Natasha resumed work at Woza group of companies the following morning. Her usually stressed face was cool, she looked brighter than she used to appear whenever she comes to work. She wondered if it was because of her encounter with Dmitry yesterday or probably because she’s getting used to modern medical medicine.
As a professional lawyer, adjusting to the modern medical environment was difficult but she’s getting very used to everything now.
She met Pavel on her way to her desk and she greeted, “Hi Pavel.”
“Hi Natasha, we have a new senior staff, hope you get along.” Pavel said, he was holding a large file in the hand.
“I’ve always kept my cool. I shouldn’t have problem with her,” she said.
Pavel nodded, “It’s just that I’ve heard some rumors about her from where she was transferred from. Anyways, it’s just a heads up.” Pavel’s lips curved up slightly and then he began to walk away.
Natasha had spent one week here and she had neither made friends nor enemies. She just does whatever task is assigned to her and go home. Though her schedule will change from today cause after work, she won’t be able to go home anymore, she’ll have to go to Titiana’s place first before finally heading home.
In all honestly, many miracle healing that had been happening lately is surprising her. Cause while she had learnt about traditional medicine, she didn’t know it all. Sometimes she just tries her best and the result comes up in a way she least expect.
Mr. Pushkin getting fully healed is a shock to her. She may act confident and all that whenever she’s administering healing, there is a part of her that’s scared of the outcome of ‘what if her method does not work.’
Pavel also had gotten fully healed too. She barely even knows much about Pavel’s case. She had just pieced up a few herbs together based on what she had learnt from the old blind man that accomodated her in Crying-Sun city. And it worked.
And now is Titiana’s case before her. She had signed the contract that Yuri brought yesterday evening and this morning, a sum of five hundred thousand dollars had been sent to her bank account. She honestly do not have a plan of touching that money until Titiana gets fully better.
Cause what if she wasn’t successful in Titiana’s case, what then will become of her? What will Dmirry think of her? The words in the contract were rigid and one of the agreements were that should she be unsuccessful after nine months, she will have to return the advance given to her or be charged to court in which she case, the judge will most likely send her to jail.
Soon, she was on her seat. While turning on her desktop, a voice called out behind her.
She turned and saw a male colleague, he was skinny, like very skinny. He was like someone that had a disease. Cause his skeletons were almost popping out of his skin and his cheekbones were as sharp as arrows.
“Hi Natasha,” he smiled but Natasha considered his smile to be awkward.
Looking at his narrow looking bony head, she greeted back, “hey!” For she didn’t even know his name.
“I’m Fernando.” He smiled even broader.
“Hi Fernando, is there something I can help you with?” Natasha asked strictly.
“The new SAP request your presence.” He finally stated his main purpose of being here.
The Senior Attending Physician had been replaced? Oh! Perhaps, that was the new senior staff that Pavel was referring to.
Natasha stood and began to walk with Fernando to the SAP’s office, “Natasha, I’ve had my eyes on you since your first day here. You are easy going and have a very beautiful character.”
“Thank you ” Natasha simply says.
“I feel shy asking this but this is the only chance I’ve got. Would you mind if we have a dinner together?”
“You are asking me out already?” Natasha glanced at his sharp features and refocused her attention.
“I’ve always wish to. I know you’ll probably say ‘no.’ It’s okay. You aren’t the first lady that will reject me.” He says pitifully.
Natasha glanced at him again, this time, they were already at the door that leads to the SAP’s office. “The SAP is interviewing every younger doctors here and so far, she had recommended that two people be fired. Once Pavel approves it, those two staffs will be dismissed.” Fernando explained.
“Have you being interviewed?” Natasha asked him.
“Not yet, but I don’t think I will. I’ve been the one running her errands since.” Fernando said.
“I see.” Natasha then planted a knock on the door.
“Come in,” the person on the inside said.
“Natasha, your answer is ‘no’, right?” Fernando quickly asked.
