Chapter 208 Helping to Organize Clothes

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2024-6-4

Flynn drove back to Plenilune Mountain and wanted to take a new piece of clothing to shower.
When he opened the closet, he suddenly found that all the clothes were neatly folded and placed together. They were even classified, with pants on the left and shirts on the right. Only two underwear remained untouched, lying quietly on the sofa.
Flynn remembered clearly that these were Scarlet’s washed clothes. He brought them back to his bedroom and threw them onto the sofa before going downstairs for dinner. Due to drinking too much alcohol that night, Flynn went straight to bed when he returned to his room.
The next day, he went early in the morning to buy for his company and Rose occupied his villa at night again so he didn’t have time to tidy up. Who would have thought that this ice queen woman would actually help him organize his clothes!
“This woman occupies my house but still has some conscience by helping me organize my clothes!” Flynn saw how well-organized everything was and felt less angry towards Rose.
He came into his study room where a painting hung on the wall had already dried up. He planned on giving it as a gift for Callie now so he could go back home afterwards.
Flynn called Callie’s phone number who answered very excitedly saying she was eating at Everland Hotel and insisted him coming over together with her.
Flynn had no choice but agreed after asking for specific address details then drove off towards Everland Hotel.
Callie recovered from her illness recently which made rich kids take turns inviting her out under pretext of celebrating her recovery while actually trying their luck in pursuing her romantically.
She disliked gatherings like this, but being kind-hearted, she didn’t know how to refuse. Besides, today’s host was her classmate Hamish Lloyd, a rich second-generation heir from a third-tier wealthy family.
Despite his overly extravagant speech, Callie decided to attend the banquet.
When Flynn arrived at the hotel with the painting, Callie was already waiting at the entrance.
The girl was dressed in an elegant pleated skirt, with a pure white chiffon blouse on top. Her eyes were like water, exuding a dignified and elegant charm. She was also quite graceful.
“Mr. Clark!” Callie came up and hooked her arm through his, smiling brightly.
Flynn smiled back, feeling his elbow sinking into a softness, while catching a scent different from Scarlet’s fragrance.
Callie belonged to the category of a young lady with both beauty and sweetness, gentle and pure. She couldn’t be a strong, independent woman, but when it came to being a wife and mother, she was definitely better than other types of girls.
“Callie, is this the friend you’ve been looking forward to meeting?”
Seeing Callie hooking her arm through Flynn’s, eyebrows were raised all around.
“Rough skin, calluses on the hands, and obvious signs of wind and frost on the face.”
“This guy can’t be a rich second generation or an official’s son, he must be a laborer! Callie, with your noble identity, how could you have such a friend?”
A young man dressed in trendy clothes looked Flynn up and down and made some derogatory comments before showing disdain in his eyes.
He had been hostile towards Flynn from the moment he appeared. Seeing Callie holding his arm only added to his displeasure.
Flynn furrowed his brows slightly and his face darkened upon hearing this.
Callie’s expression also soured as she held onto Flynn’s arm and introduced him, “This is my savior. He works at Energence Pharmaceuticals as a doctor.”
“And he is the most important person in my life!”
The men present heard this statement and their hearts sank.
The trendy-dressed man sneered coldly, “Callie, he’s just a doctor, an employee of a small factory. He doesn’t deserve you.”
The other men present also gave unfriendly glances towards Flynn.
They had known Callie since childhood; she was always well-behaved and beautiful, the goddess of their circle of friends.
Seeing her holding onto a man for the first time naturally made them unhappy. Especially when they saw that Flynn was so ordinary; it made them even more upset.
It was like putting flowers on top of dog poop, disgusting yet infuriating.
“Hamish, give me some face please? Can we stop talking about this?” Callie said angrily while pulling Flynn to sit down beside her.
Hamish saw how close they were sitting together that their legs were touching each other; jealousy almost drove him crazy inside.
“When we went to Fish Dragon Villa last time,” Callie asked, “I heard that you fought Ismael on the basketball court and beat him up?”
Flynn nodded lightly while casually saying, “I played basketball with the kid for awhile but when he didn’t listen I spanked him.”
“Did he come looking for trouble afterwards?” asked Callie with amusement in her voice.
“He did come back but I beat him up again!” replied Flynn nonchalantly before handing over ‘Scenery of Streams, Mountains Flowers’ painting scroll to her while smiling faintly, “I promised to bring you something last time we met; hope you like it.”
“I love anything that comes from you!” exclaimed Callie excitedly after unrolling the scroll which revealed an exquisite painting done by Timothy himself! She marveled at its beauty, “Wow! This is so beautiful! The ink washes are delicate yet elegant; mountains and rivers are arranged properly with varying shades of black ink used skillfully together. Truly exceptional work!”
“Hmm? Timothy painted this? No wonder…”
Flynn was slightly taken aback, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
Callie’s accurate critique upon seeing the painting indicated a deep understanding of the fine arts. Considering the prestigious background of the Pearce family, it made sense that girls from such distinguished families would be well-versed in various arts.
“Timothy’s work?” Everyone crowded around with surprised expressions on their faces.
Hamish took a glance and sneered, “It’s fake!”
He then looked at Flynn coldly and said, “Callie has been so good to you but you gave her a fake painting. What does that mean?”
“How do you know that?” A girl next to him asked curiously.
Hamish confidently replied, “Timothy only has 23 paintings at present, and each one can be traced back to its owner.”
“I’ve never heard Timothy painted ‘Scenery of Streams, Mountains, Flowers and Moon’!”
“That’s right!” Another young man flipped through his phone’s collection of Timothy’s artwork but couldn’t find the painting in front of them.
Everyone turned their gaze towards Flynn.
Flynn frowned after hearing this and calmly said, “He just finished it. It hasn’t been released yet.”
Everyone was stunned by his words as they began laughing mockingly at him.
Hamish held back his laughter as he asked, “How much did you pay for this painting?”
Flynn thought for a moment before replying, “I didn’t pay anything.”
After hearing this response, everyone burst out laughing again.
“You mean Timothy gave it to you for free? That’s ridiculous! Callie is so innocent; do you not feel guilty lying to her with such childish excuses?”
“Do you know how difficult it is to buy one of Timothy’s paintings? Lilia spent 20 million buying ‘Phoenix Emerges from Vast Sea’, but even she couldn’t get him to sell another piece. You’re telling us he just gave away a new piece for free?”
“So many high-ranking figures from prominent families can’t even get Master Timothy’s paintings, and you, a doctor working at a small company, somehow got his painting for free. Do you think that’s possible?”
People thought Flynn was too unreliable, giving Callie a fake painting! Even if Callie liked him, encountering such a situation would surely make her uncomfortable.
A few girls, realizing this, cast disdainful glances at Flynn, feeling embarrassed and blushing on his behalf!
