After Daisy was done with her shopping spree, she asked the store employees to put her purchases in her car at the basement.
While holding onto Wendy’s arm, she continued shopping.
Then Daisy decided to make a stop at a men’s clothing store.
Wendy was somewhat puzzled by this. “Didn’t she get into a fight with Mason? So why’d she come here to look at men’s clothes?” she thought.
Without thinking too deeply into it, Daisy grabbed a sapphire-coloured tux and held it up for Wendy to see. “What do you think about this, Wendy?” she asked.
“I think this doesn’t suit Mason that well.” Wendy commented.
“This isn’t for Mason, I was just asking if it’d suit Henson.” Daisy replied.
Wendy’s heart dropped in an instant as she stared at Daisy.
Why was she buying Henson clothes? Especially in front of his ‘girlfriend’?!
“I think it’d suit him very nicely,” Daisy chirped after realising that Wendy didn’t reply her.
She later handed the tux to the sales and proceeded to choose three more. She also made sure to ask Wendy what she thought of each outfit before paying the money.
A twinge of annoyance surfaced in Wendy’s heart. Was she the one who was overthinking things?
Was it normal?
Even if it was, did she forget that she has two brother-in-laws?
Upon exiting the store, Daisy remarked that she had a craving for fruit juice.
so they walked to a juice store together. “What do you feel like having, Wendy?” Daisy asked.
Wendy took one glance at the shop front and realised that they’d arrived at one of the hottest juice stores everyone’s been raving about on the Internet these days.
However, this particular store was a bit different from the others, in that most people only went there to take pictures instead of actually buying their drinks.
The reason? Their juices cost a fortune.
The cheapest item on the menu, peach juice, would already set one back by $80 while the most expensive item on the menu was rumoured to cost well over a grand.
In the middle of reeling from her thoughts, Wendy heard Daisy ask, “I’ll have a glass of cherry juice, please. What would you like, Wendy?”
“Mango for me, please,” Wendy answered gently with through pursed lips.
“You like mangoes a lot, don’t you?” Daisy giggled.
Wendy nodded to agree with her statement.
“I used to love starfruit until I met Mason and found out that he liked cherries. My tastes slowly changed over the years to mimic his and now I can’t go back to anymore. It’s kind of scary when you realise how some habits can change us, don’t you think?” Daisy giggled.
“I know right. I suppose it IS pretty easy to sway our ‘preferences’. I recall Henson say that he loved eating cherries before too,” Wendy said.
“Not just ‘before’, he still likes them even to this day,” Daisy added.
“‘I’ll have you know his tastes have changed, and that he likes mango as much as I do now. I agree with your sentiment though, habits can sometimes be scarier than our ‘likes’, but I guess that’s what I like about Henson. He might look like a tyrant in the eyes of others, but he’s actually willing to change himself for me, so I’m really moved by that,” Wendy gushed.
“No way,” Daisy gasped.
“Yes way,” Wendy answered and grabbed the juice she ordered and took out her phone to pay.
When Daisy saw her gesture, she hurriedly piped up, “Allow me,”
“No, let me pay,” Wendy insisted calmly.
“Unacceptable,” Daisy pouted.
“What’s so unacceptable about me paying? I have a job too so I can definitely afford to pay for a couple of glasses of fruit juice, you know,” Wendy giggled and threw her phone back into her handbag. After taking a sip of her juice, she continued while walking, “Henson might be good at everything, but he can be a bit too old-fashioned for me. He’s always nagging me about how I don’t love him enough to spend his money, but tell me Daisy, don’t I have perfectly fine hands and feet? So, why should I spend a man’s money when I’m not a cripple?”
She then turned to look at Daisy with a genuinely dumbfounded expression, her eyes wide and smile crooked.
Daisy could only give her a small frown in response. She’d always assumed Wendy was a soft-spoken young lady and never anticipated that she’d be the total opposite of her perception of her. She was definitely the type of woman who had sharp claws and weren’t afraid to use them.
It was already lunchtime by the time the two of them had returned home.
When Daisy got off the car, she noticed Henson’s car in the driveway
and quickly turned to Wendy with a joyous look on her face. “Henson’s back already,” she chirped in a giddy fashion.
Seeing how excited she was, Wendy could only force a weak smile. “Yep,” she replied flatly.
Why was it that his sister-in-law was more excited to see that her brother-in-law was at home than his own ‘girlfriend’ was?
A strange feeling started bubbling inside her. It wasn’t like Daisy did anything,
but somehow being by her side was already enough to make her feel upset.
She’d never felt jealous towards a woman over a man before in her life. This was her first time feeling this way.
Was this really how jealousy felt like?
She didn’t like this worrywart and vengeful version of herself at all.
When the both of them stepped through the front doors, Donald the butler walked up to them to greet them. “Welcome back, Madam Daisy and Miss Evans,” he said.
“Where’s Henson?” Daisy asked.
“Master Henson’s in his study,” he answered.
Daisy pursed her lips at that. “I’ll head over then,” she said.
Wendy, who was still slightly agitated, turned to him and told him that she wanted to go upstairs and change.
In the meanwhile, Daisy had invited herself to Henson’s study after knocking on the door a few times.
After realising that she was in the room, Henson raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t you tell me that you wanted to go shopping with Wendy today?” he asked.
“We’re already done with shopping,” she giggled. “How come you’re back so early though?”
“I’m already done with work. Where’s Wendy?” he asked.
She then pointed to the floor above her. “Wendy said she went upstairs to change first,” she answered.
This made him get up from his seat. “Guess I should head upstairs to look for her then,” he said flatly.
The moment he walked past her, he felt a hand grab his wrist. “Why are you avoiding me?” she hissed.
“Am I though?” he asked, stone-faced while looking at her.
She explained, “Yes, you are. I came over to have breakfast with you in the morning, and you made up an excuse to go to your company for work matters. And now-”
“You think too much. I DID have matters to attend to at the company in the morning. Are you saying it’s wrong of me to go to my girlfriend now?” he snapped.
This caused her to lower her gaze and slowly retract her hand.
He immediately left the room after.
He went upstairs to their room to find Wendy sitting by the window, staring into space.
When he walked over to her, she turned around to look at him with some sadness in her eyes.
He leaned over and sat down across her. “What’s up?” he asked, concerned.
She shook her head. “It’s nothing,” she muttered.
“What do you mean ‘nothing’? I can literally see ‘I’m not in a good mood’ stamped across your forehead,” he joked.
“It’s really nothing. Why are you here when you should be accompanying Daisy downstairs though?” she shot.
“Why should I accompany her when I should be accompanying you?” he asked.
She lifted her head to look at him and hesitated before asking, “Henson, would you say that men like to say one thing and do another?”
This made him raise an eyebrow as he stared at her for a long while. “The way you said that… are you mad at me or something? Did I do something to upset you?” he asked.
But before she could get a word in, she heard a knock on the door, followed by Daisy’s voice.
“Henson, Wendy, may I come in for a moment? I have something to hand over to the both of you,” she hollered from the outside.
“Come in,” he said.
Daisy later entered their room, carrying four sets of male clothing.
When Wendy saw that, she frowned and her expression became chilly in an instant.
Just as she planned to get up and leave, Daisy chirped, “Henson, I’ll have you know Wendy purchased all these for you today, so make sure to try them on later and see if you like them or not,”
