Chapter 206 Wendy’s Jealous Again

Book:Mr. Charles's Hidden Wife Published:2024-5-1

“I’m not you, so I doubt if my opinion even matters,” Wendy said as she shook her head.
“Mason’s just so good to me up to the point where I can’t stand it sometimes… Ugh, I don’t know what to think right now. I just wanted a second opinion, is all. I wanted to know if an outsider would be as indecisive as I am if they were in my shoes,” Daisy explained.
Wendy pouted at that. “Well, if I were in your shoes, I would ask myself if I truly loved the man and if he truly loved me back. And it’s only if both conditions are met that I would be able to come to a concrete decision. After all, that would mean that our love has blossomed, so I’d definitely bear his child knowing that.
“Plus, you two are husband and wife, so the reason why Mason insists on you having children is because he himself wants children. As your husband and the future father of his children, he has all the right in the world to request this of you, you know.
She honestly felt that Daisy’s biggest problem right now was that she probably hadn’t straightened out her feelings yet.
And that the reason why she kept refusing to bear his child wasn’t because she was worried about the fact that Mason was a cripple or even the fact that she won’t be able to take care of their child properly, but
was most likely because she didn’t want it in the first place, as it didn’t come from the person whom she truly loved.
But one thing that baffled her was this: Why’d she marry him if she didn’t love him?
She was still miserable after hurting Henson and stalling Mason, so what was the point?
She thought that Daisy was a selfish person as an outsider looking into their marriage. She’d married someone she didn’t love and was now unwilling to have their babies.
But as an outsider in all of this, her opinion was no different than the words other people are saying about the couple.
Daisy merely stood in place as she silently mulled it over.
Wendy then lifted an arm to look at the time. “I’m afraid I can’t be out of campus for this long, Daisy, so I’ll have to head back now,” she said flatly.
This made Daisy jolt out of her daze and she flashed Wendy a grin. “So sorry for taking up so much of your time, Wendy. I’ll need to give this whole thing a lot of thought when I arrive home later by the looks of it then. You should go too,” she said apologetically.
Wendy nodded at that and started walking in the opposite direction, but she spun around not long after. “Daisy,” she called out.
Daisy turned to look at her.
“I doubt if every child hates their parents just because a few people around them call them names. I’m sure if your child is well-educated, kind, and is a dollop of sunshine, things won’t go the way you think it will in the future,” Wendy said in a calm manner.
Daisy merely frowned at that and kept silent.
Wendy gave her a last nod and returned to campus grounds afterwards.
As Daisy stared at her frame disappearing into the distance, her gaze turned chilly.
When Wendy arrived at her office and opened her desk drawer to see the shopping bag containing the men’s clothing she bought staring back at her, she felt annoyed.
Since she and Linda were the only two people in the office, when Linda noticed her expression, she piped up, “What’s up? Did something happen?”
Wendy then looked up to face her with pursed lips. “It’s nothing,” she muttered while shaking her head.
“Your expression says otherwise,” Linda remarked.
At that, Wendy pouted and inched closer to her to ask,  “Tell me, Linda. What does it mean when a man buys clothes for his ex-girlfriend who’s already married?”
Linda looked at her, wide-eyed in response after that. “Did Master Henson-” she gasped.
“Yep,” Wendy sighed.
“Well… do you think he still has feelings for her?” Linda asked.
“I-I don’t know actually,” Wendy replied and frowned. “I’m still puzzled at the kind of relationship they have myself, though it’s worth noting that he still cared about her a lot even during the time I first met him,”
“Please don’t tell me she was his first,” Linda gasped.
“I… think so,” Wendy replied after mulling it over some time.
Linda scratched her forehead at that. “I think men are more similar to women than you think. I  doubt if they forget about their first love so easily as well,” she explained.
Wendy’s heart constricted. ‘One’s first love is one’s most unforgettable memory’ was indeed a phrase she heard a lot.
“But I feel you shouldn’t look too much into it either, Miss Evans. Didn’t you say that the woman was married? With his status, if he really loved her that much, he wouldn’t even let anyone marry her in the first place. After all, who’d dare chase after the same woman Master Henson chases after?” Linda reasoned.
He definitely wouldn’t yield if it were other people, but this was Mason they’re talking about.
Wendy nodded in agreement then straightened herself in her seat to start going through the course files she’d just received.
There were some things that she couldn’t tell Linda as it was still a private matter within the Charles family. It wouldn’t be appropriate of her to run her mouth of their affairs.
When they finished their shift at night, Linda, Carmen and Ian went back first, while Wendy waited another 10 minutes in their office before slowly taking out the shopping bag from her desk drawer to bring home.
Baron eventually picked her up at the campus gates.
When she got into the car, she stared at the shopping bag that had been placed in a corner for a long time.
When she got out of the car, she left the bag where it was.
She decided not to give him the clothes she bought.
After she left, Baron started tidying up the car and was about to leave the car at her place and get off work when
he found a shopping bag stuffed under a seat at the back.
He unstuck the bag and began to examine it more clearly. But before he could inform her of it via call,
he noticed that Henson had just pulled his car into the driveway.
This made him stuff his phone back into his pockets then shut the car door. After walking up to his employer, he greeted Henson just as he was about to get out of his car. “You’ve returned, Master Henson,” he said.
Henson merely grunted in response, but before he could step into the building, Baron piped up again, “Miss Evans left this shopping bag in the car, sir. I was about to call her when you showed up. Can I trouble you to bring it up for her, sir?”
One glance into the contents of the bag was enough for him to notice that it was men’s clothes inside.
He raised an eyebrow as he pulled the clothes out of the bag and couldn’t stop himself from smiling while he examined it.
“Sure, you and Baron can get off work now,” he said and
raced up the stairs immediately after.
When he stepped into the house, he noticed that she’d just came out of her bedroom with a change of clothes on.
Upon seeing the shopping bag in his hand, she frowned as she pointed at it. “Why do you-”
He gave her a mischievous laugh and teased, “I can’t tell if you’re a smart girl or not judging by the fact that you left my gift in the car,”
He then waved the bag in front of him and continued, “And upon examination, it does seem like definitely something I’d wear. You have good taste,”
He later tossed the bag aside after
taking out the item she brought. “I’ll try it out for you to see right away,” he said giddily.
“Give it back to me,” she said then immediately went up to him to try and snatch it from his hands.
But this caused him to raise his hands high up in the air instead, hindering her from doing so. “You already bought it for me, and I’ve already accepted your gift, so why’d you want it back now?
“I just don’t want to give it to you,” she huffed then took a step back, her face clearly upset.
“Who got on your nerves?” he asked with an eyebrow raised after noticing how pissed off she was.
“No one. Give it back to me right now, I need to return it tomorrow,” she huffed.
Without hesitation, he immediately tore off the tag from the piece of clothing. “Fat chance, it’s mine now,” he chuckled.
“Even if you tear the tag off, it’s still not a gift for you,” she huffed.
“And why’s that?” he asked.
“Your clothes cost millions, and even the outfit you gifted Daisy costs just as much, so is it wrong of me to feel ashamed for gifting you something that costs a measly $800?” she finally relented and said out of frustration.
“Daisy? What do you mean I bought clothes for Daisy?” he asked incredulously.