Natasha didn’t want him to feel bad and said, “my schedule is filled up this week, let’s see what next week holds.” Then she twisted the knob and walked in.
She arched her brown in shock when she saw who the new SAP is. It was Violet. The doctor that was originally assigned for Mr. Pushkin. She had been mistaken as Violet cause of their close resemblance and that was how she ended up treating Mr. Pushkin and Winning his favor.
“Surprised?” Violet asked with a sardonic smirk across her lips. There’s no way she’s forgetting the humiliation she experienced at Mr. Pushkin’s ward that day. Not only did Natasha disguised as her, Natasha even won Mr. Pushkin’s favor. She’s never forgiving that.
Natasha exhaled and took steps closer to her desk, “Good morning.”
Violet didn’t respond, instead, she was watching her as though she will devour her. “I have the capability to fire you.”
“But the head of this department will have to approve it,” Natasha spoke back.
“And why won’t he? Are you special? Whoever I recommend to be fired is definitely due to get fired.” Violet said. She then scan some files before her, “I can’t find your certificate here, there’s no record of which university you went to and what course you study. Did you submit it at all?”
“Can I sit, please?”
“Go ahead,” Violet calmly responded.
“I did not submit it,” Natasha answered truthfully.
“How them did you gain employment here? The Woza group of companies is the toughest place to get a job cause they pay the highest in terms of remuneration. Yet you seem to gain employment here without submitting the necessary requirements.”
Natasha remained quiet.
“Aren’t you going to defend yourself?”
“I honestly have nothing to say.” Natasha says.
“Then your case is even more serious than the two staffs I recommend to be fired. Bring your medical certificate tomorrow as well as your curriculum vitae.”
“Alright,” Natasha said and then she gestured that she may leave.
Natasha stood quietly and walked out.
She went straight to Pavel’s office but he wasn’t in his office. His secretary had said he had gone to the laboratory.
Natasha then proceeded to the lab, on getting there, he saw Pavel, dressed in a blue scrubs, he was also wearing gloves in his two long fingers as well as a mask on his face.
“Hi Pavel, sorry to bother you,” Natasha said as she walked closer to him.
Pavel didn’t stop what he was doing, he asked, “what’s the matter?”
“The new SAP and I once had a not-so-pleasant encounter weeks ago, she’s telling me to bring my medical certificate and my CV, you know I don’t have both,” Natasha said. For the CV she has had details of law and she can’t use that.
“We can forge a certificate, it’s not like she will call the university to confirm,” Pavel said.
“But she can always look me up on the school portal to see if I’m truly a student of the university,” she said.
Pavel paused what he was doing and said, “you went to the university, correct?” Natasha nodded at his question.
“We only need to hack into your university’s portal and change the department that you are in.” Pavel said. “I have already foreseen this and had thought of what to do.”
“What if she finds out it’s forged?” Natasha still had her worries.
“She won’t.”
“I’m not saying this cause of being fired alone, I do not want Dmitry to have a false perception of me. What would he think of a woman that forges result?” Natasha expressed her worry.
“I totally understand you. But you aren’t the only one at risk here, my career is also in the line so be calm, plus I’m the boss here, I’ll have to approve any of her move before it gets to the bigger bosses.” Pavel said.
Natasha exhaled, “alright, when will I get the… forged certificate?”
Pavel glanced at her and said, “tomorrow morning.”
Natasha nodded and turned. About to leave, Pavel spoke, “Natasha?”
Natasha turned back to him. Pavel opened his mouth as if he wanted to utter some words but he swallowed it back. “Never mind.”
Natasha nodded still and went away. She couldn’t help but wonder what it was that Pavel wanted to say.
Just when she finished at work, she received a notification of a message and seeing that it was from her father, she immediately opened it and read the content, “My company had finally gone bankrupt. Natasha, as long as I live, I’ll never forgive you. Your days and that of your kids and now numbered.” Those were the words of her father.
