Madeline looked puzzled, but in an instant, it all clicked for her. “Mr. Davies, you must have paid a high price to convince Orion,” she said.
“Did you tell him about the upcoming IPO and sell him some shares?” Madeline asked in surprise.
Alan was taken aback and could only awkwardly smile. “Um…”
Madeline sighed. “You sacrificed so much of the Davies family’s interests for me. I don’t know how to repay you.”
Alan cleared his throat and chuckled. “Madeline, what thanks do we need between us?”
“It’s good to know my feelings for you!”
The conversation between the two made Flynn, who was preparing to leave, well aware of it.
Scarlet followed behind him with a furrowed brow.
She had been observing and confirmed that Orion’s attitude changed only after seeing Flynn – not because of Layla or Alan’s efforts at all!
Both sides were mistaken!
“Idiot!” Flynn glanced at Alan before turning around and leaving.
Alan’s face darkened as he turned and shouted, “Who are you insulting? Useless trash trying to act tough almost got Madeline hurt.”
Madeline was also angry and questioned Flynn in a cold voice, “You didn’t help at all and caused trouble everywhere. Mr. Davies worked so hard for us, yet you don’t even thank him but insult him. Do you have any conscience?”
Madeline had started to think positively of Flynn after he saved her life but immediately became disgusted with his attitude towards his benefactor.
Flynn sneered coldly before turning around and leaving.
“Mr. Davies, don’t mind that lunatic. He doesn’t understand manners after being in jail for so long!” Madeline said irritably.
Alan laughed generously, “Of course I wouldn’t lower myself to the level of a country bumpkin.”
“Oh right! Madeline, you received the payment from the Guild’s debt. Hurry up and buy stocks since it’s almost time for us to go public,” Alan said excitedly.
“Great! Let’s go transfer the money now!” Madeline nodded her head in agreement.
Scarlet grabbed onto Madeline’s arm and whispered softly, “Madeline, I think today’s incident might not have anything to do with Alan. Orion is afraid of Flynn.”
Madeline chuckled lightly before saying teasingly, “Scarlet, I’m sure Flynn must have given you some love potion.”
“A former inmate who spent ten years in prison, and Mr. Kennedy is afraid of him? He’s not even worth a glance!”
“You’re still young. Don’t be fooled by Flynn.”
Scarlet watched Madeline’s back as she left, her heart rippling.
Orion saw the figure and his face changed drastically. If he wasn’t a big shot, what was he?
Unfortunately, the Kaur family didn’t notice anything and didn’t want to delve deeper because it wasn’t worth wasting any energy on Flynn for them.
“Madeline, if you say that, then I won’t be polite!” Scarlet walked quickly towards the parking lot.
The parking lot.
Just as Flynn opened the car door, Edwin sent a message.
“Boss, I have results from the investigation you asked me to do – Luca Johnston spread those rumors about that big battle!”
“He’s from the Dragon Gate Group and Johnston’s eldest son in Niarak!”
“Luca!” Flynn squinted his eyes and a storm of frost exploded in his pupils under his eyebrows.
Just as he was about to get into the car, Scarlet walked over.
“How did you meet the Pearce family?”
“What’s your relationship with Layla Woods?”
“Why was Orion Kennedy scared when he saw you?”
Flynn replied irritably, “What does it have to do with you?”
Scarlet sat directly in the passenger seat.
“Let’s go, I’ll treat you to dinner!”
“Why are you treating me?” Flynn asked coldly, confused.
Scarlet smiled and said, “Thank you for rescuing me from Olivier!”
“I’m not going!” Flynn refused outright. He had to find Luca, cure Callie Pearce’s illness and also visit Kevin Sharp’s daughter. He didn’t have time for this.
“You’re not going? Then I’ll call you a thug! No one will believe anything except what I say!” Scarlet acted like a spoiled child.
Flynn was annoyed but reluctantly agreed.
The two of them went to the Peninsula Hotel. After they sat down, Scarlet got straight to the point, “I believe that the loan and what just happened were both your doing. The matter of Davies’ Pharmaceuticals losing 100 million can’t be faked either.”
Flynn said coldly, “If you believe that, then persuade Madeline to withdraw her investment from it. They’re bound to go bankrupt sooner or later.”
“I’ve tried, but Madeline doesn’t listen. She even suspects I have feelings for you.” She shifted closer to Flynn, crossing her legs in their silk stockings and revealing a expanse of chest. The fragrance of a young woman wafted towards him and he edged away slightly.
“Madeline won’t believe me. I’ll have to talk to Mr. Kaur instead.”
“After all, if they go bankrupt, the Kaur family will be ruined.”
Scarlet nodded before asking with big eyes blinking, “Flynn, do you like Madeline?”
Flynn replied calmly, “The Kaur family has been kind to me and Madeline was good to me when we were kids. Agreeing to marry her is just fulfilling my mother’s dying wish.”
“I’ll protect the Kaur family silently for a while longer until this fate ends naturally,” he added.
Flynn had been in Niarak with his mother for eighteen years and Matteo had taken care of him well during that time. This was also why Flynn didn’t want to pursue the matter further, despite Alan repeatedly taking credit.
Flynn didn’t want to ruin the already bloodless family relationship.
“You don’t have feelings for Madeline!” Scarlet hugged Flynn’s arm, smiling sweetly.
“Well then, what do you think of me?”
Flynn’s arm brushed against her chest, feeling like he was sinking into a soft cotton ball – warm and smooth.
