If Flynn had previously said that the ancient prescription was real, Matteo might have believed him a little bit. But now he said he could improve the ancient prescription by replacing the herbs with common ones and shortening the treatment time to one week. Matteo no longer believed him at all.
The ancient prescription is a culmination of a lifetime of work by a renowned doctor, who spent his whole life researching this miraculous formula. Flynn, who was not yet thirty and had never been involved in medicine before, how could he possibly improve on it?
“Flynn, let me try this medicine for some time first. If it doesn’t work out, then I’ll let you treat me.” Matteo smiled politely but declined Flynn’s acupuncture idea.
Flynn saw that Matteo refused his offer and decided to give up trying to cure him for now. After chatting for a while longer, he received Nathan’s message and left the Kaur family.
“Master!” Nathan rushed over to the Kaur family as soon as he received Flynn’s text message in the morning.
After arriving near the Kaur family’s residence area, Nathan sent another message to Flynn.
Flynn nodded and handed him a bank card saying, “There are twenty million dollars on this card; buy a small villa near the Plenilune Mountain as soon as possible and install security systems.”
“Master! You keep this money; I will buy that villa within one day!” Nathan laughed confidently.
Flynn’s brow furrowed, and he questioned, “Why do you have to buy it with your money?”
“I’ve already taken care of the King of Poison’s matter. Once it’s resolved, you can return to Eahta.”
Nathan took the credit card and added awkwardly, “Master, I won’t be going back to Eahta temporarily. My grandfather asked me to oversee the business here.”
“Oh? Your family has industry in Niarak?” Flynn raised an eyebrow.
Nathan explained, “Yes, the Staraid Hotel in Niarak is a property of my family.”
“Staraid Hotel? It seems to have upgraded to a six-star hotel. The spaghetti there is delicious.” Flynn nodded approvingly.
Staraid Group had over thirty chain hotels nationwide, and Flynn had worked part-time in them before.
“You’re right, Master. Staraid Hotel was upgraded to a six-star hotel two years ago.” Nathan felt honored and quickly handed a gilded card to Flynn, saying, “Master, this is the Staraid VIP Card for the Staraid Hotel. With this card, you can enjoy 24-hour service, and the people there will cater to your every need!”
The Staraid VIP Card was limited to thirty nationwide, meaning each hotel had only one Staraid VIP Card. Possessing this card granted the holder VIP status, allowing them to make any requests at the hotel. Since Flynn was not particularly fond of cooking on regular days, having a Staraid VIP Card seemed like a good idea, so he accepted it.
Flynn handed Nathan the key card for Thodell Mansion, instructing him to install a security alarm system in the new mansion and connect it to Thodell Mansion’s security system. After that, he rode his Vyrus 987 motorcycle to the slums of Niarak.
Harriet was already waiting at the entrance.
Flynn asked her to get on the motorcycle, and they rode through a few alleys to a low residential building.
On the way, Flynn briefly learned about Harriet’s family situation.
She had lost her parents at a young age, and she and her grandfather had depended on each other for over twenty years, living a difficult life.
Harriet’s grandfather had worked hard labor for many years to support her education.
Due to old age and excessive fatigue, he developed a herniated disc in the lumbar spine and had been bedridden for several years.
As Flynn parked the motorcycle, a man walked out.
“Odin?” Flynn couldn’t help but be surprised. This man was his high school classmate!
Odin Hamilton was his best friend during high school. Both of them came from less affluent backgrounds, and they had worked as waiters together at the Staraid Hotel during summer and winter vacations. They were inseparable friends.
The man furrowed his brow, stared at Flynn for a while, and then exclaimed, “Flynn! What the hell! You’re back, and you didn’t even tell me!”
Odin directly grabbed Flynn’s shoulders and shook him excitedly. Tears of joy welled up in his eyes.
“Odin, you and Flynn were classmates?” Harriet couldn’t help but be amazed.
