For the remaining two days of the bet, Mr Adams tried his best to sleep with Anna but Anna stayed glued to her decision not to have anything to do with Mr Adams. Anna still kept it in mind that Mr Adams is her son’s boss and tried not to get him angry but just stuck to avoiding his attempts at her.
Anna never told Dave any of these things happening between her and his boss, as she was worried Dave would loose his job for no justified reason.
She was aware that if she was to tell Dave everything then he would quit his job.
Dave on the other hand, couldn’t find anything against his mother, Mr Adams or even Mr Charles that he believes they were hiding from him and he decided to put it behind him.
Anna noticed that Mr Adams had stopped coming to her home after two days of failure in his attempts. Anna is very happy, but of course not knowing that that was just the beginning of her problems.
Adams had lost the bet to Johnson and had given him the money he asked for.
Now Mr Adams was out to destroy Anna, and his best way to do it is through Dave, Anna’s son.
Anna’s POV
“Eat up son. You’ll need your energy for work.” I said happily.
I was so happy that Mr Adams has given up his delusion of having me.
“You sound so happy mother. Tell me, what’s the secret?” Dave said.
“If I tell you then it wouldn’t be a secret anymore.” I replied
“Come on mother.” He insisted but I held strong.
“Okay. I won’t bother you about it.” He said plainly.
“Eat up.” I said and he continued to eat.
Mr Charles and he drove Dave to work as usual.
I was just so happy. I finally have Mr Adams off my back. I can finally have freedom. Peace of mind at last!
Dave POV
Mr Charles and I entered the company and as usual we parted to our own desks. I sat there remembering my mother’s mood this morning. I was very happy to see my mother smiling that way.
Mr Adams was already in his office working by now.
I watched as the other employees were typing some things into their laptops and computers.
I must admit that I feel very jealous of their jobs most of the time. I had always wanted something more than a mere errand boy. Something that would make people all over the world know my name.
Like my best friend, Hilton, I always wanted to be a businessman. I’ve often daydreamed about it. I would close my eyes imagining I and Hilton working together in our very own companies.
“Dave!” I heard Mr Adams call.
“Sir.” I said and ran into his office.
“What’s wrong with you?!” Are you crazy?! I’ve been calling you for the past two minutes and yet no reply!” He said in anger.
Oh no. He must have been calling me while I was daydreaming again.
“I’m sorry sir. It won’t repeat itself.” I apologized with my face to the ground.
“It better not, cause if it does, then consider yourself jobless.” He said angrily and I nodded fearfully.
Mr Adams hasn’t yelled at me like this before. What’s wrong with him today? I agree that I made a mistake but getting this reaction from him is just too much.
“Go and get me a cup of coffee.” He said in annoyance.
“With or without cream?” I asked.
“With.” He replied.
I quickly left his office and ran to get the coffee. I came back with the coffee and gave it to him. He immediately spat it at my face after drinking it.
“What is the meaning of this?!” He yelled.
I just stood there in shock. I mean, he just spat his coffee at my face. What my next reaction should be, I did not know but I was definitely not happy at all.
“Why did you add so much sugar to it?! I didn’t ask for sugar did I?!” He said in anger.
“No… You didn’t… I’m sorry… It’s my mistake… ” I replied with tears almost rolling down my eyes.
“Take this back and get me a new one! Right now!” He yelled.
I left to get the coffee and then brought to him what he wanted.
I left his office and went straight to my desk.
Why is Mr Adams treating me this way? What have I done to deserve this from him?
These are the questions I couldn’t help but find myself asking.
Adams POV
Dave gave me the coffee and left my office shamefully. I was so happy at my achievement. I dropped the coffee at the side of my table and continued the work I was doing.
I never really wanted the coffee. I just wanted to teach his mother a lesson for rejecting me.
I won’t bother doing anything to his mother directly. I’ll just use her son to keep torturing her because I know that the best way to harm a woman is through her child.
I smiled in great happiness. I looked through my door and saw Dave seated face down on his desk. I was overjoyed. I’m very sure that what I just did has taken effect on him.
I sat on my desk again and a brilliant idea just came into my head. I smiled and stood up from my desk.
Watch what I do next now. I came out of my office and went straight to my car outside.
Of course I had to make everything look like it just happened on its own and not a well planned attack on Dave.
I took out some files which I didn’t really need at all and went back into the company.
Now I have to make it look like Dave planned it and I didn’t frame everything up. This is going to destroy Dave. I will hurt him emotionally and that he cries in front of everyone here.
