“I never cheat people with fake things, and there’s no need to,” Flynn said indifferently as he listened to the crowd’s questioning.
“No need?” Hamish sneered. “I think it’s very necessary!”
“As a low-level person like you, who happened to cure Callie’s illness and win her favor, you must feel great,” he continued.
“You found a painting by God-knows-who and signed Timothy’s name on it as a gift. Your intention is clear: You want to take advantage of Callie’s innocence and further deceive her.”
“I bet you’ve already booked a hotel or cleaned up your house, waiting for dinner to be over so that you can take Callie away!”
Flynn frowned. “I have no intentions towards Callie. I only gave her the painting because I promised her a gift.”
“No intentions? If in ancient times, Callie is a princess in the royal palace; even commoners would find it difficult just to see her! Now that she has shown interest in someone from your background, you pretend not to care when actually inside you’re thrilled!”
“Callie is so beautiful and gentle; any man would like her. It’s ridiculous for you say that there are no feelings involved! I bet this guy has fantasized about being with her countless times!”
“After winning Callie’s favor, this bro probably couldn’t sleep at night due excitement; he must have planned many schemes in his heart hoping become the Pearce family son-in-law!”
The crowd clearly didn’t believe Flynn’s words.
So many rich second-generation heirs liked Callie because she was the Pearce family’s jewel in their palm. Marrying into their family meant gaining access to the Pearce family’s vast network of contacts. How could they believe this guy who pretended not have any feelings towards such an opportunity?
Seeing everyone doubt Flynn made Callie feel embarrassed; she tried defending him by saying, “Mr. Clark is very skilled at medicine. Even Mr. Price is his apprentice, so he definitely has the ability obtain Timothy’s masterpieces.”
“In addition,” Callie continued “even if this painting isn’t Timothy’s work, I still really like it!”
“Don’t question him anymore.”
She didn’t want anyone knowing too much about private life or health issues.
However…
Everyone was stunned after hearing what Callie had said.
“Mr. Price’s teacher? This guy dares joke around with Mr. Price just for improving his own status? He really doesn’t value his life!”
“Callie, why are you so naive? You believe everything he says. Mr. Price is one of the top doctors in Ostrad, and if that guy was his master, then why haven’t we heard of him?”
“Yeah! You’re just a headache patient. Medicine in Ostrad is vast and profound, so it’s likely that his ancestors had a remedy for this kind of illness that happened to work for you. Don’t blindly worship him!”
After hearing Callie’s words, the disdain towards Flynn became even stronger.
Roman was like a god-like figure who had cured countless terminal illnesses.
This guy was young and unknown; how could he possibly be Roman’s master? He dared to say anything just to chase after girls!
“That’s not true!” Callie saw that no one believed her and quickly explained, “Mr. Clark served ten years in Demon Island Prison, so you guys don’t know how powerful he is.”
“I can guarantee that within a year, he will become famous in Ostrad!”
Everyone was even more shocked after hearing this and their faces were filled with strong disdain.
“What? He spent ten years in prison on Demon Island? Oh my God! That place only holds serious criminals; staying there for too long would definitely make someone mentally unstable. Callie, don’t have any contact with him again!”
“I never thought this guy was an ex-convict who tricked Callie into trusting him; it’s too scary and destroys all morals.”
“People who have been to jail aren’t good people at all! Callie, you should be more careful since you come from such an esteemed family.”
Flynn couldn’t help but frown when he saw everyone react like this.
“Mr. Clark, I’m sorry I shouldn’t have mentioned this,” said Callie as she realized her mistake seeing Flynn’s displeased expression on his face.
She panicked while trying to refute everyone else’s claims about Flynn being untrustworthy due to spending time behind bars which made her blurt out something she shouldn’t have said.
Flynn waved his hand nonchalantly saying, “It doesn’t matter; I don’t think going to jail is something shameful.”
“It seems like some people from the upper circles lack basic manners,” continued Flynn with contempt towards those who looked down upon ex-convicts like himself.
His mother Adrianna had been kicked out by the Clark family mainly because of Georgia Clark as she forcibly separated Adrianna from Paxton just so she could climb up the social ladder by getting close with Watson family members.
Of course, his weak father also bore responsibility;if Paxton hadn’t chosen silence or stood up against them, himself along with his mother wouldn’t be where they were now.
Flynn hated everything about the Clark family but most especially Tessa whom not even considered as stepmother material.
When Adrianna was pregnant, this treacherous woman sent people to chase her down several times, almost killing her on the run.
Fortunately, during the last pursuit, Abel, one of the killers she sent, had a good relationship with Paxton and took pity on Adrianna’s plight. He let her go.
Abel went back and lied to Tessa that he killed Adrianna. This way, mother and son could escape from being hunted day after day.
Adrianna wandered around until she reached Niarak.
She feared that Tessa would find out they were still alive if she stayed in plain sight. So she had to hide in the sewers and live like a mole rat without seeing daylight for years. She survived by eating rotten vegetables and selling scraps for money.
During those years of hardship, Adrianna was often harassed by vagrants but couldn’t report them for fear of exposing herself. She had no choice but to move out into the wilderness where life became even more difficult.
When Adrianna was dying, Matteo secretly went to see Paxton in Slatin hoping to fulfill her last wish of seeing him before passing away. However, that cowardly father didn’t dare come to Niarak.
And so it was that with endless regret in her heart, Adrianna left this world behind.
After burying Adriana, Flynn caused chaos at Clark family’s place where Tessa verbally abused them, calling them pigs or dogs not worth anything. Flynn lost his mind slapping Tessa three times nearly choking her deathly.
He originally planned on killing Tessa, then going after his grandmother and Paxton but got caught by security guards who threw him into a dog cage
His grandmother raged while the Watson family came knocking at their door asking why Flynn did what he did and Paxton begged on his knees for mercy.
Finally under orders from Tessa, this most despised branch of Clark family was sent off onto Demon Island prison.
Tessa spent big bucks hiring three assassins hoping they would kill Flynn while he was there, but Kevin saved him and an insane old man protected him too, so when news spread about Flynn’s death, Tessa finally gave up.
Therefore, he never regretted hitting Tessa and putting himself behind bars, bur regretted not slapping Tessa’s face until it broke apart.
Hamish sneered coldly, “I don’t know how you stumbled upon curing Callie’s headache.”
“Even if you do have some medical skills, you’re not qualified enough to date Callie because society values power!”
“Just knowing how to cure headaches won’t get you far in life.”
“Let’s take us two as an example; I may not know how to heal people nor is my family among top-tier elites, but I know more influential people than you do.”
“Do you know who owns this hotel? Orion! Mr. Kennedy! I can talk with him easily; can you?”
“Mr. Kennedy treats Callie politely every time they meet; are you just a small factory employee worthy enough for her?”
“I just heard the manager say that Mr. Kennedy is going to have dinner with Eahta’s big shots here later.”
“Later, I’ll invite him over to sit and let you see what a real big shot is like. Then you’ll know the difference between yourself and Callie!”
