“Thank you so much for coming through for me,” Natasha said as she went to stand before him. But she was a few distance away. She didn’t believe that a busy man like Dmitry would abandon what he was doing and come through for her. The highest he thought he would do was to send men over, that is if he will but he came himself.
“My grandfather’s protection over you is no longer valid since he’s no longer in the city,” Dmitry said and sat. Natasha also have her seat.
Dmitry looked around the average looking poor living room. Truth was, he felt uncomfortable sitting here but he had to. “This dingy looking living room is …” He shook his head as if feeling pathetic for Natasha.
“I know it’s not up your standard but I’m not a billionaire like you are. Also, everywhere is looking this way cause I was not particularly expecting a visitor,” Natasha says, feeling slightly ashamed. But she’s only living below her source of income. She can’t blame herself.
Dmitry took another glance at the outdated furnitures in the living room, the peeling paints on the wall and the low quality curtain that was nailed to the walls.
“I take it you need my protection ?”He casted his gaze back on her.
Natasha swallowed hard at his question. He wasn’t expecting him to be so direct but it’s true, she needs his protection since his grandfather is no longer here. “I ensured your grandfather is healed completely. I can do the same for your sister. In return, you get to protect me.”
“My little sister’s case is different from my grandfathers’. I’ve never heard of a mute persom speak again. She’s traumatized, she’s mentally imbalanced.”
“Why don’t you leave all that to me? Plus she wasn’t born a mute. She had an accident that made her that way so I believe it’s curable. You just need to allow me.” She says.
Dmitry relaxed on the not so comfortable chair he was seated on. “I’ll pay you in cash if my sister gets completely healed. State your price?”
“I do not need the money. I just need you to ensure I and my…” She suddenly remembered that Dmitry had no idea the twins are for her. “… that I’m protected.”
“My protection is more valuable than using it as a means of exchange for treating my sister. I’ll pay you like I’ll pay any doctor,” Dmitry says. “Just state a figure and I’ll consider it. It’s even easier since you are not dealing with my personal assistant.”
If she becomes wealthy, She may be able to guarantee her own protection. Seeing that the man seated before her is worth almost a trillion dollar, she asked, “a million dollar. But you’ll pay me half in advance and pay the other half once I’m done with your sister.”
“You do not have any medical certificate to prove you are a doctor, do you? You practice ancient method of medicine and from what I understood, traditional healers charge below five thousand dollars.” Dmitry says.
Natasha was about to speak in defense of the money she just stated when Dmitry spoke, “it’s okay. You ensured my father got healed anyways. I’ll trust you with my sister. Yuri will bring the contract to you.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Dmitry stood. He was about to leave when he suddenly said to her, “that reminds me. You are not living here alone, are you?”
Natasha’s heart skipped. What does it mean? Is he referring to the kids? She suddenly remembered that he had brought the kids from those who kidnapped them and handed them over to the nanny who he thought was their biological mother. “No, I’m living with a friend.”
“And this friend has a twin?”
“That’s right. I also help in taking care of her babies.”
Took a few seconds before Dmitry spoke again, “The last time I carried the twin, I felt …” He couldn’t find a perfect word to describe how he felt so he demanded, “can I see the kids again?”
Natasha’s complexion turned pale. Her body growing tense and stiff, “the twin may be sleeping with their mother.”
“Wake their mother up.” Dmitry clearly wasn’t intending on leaving here without carrying the kids.
Natasha understood that and nodded, “please sit, I’ll be back soon.”
Dmitry only nodded. But he didn’t sit. He remained standing like a noble.
Natasha frantically went to the nanny’s room but she could even hear the nanny’s snore. She was fast asleep. Waking her up isn’t an option so she ignored her first plan and went directly to her room. She picked up the babies one after the other from the bassinet. The babies weren’t really asleep.
Soon, she was at the living room approaching Dmitry. Natasha kept wondering why Dmitry wanted to have the kids in his arms again.
Natasha was soon before him, handling the kids to him one after the other. Dmitry carried the kids well and observed their eyes, they were like his. Was that why he seemed to be particularly interested in these two little ones? He thought to himself.
