Natasha wanted to help Titiana heal from her lung cancer. From what she understands, the stage of the cancer will determine what type of treatment to be administered. Also, she wants to help her father heal from the stroke that had struck him too.
Although he and her father had fallen out lately, he was still her father at the end of the day. He was only deceived by Zara and Ruby. But the skills required to treat this high level sickness, she does not possess. It’s because she only spent less than a year learning traditional method of medicine from the old blind man at Crying Sun before he was kidnapped.
She then proposed to visit Crying Sun in an attempt to find the blind old man, perhaps, she can bring him over here and beseech him to continue to tutor her. How glad will she be if Titiana gets fully healed and if her father gets healed as well.
Since the following day was the weekend, she only goes to work from Mondays to Friday, she then decided to visit Crying Sun the following day. She will leave this evening by train so she can get to Crying Sun very early the following morning.
While Natasha was busy thinking about her moves, her phone rang and she answered, “Kenji, is there any problem?”
“Not at all. I noticed you haven’t made mention of when the money will be paid.” Kenji was referring to his six hundred thousand dollars advance payment
“The last time we spoke about it, you said I’ll have to pay in cash. Withdrawing that huge sum from Cash in back will be tedious, you know this?” Natasha says.
“Please go to the bank on Monday and do the needful. Mr. Pushkin pays me and my men in cash, I have my reasons for collecting my pay in cash so if you still want my service, I can only advise that I get my money on Monday.”
“Alright.” Then the call came to an end. Is it not even risky for him to have six hundred thousand dollars in cash? Natasha thought. She eventually waved it off. He will know how to handle himself.
A couple of minutes later, one of her children let out a cry so she stood from her seat and went to check on her. She carried the female child in her arms and moved to and fro, Patting the little one on the bottom so she could stop crying. She was yet to figure out why she was crying because most times, when her babies cry, it’s either because they want to eat or they feel uncomfortable, mostly after peeing or defecating on their pampas.
But her female child was clean, her pampas was dry and she had just finished eating a few seconds ago. When she saw that the little one wouldn’t stop crying, she went to sit and examine the baby but there was nothing off. She then brought out her breast and attempted to feed the little one but the little one refused to take of the breast milk.
She stood and continued to move to and fro again, this time, she began to sing a baby song for the little one but rather than for her female child to stop crying, the male child that had been quiet suddenly let out a loud cry.
She huffed frustratingly and walked towards the male child, “sweetheart, can you stop crying? I’m here.” Because sometimes the baby cries when they notice her absence.
Since carrying the two babies in her arms will be a bit tedious, she decided to call on the baby to help her. Before she could call out on the nanny, her doorbell rang.
She wasn’t expecting any visitors so who could be at the door? She wondered. Fortunately, the nanny also appeared, Naomi, the nanny had heard cries of the little ones. She had woken from her nap in an attempt to check up on the kids.
“I heard their cries,” Naomi yawns as she approaches Natasha. She had barely slept for an hour yet she had been working for the past five hours. She was apparently still feeling sleepy.
“Indeed. I can’t seem to figure out what is wrong with them. But someone is at the door, please check who it is.”
Naomi nodded and then proceeded to the door, on opening the door, her heart raced on seeing the tall and mighty figure before her. She suddenly forgot how to breathe.
From a few distance away, Natasha’s voice came through, “who is it?” She quickly added before Naomi would even say a word, “oh my days! She just defecated again. I’ll take her in to wash.” She said even as her voice faded away.
“Wel… Welcome, sir.” She managed to say.
“Are your babies in?”
“Yes, sir.” She answered with a pounding heart. “If you don’t mind, I’d like to see them.”
“You are welcome, sir. Please come with me.” Naomi said and led Dmitry inside.
Dmirey noticed that one of the babies were already crying so he went to where Natasha had dropped the male child and picked her up, the male child struggled to find his fingers and eventually became successful in grabbing one of his fingers. And then the little one’s cries subsided.
