Chapter 207 Positive Henson

Book:Mr. Charles's Hidden Wife Published:2024-5-1

Wendy rolled her eyes at Henson. He was playing innocent again.
She saw it with her own eyes this time, so how could she have seen wrong?
“When did I buy clothes for Daisy?” he said while looking at her with a calm look on his face.
“On Saturday, when I went shopping at a clothes store with Daisy. She saw an overcoat she liked but the store keeper told her that it was the only item of its kind in the whole of America, and that it’d already been reserved by you to gift to your beloved. And when Daisy came over today, I saw with my own eyes the same overcoat hanging on her body. So, do you still want to insist on denying that you weren’t the one who gifted it to her?” she accused.
“That’s right, I’ll keep on insisting that it wasn’t me who gifted it to her,” he answered confidently.
She bit her lip. He was trying to deceive her again by playing his mind games on her.
“Don’t believe me? Then give me the address of the store. I’ll call them to confront them of the matter right away,” he said coolly.
“Yves Boutique in the Clouds of Floating Light Shopping Mall,” she said firmly.
One quick call to Dayne later, he’d obtained their business number. He then started dialing the number himself.
He went straight to the point. “Did a certain Mr. Henson Charles reserve any outfits in your store last Saturday?” he asked bluntly.
“No orders from Mr. Henson, but there was one overcoat that Mr. Mason Charles ordered for his woman though,” the person on the other end said.
He hung up immediately after and shot Wendy a look.
She felt uber embarrassed… So, it wasn’t him after all.
After stuffing his phone back into his pant pocket, he started, “You have to remember that there are a lot of people in this world who have the surname ‘Charles’. There’s already three with the same surname in this very household. I don’t mind if you get all jealous, but at least get your facts right first. If not, you’ll just end up getting angry for no reason while I have to bear the brunt of it, alright?”
Her face flushed bright pink as she lowered her head. She was so embarrassed at the time she wanted to dig a hole and hide inside forever.
“Well then, can I go try on my clothes now?” he piped up.
She pouted and countered, “It’s… better if you don’t. I doubt if you want to be caught dead in something so cheap and tacky,” she muttered.
“Who told you? As a matter of fact, I’m thinking of wearing it to work tomorrow,” he chirped excitedly and
dashed into her room to get changed. He came back out a few moments later and did a little twirl for her.
“How do I look? Handsome as ever, aren’t I?” he gloated.
She tried her best to not burst out laughing at the spectacle in front of her. Yes, he was, but the man seemed to love himself a bit too much.
“No comment? Too stunned to speak?” he nudged.
She pouted: “I’m just sighing by myself.”.
“You’re sighing because of how amazing I look right now?” he teased.
“I’m sighing at myself for being so good at picking out clothes,” she giggled
then started walking towards the kitchen. “I’ll be going downstairs to make us dinner right now,”
This caused him to block her path. “Just one word of praise and I’ll let you,” he huffed.
“Never,” she insisted.
“You’ll have to settle for being trapped in a hug then,” he said and bear hugged her.
She then rolled her eyes at him and said flatly, “You’re the handsomest man in these clothes. You have an amazing body, so anything you wear will look good on you,”
“I suppose that should suffice,” he answered then
let her go. Just as she was about to make a beeline to the kitchen, he suddenly thought of something and piped up, “Ah, right. You mentioned seeing Daisy wear an overcoat today. Did you meet up with her or something today?”
“Yep,” she replied with a nod.
“She went to see you?”
“Yep,”
“Don’t just ‘yep’ me. What did she say?”
“We… talked about a few things, but I don’t know if I should tell you or not,”
“The two of us are one, no? So, don’t you think you should?”
“Well, since we’re ‘one’, then you should be able to figure it out for yourself,” she said with lips upturned.
“I’ll need to be deep inside you for me to figure it out though. Mind lending a hand?” he laughed devilishly.
This made her face flush bright crimson. She then grabbed a rag at the side of the kitchen table and threw at at him.
“You’re a shameless b*stard, Henson Charles,” she spat.
“Just tell me already. Why’d she look for you? Did she berate you or anything?” he urged.
“It’s nothing like that. She just came to me to complain about her life,” she said. “Also, you’re going to be an uncle soon,”
“She’s pregnant?” he gasped and turned to look at her.
“Yeah, but she doesn’t seem to want to keep the child, even though Mason insisted that she did,” she answered.
“Why doesn’t she want to keep it?” he probed.
“She lamented on how she was worried her child would be ridiculed by other people based on the fact that Mason was a cripple,”
“Preposterous,” he scoffed and frowned.
She merely shrugged at that. “She was scared that you’ll berate her for that, so she daren’t bring the matter up to you. Frankly, I’m also blabbing her issues to her to you now so I’m a busybody now as well. Just forget everything I said, the cat’s out of the bag now,” she said then
disappeared into the kitchen. He later fished out his phone to give Daisy a call.
“Start packing your things right now and order Donald to send you home,” he said coldly the first thing the line connected.
“Henson, I-” she gasped.
“Cut the talk, I won’t listen to a single word you say. Donald has no experience in taking care of pregnant women, so you better return to Mason’s side right now while he arranges for a few experienced staff to take care of you. You’d better not do anything stupid to the child you’re bearing right now. Since it exists, you’d better give it a chance at life,” he sneered.
She bit her lip and countered, “I really didn’t think Wendy would have such loose lips. How can she spill my secrets to others when I just went to her to pour our my frustrations?”
“I’m not the ‘others’ you speak of. I’m her man, and we’re a couple together. Since couples don’t hide secrets from one another, whatever she hears, she’ll naturally tell me eventually,” he retorted.
However, Daisy wasn’t about to back down yet. “But this is MY problem. What right do you have to make decisions for me?” she hollered.
“The fact that this child belongs to Charles family. I don’t care about what’s going on in your head or the myriad of reasons you have to defend yourself, Daisy, I’m just here to remind you of the person who crippled my brother’s legs in the first place.
“You were also the one who married him and lived a luxurious life until now because of it, so you should be aware that it’s your duty to bestow him a child. You actually have no say in this, you know,” he scoffed.
“You’re humiliating me, Henson,” she growled.
“I’m just laying out the truth for you,” he shrugged.
“But the child I want to bear is yours!” she screamed and started sobbing up a storm. “Yes, he saved me, but if it weren’t for him, we’d be married by now. I’d be your wife and we’d already have kids by now.
“Do you know how it feels to sleep on the same bed with a person you don’t have feelings for? Can you even begin to understand the pain of opening your eyes to a person you don’t love every morning? Can you fathom how devastated I felt when I found out that I was pregnant?
“How could men be so selfish? I married him when I loved you the most. The days living with him, felt so long and horrible I rather be killed to end my misery. And who could’ve expected you to fall in love again with someone else so fast? I was sure you knew how much I needed your comfort back then, so how dare you still choose to humiliate me now?” she ranted between sobs.
“You say you’re in pain, but did you ever stop to think about the child in your womb? How much pain do you think it’ll feel after hearing that its mom doesn’t even want it? It’s a life we’re talking about here, not a way to measure your feelings.
“Also, since you’ve married Mason, you should’ve been aware that you’re going to be his woman for the rest of your life. So, how can you deny him a child after marrying him? You can’t possibly be this selfish,” he scolded.
