Hattie was not exaggerating or trying to scare anyone. She had seen Elisa’s case before and had performed surgery on her this time, so no one knew Elisa’s condition better than she did.
Hamish’s face changed instantly, his hands trembled, and his throat moved. “Is her uterus still intact?”
Hattie furrowed her brows. Apart from work, she was slow to react to other things. She looked at Hamish in confusion, clearly not understanding what he meant. Nevertheless, she honestly replied, “Yes, it is.”
“If it’s still there, why can’t she get pregnant?” In his opinion, as long as the uterus was still inside her, with proper care, she should be able to conceive.
Hattie’s expression froze, then she furrowed her brows tightly and took a deep breath. “Do you even know what her physical condition is? Forcing a pregnancy would lead to habitual miscarriages. Do you have any idea how much damage it would cause to her body?”
Her skin was sagging, her complexion was poor, and even if Elisa’s stomach cancer was cured, these diseases would continue to linger in her body, becoming the root of her suffering, causing extreme pain, and shortening her lifespan.
Hamish said, “It won’t kill her to harm her body.” That was the belief he had always held. Elisa wouldn’t die easily; he would continue to torment her.
His words sounded grating to Hattie’s ears. She had always heard Micah say that Hamish was a scumbag, and now she had witnessed it firsthand. Perhaps the word “scumbag” couldn’t fully describe him anymore.
As a doctor, she despised many types of people, and one of them was troublemakers who didn’t take patients seriously, who didn’t listen to medical advice.
Such people would probably only regret it when they truly lost everything.
Unable to control her anger, Hattie sarcastically retorted, “Since you’re not the one getting pregnant and you won’t be harmed, of course, you think it’s no big deal!”
Her tone was unpleasant, and her gaze was icy. She even sneered, “Would you like me to make a cut on your belly, take out your organs, and put them back in, so you can experience what it’s like when it won’t kill you?”
Hamish’s face turned extremely ugly. He believed that this doctor was deliberately looking for trouble. “I was talking about getting pregnant, not undergoing surgery.”
“According to what you’re saying, wasn’t I performing surgery just now? Or do you think it’s natural for women to give birth? Should they endure that pain?”
Hamish’s pupils contracted, and Hattie could see from his expression that this scumbag of a man really thought that way.
“There’s a pregnancy simulation machine in the hospital. Take your time and try from level one to level twelve. After you’ve experienced it, think carefully about the things you just said.”
Only someone sick would try those things.
“Are you really her husband?” Hattie looked at him suspiciously. No matter how she looked at him, she couldn’t see any trace of a husband in this man.
He disregarded his wife’s health and forcefully wanted her to get pregnant.
It was more accurate to say that he was a creditor rather than a husband. It was as if Elisa owed him something, showing no decency.
Hamish didn’t say anything, but his face clearly showed impatience.
Hattie was even more impatient than him. “Don’t say you’re her husband. Even if you were her parents, you would not have the right to demand that she must get pregnant. Her body belongs to her, and you have no right to interfere. I kindly remind you to leave room for yourself in your actions, so you won’t have regrets later.”
Hamish’s brow twitched, and he asked, “What do you mean?”
“Figure it out for yourself.” At that moment, a young nurse walked over, holding a medical record book in her hand.
Hattie focused on the paper with a pen, making sure the prescribed medication was correct. After confirming it, she signed and tore off a copy, handing one to the nurse and one to Hamish. “Go and get the prescription filled.”