“Bring my son, Natasha. The female had already stopped crying, I think what they need is a bath,” Natasha called out from the children’s bathroom.
Naomi’s heart skipped on hearing that. Natasha had referred to the babies as hers, she hoped Dmirey wouldn’t take cognizant of that.
“Excuse me, sir.” Naomi quickly walked away and when she found Natasha, she whispered, “Mr. Dmitry is here.”
“You don’t mean it!” Natasha felt her heart sink into her belly. “Dmitry? Oh my! Did he heard when I referred to my twin as mine?”
“He heard but I’m hoping he doesn’t put mind to it.”
Natasha’s heart began to pound repeatedly, same with Naomi. They are like two fretful rats in the presence of a big cat.
“But we need to prepare for a logical response in case he decides to question us,” Natasha said.
“You are right.” Natasha said and began to think of the most logical resolution to give. “Well, we can just say that’s how you refer to the kids. You practically take them as yours.”
“Do you think he will believe that?” Asked Natasha.
“I honestly do not know. Do you have a better idea?” Naomi asked.
“My brain is blank right now,” Natasha said. “Let’s go back. Staying here for long may arouse suspicion.”
Soon, both women appeared in the living room, masking their anxious faces with a calm one.
“Hi,” Natasha greeted. She almost stuttered but she was fortunately able to control herself.
“These babies…” Dmitry started. His eyes on the male child he was carrying and on the female child Naomi was carrying. “… are so cute.”
Natasha and Naomi exhaled secretly. They had thought he wanted to say something like, ‘these babies, are they yours?’
“I think I should have your number, Naomi. So I won’t come unannounced in the future,” Dmitry said. One could tell from the expression on his face how much he liked the kids.
“Okay sir.” Naomi answered, “I’m thinking, instead of bothering yourself to come over. Whenever you feel like seeing my kids, I can bring them over to your mansion. If that’s okay by you, sir.”
Dmitry rested the baby on his left shoulder and said, “I wonder how these little ones will be by next year.” He sounded like someone that can’t wait for the little ones to grow.
Soon, the male child he was carrying slept off on his shoulder. He then handed it slowly to Natasha since Naomi was already carrying the female child.
“Do you need money to take care of the kids? I want them to live better than this.” Dmirey ignored her suggestion and asked.
Naomi instinctively looked at Natasha for response, Natasha was quick to shake her head, Naomi forced out a chuckle and said, “Mr. Dmitry is so generous. I’ll definitely make sure they get the best life but don’t worry about the money, sir.”
“If you need anything , as long as it pertains to the kids, find a way to contact me.” Dmitry said.
“Most definitely, sir.” Naomi answered. She then asked, “sir, may I ask why you are particularly interested in my kids? Of course it’s an honor to know that the most powerful man in my city likes my kids. I’m just curious.”
Dmitry set his gaze on Natasha even though it wasn’t Natasha that asked the question, “are you sure you do not want to ask Natasha?” He was responding to Naomi but his eyes bore seriously into Natasha.
Natasha lost the ability to breath and her heart crawled out of her closed mouth. She grew numb on the spot, asking herself if he somehow knows she’s the mother of the kids? His answer even carried a bigger meaning.
Naomi became more scared herself, “sir… I may be confused, sir. Natasha is just my nanny. She can’t seem to understand why you are interested in my kids.”
“Is that true, Natasha?” Dmitry asked Natasha.
Natasha’s mouth shivers. She was about to respond when Dmitry spoke, “I’ll take my leave now. When I want to check on the kids in the future, I’ll definitely let you know.” Then he walked away.
Natasha’s butt sank to the chair as soon as he was out of sight. Her heart palpitates seriously. Naomi seemed to be uttering some words but she honestly can’t even process anything. Her head was burning. Has Dmitry found out somehow about her true relationship with the kids? Did he know somehow that the kids are his?
