was sure I couldn’t get a word out right now.
He took the shorts I had on off, and then he unceremoniously carried me right into the bathroom and set me on the ground. I leaned against the wall as the floor wobbled before my eyes and eyed him wearily.
“A- are you gonna leave now?” I mumbled with my cheeks on fire. Lorenzo let out a scoff as my question sank in.
“Why would I do that? You can barely stand properly.” He reminded me and then he proceeded to help me shower.
Basically, he held me underneath the cold shower and I clung to him while trembling like a leaf.
Once that was over, he dressed me in a pair of pants and a huge shirt, all of which I had no idea of where they came from because I was certain there was nothing like that in my closet.
But they smelled so much of him.
He laid me in bed after that in a sea of blankets and then he brought forth some pills for me to take. It was after I had swallowed the pills that he remembered to ask if I had eaten, and when I hesitantly shook my head, it was obvious that he had been on the verge of strangling me.
I was left alone after that, and after a few minutes, he returned with food and made sure to get some into me.
Throughout the entire thing, a weird feeling settled in my stomach and the space around my chest seemed to be tightening up from the amount of feelings pulsing through that space.
The fact that he was taking care of me made my heart flutter helplessly, even though I know that’s the last thing I should be feeling.
He clearly didn’t have to do half of what he did literally as soon as he discovered that I was sick.