He also loved their babyish smell, it was so comforting and appealing. He also liked their curly hair. The babies were equally staring at him, smiling and cooing, as though they loved to be in his arms.
Natasha couldn’t help but be amazed. Naturally, a baby will cry if not being carried by the mother. Infact, before the kids stopped crying in in the nanny’s arms, it took time.
But this is probably the first or second time he’s carrying the babies and they are so cool. Did this babies mysteriously know whom their father is. The babies are barely three months old so technically, there’s no way they’ll know whom their father is.
And Dmitry on the other hand had no idea the kids are his yet he felt such a great bonding with them. What a beautiful mystery.
All of a sudden, the male amidst the twin suddenly spat up milk curds, Dmitry was stunned. His white long sleeves shirt became stained with the milk curds of the babies.
“Oh my days! I’m so sorry,” Natasha find herself apologizing eventhough it was not her fault. She quickly dissapeared and came back with an handkerchief. “Can I help you to clean, sir?” Natasha asked cause Dmitry was using his two hands to carry the babies.
“Have the babies,” Dmitry handed over the babies to her and collected the handkerchief. Not for any reason had his shirt ever been stained before. Not in the past ten years. He loves cleanliness so much to the extent that his closest workers refers to him as someone who has mysophobia.
He tried cleaning the milk curds from his shirt but it became messier that he felt like retching. His only available option is to pull off his shirt and wear a new one. However, he had driven here alone. He didn’t allow Yuri nor his driver to come with him.
Should he asked of Yuri to bring in a new cloth, it will take lots of time and he’s can’t wait until then wearing this. So he choicelessly asked, “do you have a cloth I can change into?”
Natasha looked at him in surprise. She firstly place the kids carefully on the couch then stood upright and said to him, “yes, but they are not too quality clothes. They are my work clothes but I can get you one.”
“Please do.” He said, feeling as if he was wearing the dirtiest shirt on earth.
Natasha immediately went away and came back ten minutes later with a white T Shirt, this time, Dmitry wished he had told Yuri to bring in a new cloth, for it will taken Yuri less than fifteen minutes. “What’s taken you so long?”
“I had to press it with iron and make it look the best, it’s the least I could do,” Natasha said. “Please bring the one you are wearing, I’ll immediately wash it.”
When Dmitry was about to remove the shirt, Natasha turned away. For she didn’t know how he will feel staring at his bare body. Dmitry remained quiet until he was done removing his cloth, “have it ”
Natasha had to turn to him and seeing his bare body, his v shaped torso bore into her brain and his well and definitely muscular chest made her womanhood respond in a way she didn’t expect. For he was so hot and gorgeous.
She immediately handed over the pressed shirt to him and collected the dirty one. She swiftly turned back but not after observing his smooth skin. She immediately walked away from him.
Whereas, Dmitry began to wear the shirt. The shirt didn’t size him at all. But for some weird reasons, he liked the smell of it. Perhaps, that was her smell.
Dmitry went to the babies they were on the couch and arched his back a little, his eyes now on the babies, “handsome, why did you spit up on me?” He knew the babies can not respond, nonetheless, he asked.
He wondered if it’s a sign the babies do not like him. Afterall, he knows nothing about babies. So he brought out his phone and asked Google. Realizing that it’s a normal thing for a baby to do, he calmed down. He held the small hands of the babies and adored them for a few seconds then he whispered, “I’ll check on you again.” He didn’t know when, but he hoped he will soon.
When he was about to leave the baby’s small arms, the two babies however held his fingers so tightly. They were not willing to let it go.
Now he confirmed that the baby likes him. They didn’t even want him to leave. So he sat on the old looking couch with the babies and then wondered how he could play with them.
He managed to remove one is his hands from the babies grip and asked Google, “is it possible to play with babies?” He further asked, “how do I play with babies?”
This time, Natasha had arrived but didn’t make her presence known. He was only watching the father and the twin doing their thing on the couch and it blessed her heart. Although Dmitry was cold and heartless, a misogynist and a cold blooded CEO, it merries the heart to see him act tenderly towards her little ones.
