Mia’s pov
After the heads up Lorenzo had been considerate enough to give me, the little bravado that I had managed to muster, completely crumbled at once.
I bit on my bottom lip while glancing around. Lorenzo was still situated beside him, a glass of untouched drink in his hand while his second one was still firmly pressing into the curve of my hips like a searing iron.
I puffed out a small breath and tried to get my bearings together. A few stutters kept going on around me, which is indication enough that our pictures are being taken at different intervals by the press, and I’m sure Lorenzo wouldn’t be pleased one bit should I appear anything but confident and in my element, in the pictures.
As I worried my lips once again, I wondered which unfortunate person– or people is going to be Lorenzo’s prey tonight. Someone walked up to Lorenzo and whispered something into his ear, in which he gruffed at before giving a tense nod of his head right before the person disappeared into the crowd once again.
I wanted to ask what it was that was going to happen tonight, but I knew I’d get nothing in response, which was why I held my tongue.
I could feel so many lustful eyes on me right now, from the moment I had made my way in here with Lorenzo, and they were all making me feel uncomfortable. The look on their faces was that of someone who wants to tear my dress off my frame and eat me up at once. The looks in their eyes were completely different from the one I sometimes catch in Lorenzo’s eyes. The looks in their eyes were like the one I saw in Romero’s eyes right as he attempted to force himself on me on our wedding night.
Lorenzo glanced at me moments later with an arched eyebrow and I swallowed emptily, and then I remembered what he had asked me to act like before we left the house. I hesitated at first before reaching up and pressing my lips against the underside of his chin, suppressing a shiver because his grip around me tightened at once.
“I can see everyone’s eyes on you, every eyes hungry and filled with desire, they all want to have a piece of you.” He stated, voice husky as he regarded me with dark eyes. I blinked up at him and tried not to shiver against him, choosing to remain silent because I didn’t know what to say next.
“Every man here wants to have you, do you know that?”
I shook my head slowly, cheeks flaming. Lorenzo tsked before continuing.
“They all do, that’s starkly obvious on their faces. They all want you mostly because you’re on my arms– they are all jealous, sneaky snakes who always want what’s mine, from my empires, all the way to my woman.” As he continued, my mouth fell open and a tremor coursed through my veins at the part where he referred to me as his woman, even though I knew he didn’t mean it literally.
“But, they can only look. They won’t be able to touch, ever.” As he spoke, he trailed off as he lowered his hand till it was cupping my butt, and at once, the color in my cheeks deepened while I tried to stand still. “Only I get to look and touch. Only I get to have you all to myself. You belong to me and only me. Seeing you on my arms tonight should be a clear enough message.”
If my heart had been pounding before, then now it was about to tear out of the middle of my chest. I blinked up at him multiple times as his words washed over my entire body as it settled in my head, and then before I could even attempt to respond even though I wasn’t sure of what it was that I’d actually say– a loud voice which boomed from speakers, announced that the auction is about to kick off, and for everyone to head to their respectful seats.
As I walked alongside Lorenzo to our seats, which was at the area reserved for the really important people, my knees wobbled a little and If it wasn’t for Lorenzo’s grip on my hand, I’m sure I’d have crumbled on the ground in a mess of limbs.
As we settled down, my crisis over how Lorenzo had once again reminded me that I belonged to him and no one else was put into a corner of my chest, and a more important thing to worry over took over the front of my mind, which is the fact that it’s definitely going to go down tonight, and that it wasn’t going to look good at all.
As the auction started off, Lorenzo was relaxed as ever, but the few people’s faces which I was able to get a glimpse of, in this particular area, indicated that they weren’t comfortable being here right now, and it was definitely because of no one else but Lorenzo’s presence.
As time went by and nothing happened, I wondered if the person or people who Lorenzo was going to take care of tonight is in this same place which we’re currently sitting in.
An hour into it, I leaned into Lorenzo as I spoke.
“Aren’t you going to bargain for anything?”
Lorenzo glanced at what the mc currently had raised high, it was a thin diamond necklace which is going off for ten million dollars.
“Not yet, and that’s too cheap for me. And besides, I’m not here to buy shit. I’m here because my men are currently working on switching out the biggest jewelry that’s being auctioned tonight for a counterfeit. Once they’re done, I’m gonna fuck shit up here, teach a few stray goats a lesson, and then we’d be out of here.” He responded and then he arched a brow and before I could even dwell on what he had said, he continued. “Why? You want me to get you the necklace?”
My eyes widened in shock because that wasn’t what I had expected to hear at all, which prompted me into shaking my head at once while my heart pounded hard against my ribs. A small, dark grin tugged at the side of his lips and that was it.
About thirty minutes later, a loud gunshot echoed and as everyone began to panic, I glanced at Lorenzo to see him sporting a dark grin that made terror glide down my spine at once.