“More than classmates, he’s my good friend!” Odin said, patting Flynn’s shoulder lightly. The joy in his eyes was evident.
Although they hadn’t seen each other for ten years, their reunion was still warm and affectionate. This was thanks to the close brotherhood they formed during high school, and the passing years hadn’t eroded their bond.
Flynn couldn’t help but feel emotional, and he chuckled, “After I left, did you go to college?”
“College? With my grades, do you think I could go to college? You should know I ranked last in every class.” Odin laughed and continued, “You were so good at studying, could have entered a top university. But in the end…”
“Ah! Forget it, let’s not talk about it! We’ll have a good time later! I’ll make sure to get you drunk today!”
Odin’s voice was somewhat resentful, and his eyes were filled with regret. Although they hadn’t seen each other for ten years, Odin had comforted Flynn for a whole night after Adrianna’s death.
Little did he know that Flynn would leave Niarak the next day. Later, through Matteo, he learned that Flynn had been imprisoned.
Flynn nodded with a smile, “Did you get married?”
Odin hesitated for a moment, a hint of helplessness flashing in his eyes. Then he smiled and said, “Soon, it’ll be in just a few days…”
Flynn didn’t think much of it and laughed. “Let me know when the time comes so I can attend your wedding!”
Harriet was about to say something when Odin quickly grabbed him and changed the subject, introducing their relationship.
It turned out that Odin and Harriet were both descendants of the same great-grandfather and had often helped each other out.
Odin nodded approvingly. “Not bad for you! You’ve become the head of security!”
“Harriet told me you saved her at work a few days ago.”
“We’ll have to make sure Harriet pours you some drinks later to properly thank you!”
“Come on, let’s go inside and chat! Harriet’s friends are waiting for us.”
Harriet was also very happy to discover this new connection between Flynn and his cousin – they were now even closer than before.
They walked into the yard where several people were sitting around chatting with a man dressed in Armani casual wear who had fair skin. He was receiving compliments from those around him.
“Dr. Jacks is really living life as a winner. Not only is he wealthy but he also did well in school; he got into Slatin Medical University.”
“That’s nothing. Gabriel became even more impressive after graduation; he became the chief physician at Niarak Golden Oak Hospital Center’s acupuncture department making 10k per month which shows how capable he is!”
“Yeah unlike us poor souls who work ourselves to death just for an 2k monthly salary!”
Gabriel Jacks laughed heartily saying, “Oh come on guys I’m just another doctor earning 10k per month. There isn’t anything worth envying.”
“I’d starve if I only made that much money every month; still living off my parents’ allowance which amounts to over ten thousand every month.”
“Holy cow! With that kind of allowance I wouldn’t need food or drink for two years straight; does the Jacks family have that much money?” One classmate asked incredulously.
Gabriel nodded with amusement, “My dad became manager at Myriad Dragon Merchant Guild last year earning about three million annually.”
“He has significant authority there so there are other sources of income too adding up easily over ten million annually.”
Everyone present was shocked yet envious as they all flattered him endlessly saying, “Wow, we’re no longer part of Dr. Jacks’s circle anymore; if it weren’t for Dr. Jacks liking Harriet specifically coming here to visit her grandpa, we might not even get see him again.”
“Who doesn’t say that, Harriet is really something. Dr. Jacks came to visit amidst his busy schedule and she just chatted for a few minutes before going out to greet her stupid head of security. What’s there to suck up to with some security chief anyway?”
Gabriel’s smile froze as he heard this, feeling extremely displeased.
He had come all the way here and Harriet didn’t even bother to properly receive him, instead running off to greet someone else at the village entrance.
It had been over half an hour since he last saw anyone and it was clear that she didn’t take him seriously.
Just as he was thinking this, Harriet walked in with Flynn, a smile on her face and chatting away happily.
Gabriel’s expression immediately darkened upon seeing this scene.
