After they waited for half an hour, Flynn finally handed over the answer to Uriah. The crowd murmured again.
“He probably doesn’t know how to read, that’s why he wrote so slowly! This half-hour must have been torture for him. He must regret agreeing to this competition!”
“Writing the answer so slowly is a sign of lack of confidence and backbone. He’s panicking!”
“Hmph! No real talent but such a big ego. His posture was so high just now, let’s see how he falls from grace in a bit!”
Listening to the discussions around him, Roman’s expression wasn’t too good and there was a hint of doubt between his eyebrows.
He couldn’t be sure about Flynn’s ability in physiognomy.
Nathan became even more arrogant and proud.
He looked at Uriah triumphantly and said, “Mr. Wong, let me give my answer first!”
“Okay!” Uriah nodded and opened Nathan’s answer as everyone eagerly awaited it.
“Your uncle has red cheeks, flaring nostrils, restlessness; he has emphysema.”
“The younger sister-in-law has pale swollen skin that is tight and dry with floating eyelids; she has kidney disease.”
“The nephew has yellow swollen skin with blue-purple lips and dark tongue color; he has rheumatic heart disease.”
As soon as Nathan finished speaking, a girl in the crowd immediately raised her voice with skepticism, “I know about my Third Uncle and Auntie’s illness. It’s exactly what Mr. Fletcher said.”
“But my cousin is usually lively. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with him having rheumatic heart disease…”
The young man smiled bitterly while shaking his head, “Mr. Fletcher is right. I went for a physical examination today at the hospital where they found out I have rheumatic heart disease.”
As soon as these words were spoken by him, the Wong family members were all stunned before bursting into amazement one after another.
“All correct! Oh my god! No wonder Mr. Price took him on as an apprentice! To know what illness someone suffers from without taking their pulse… he really is amazing!”
“All three are correct… looking at it this way, Clark’s chances of winning are even smaller now. If he gets one wrong or all wrong, then people will die because of it. This is what happens when you try to appear smarter than you actually are!”
“I’m honored today. I never thought I’d witness something so magical. Mr. Fletcher will become famous very soon. He’ll be known far beyond this area.”
The members of the Wong family all raised their thumbs up while showing disdainful looks towards Flynn. They were looking forward to seeing his embarrassment.
Roman had become like an untouchable deity whose status was no less than that of God himself among them.
If Flynn were a child of a prestigious family, and behaved humbly in every word and action, Roman would have accepted him as his apprentice even though he wasn’t from the same social class. However, Flynn had an arrogant demeanor that made him seem like he looked down on everyone else.
He wore plain clothes with calloused hands and rough skin from being exposed to the elements. Wasn’t this the typical appearance of a country bumpkin? What qualifications did he have to become Roman’s apprentice?
Flynn was aware of their thoughts but remained silent with a faint smile.
“Are you nervous? Don’t be because you also have an illness,” Nathan sneered at Flynn.
“You’re always lethargic and can never muster up any energy or enthusiasm for anything you do. You only speak one sentence instead of two.”
“It’s obvious that your liver is inflamed due to weakness in your energy!”
“I’m sick?” Flynn was taken aback by Nathan’s words but then chuckled before changing the subject.
“You’re only twenty years old yet possess remarkable memory skills that allow you to identify problems with patients at first glance. Impressive.”
“But it’s just opportunistic luck; there will come a time when it fails so don’t rely on it too much.”
“What we see isn’t always true, but what we touch is real!”
“Don’t use it again in the future.”
Nathan was stunned at first before coldly laughing.
“Jealousy! It’s pure jealousy!”
“If you don’t have what it takes, just admit it instead of being envious when others succeed! Your heart is too malicious!”
“I’ve said everything correctly so do you still have anything else to say? Apologize to my master now and promise not to use his name for personal gain again!”
Flynn grinned before replying, “You declared yourself victorious without even seeing my answer?”
“Isn’t that obvious? Mr. Fletcher guessed all three correctly while even if you got one wrong means defeat!”
“Or maybe you guessed one generally without specifying which disease; can’t win like this right? But can you guess them all correctly?”
“I’d rather believe someone could win five million dollars than believe he could guess them all right.”
“Young man, Mr. Fletcher has been studying medicine under Mr. Price since childhood; just this alone puts him miles ahead compared to someone like yourself.”
“I suggest admitting defeat gracefully because if your answers are all incorrect, then how embarrassing would that be?” The Wong family sneered as they thought Flynn was bluffing.
Flynn shook his head lightly before saying, “Mr. Wong, please announce my answer now.”
Nathan looked at Flynn disdainfully and exclaimed, “If that’s the case, then I’ll make you understand what losing really means!”
“Mr. Wong, please read out his results!” The crowd murmured in anticipation of seeing what tricks Flynn had up his sleeve.
Uriah opened Flynn’s paper and quickly scanned its contents. Suddenly, his eyes widened with surprise.
He paused for a moment before slowly reading aloud, “The elderly man has pulmonary bullae and moderate hypertension. His blood lipids are also not good.”
“He has been experiencing frequent diarrhea in the past half month and suffered a fracture in his lower leg ten years ago.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the old man trembled all over with shock and exclaimed, “My goodness! You got everything right! I have all those problems mentioned on the paper! This is incredible! You even know where I fractured my leg ten years ago!”
The entire room erupted into thunderous applause while everyone wore expressions of amazement on their faces.
Nathan was taken aback by this revelation as well; a look of astonishment flashed across his face.
Uriah continued to read, “The woman suffers from kidney disease with calcification points present in her kidneys. Her bladder is also affected since it shares meridians with the kidneys; she experiences frequent urination along with dampness heat syndrome and lower back pain.”
“The woman’s liver is also affected since liver blood requires nourishment from kidney essence which indicates that her liver is not functioning properly either; she experiences dizziness, tinnitus, tremors and numbness.”
“Therefore if we want to treat her kidney disease effectively, we must first address her liver issues!”
“Wow! You’re like a god!” Uriah’s sister-in-law bowed down to Flynn reverently while exclaiming, “Everything you said was spot-on accurate. I have all these problems too!”
“If you can diagnose them so accurately, then surely your treatment methods must be equally effective? Please help us!” The woman kowtowed repeatedly towards Flynn.
“What?! How could this be possible? How did you know all this?” Nathan stood up abruptly staring at Flynn incredulously while being completely dumbfounded by what he had just witnessed.
Flynn ignored him completely but instead told the woman calmly, “Mr. Price can treat your illness so please ask him later.”
Roman chuckled heartily, “I’m brothers-in-arms with your grandpa here so don’t worry about it too much. Let me take a look later on.”
Uriah continued reading, “The young man has heart problems due to insufficient negative energy within his kidneys which leads to excessive positive energy within his heart causing imbalance.”
“The reason for insufficient negative energy within his kidneys stems from watching too many adult films without restraint leading to various chain reactions occurring within the body.”
“I estimate that he uses up an entire roll of toilet paper per week due to excessive frequency which even if compared against a donkey would still be considered excessively high output for more than thirty times per week!”
“The young man probably has urinary frequency and the problem of not being able to completely empty his bladder. His prostate is likely causing issues.”
“Stop talking, please!” Uriah’s nephew blushed and quickly interrupted. “The gentleman is right. I do have the problem of not being able to completely empty my bladder, and my physical examination did reveal prostatitis…”
The room fell silent.
Everyone was surprised as they looked at the paper in Uriah’s hand, filled with words. They finally understood why Flynn was taking so long to write down his answers.
Not only did he identify all three people’s illnesses, but he also found the reasons behind them!
