It’s still dark. He pins me more tightly to the wall, claiming my lips.
“What’s it?” I coldly ask and he turns on the switch. I gasp in horror at what I sight.
Three demons. So scary but not as huge or gigantic as I think they will be.
“What are these for?” I question him, stretching forth my hands towards them.
“They are here for you.” He clips and hugs me sideways. “I can see you’re hell scared but I’m in control of them. I won’t make that mistake Jason made – mistake of being under the power of a demon. I have power over them all as I speak.”
“I know that right. I’m cool with you.” I tell him and he hugs me better.
“So, what are these for?” I ask now, aiming to get a genuine response.
“For real, I’ve told the truth. They’re here for you. They didn’t come here to joke.” He says and I reply almost immediately.
“Come on, Alex! I never said they came here to joke. Do demons laugh? They don’t crack jokes.” I bark at him. “What are these shit here for?”
They groan after I say that, shaking their bodies terribly but not moving from a spot.
“We are wolves, not dogs. You shouldn’t have barked.” Alex says, and hugs me still. I detach my arms from him as I walk towards the door to get out.
“Do you even know anywhere here?” He asks and crosses his arms across his chest, waiting to see my next move.
“We’ll be rulers. We’ll get to strange places and we have to adapt quickly.” I state. I force the door open and I get out. He rushes out to get me but I run forwards so that he doesn’t catch up with me. Once he tries to employ his wolf to pursue me, I do, too. I finally let him get me as I lean my back on the wall. He staggers forward and grabs me by my arm, stifling giggles with contempt.
“Aren’t we out of the house already?” I ask, feeling like I’ve done more than I should.
“We aren’t, we aren’t. Come on, don’t keep the demons waiting.” He tells me and we hurry back into the room. We see the three demons still where they are, but now groaning more.
“I’ve just never let you see them. They’ve been following me since my birth. Now, they’ll have to leave me as I’ve gained the control I need. I said to unblock your view from seeing them, probably you’ll know better about me and you could say a word of greeting.”
“Fuck courtesy! Why should I greet demons?” I howl.
“But, they helped me.” He calmly says, feeling disappointed.
“And when they did?” I ask, smirking and placing my hands on my wrist.
“It’s me. It’s Alex, Lisa.” He repeats, beating his chest slowly.
“And when it’s you? What does it change?” I ask and start to laugh out loud since I see his mood change. I only decided to prank him. I wave at the three dwarf demons and they wave in return.
It shocks me to realize that and I ask Alex to confirm if they really did.
“Don’t confirm anymore. I need you to get them out of here. Safe Journey, short ones.” I say and they start to move out, groaning. Before they get to the doorstep, they vanish, which makes me hiccup.
“You’re too creepy.” I remark.
“You’re good at discoveries.” He says and shrugs.
“Um… Alex, more to what we discussed. Now that you have the power to do and undo, kindly let me know when you’ll mark me as your mate and we’ll officially get a pack house.”
“We still have tasks ahead of us to accomplish.” He says as though I knew he would.
I hit my hand on a wooden table near me to demonstrate my frustration.
“Not again.” I say.
“Not again.” He repeats. No, he affirms. My mood becomes better when I discover.
“But the moon goddess will require some other things along the way. I want to prepare so I’ll be the fastest, smartest, and quickest.”
“I… I don’t understand. Are you competing with someone?” I ask, rolling my eyes gently at him.
“Yeah. During my time previous years ago, your dad was not just a competitor, he qualified more than I did but used me as a stepping stone to his kingship. So now that I’m about to go for it, a lot of people will compete too. But only a few will be chosen.”
I release my breathe after the last sentence. I thought only an Alpha is chosen at a go.
“It’ll be marvelous.” I comment and we both high-five.
“Did the moon goddess not slate a time, maybe for you to mark me or have the official authority over all pack houses?” I ask.
“Yeah. The question I’ve been expecting you to ask since ages. All you’ve been asking are unnecessary.” He remarks. “She promised that in a week’s time, but…”
“But me no buts.” I cut in, shooting a deadly galre at him.
“Well…” He shrugs his shoulders and clears his throat. “… don’t be the one to blame me for not discovering the truth. If you discover late, it won’t be okay enough.”
“Okay. So, what is the ‘but?’ I now want to hear.” I say, grabbing his palm as though I want to consume it.
“I need more blood.” He states.
“As though you didn’t get more than enough from Jason’s and dad’s pack houses.” I comment and he rolls his eyes at me, laughing.
“That’s not enough, mate.” He says. “But, she can do me a favour. We can even request that she comes here if she’ll agree to descend here. She’s not up, don’t ask me.” He says and I release my breathe, sighing. I wanted to ask him.
“What’s the favor?”
*******
We walk downstairs, aiming to go greet my in-laws again. I had told him already that I was pranking him for yelling at him. Even if his mum doesn’t even like to see me, at least I won’t kill myself. I will still be available here, even if it is for the next one week.
“What’s their names?” I ask informally.
“One’s Claire. One’s Grenada and another is Gabriella.” He says as we saunter down the staircase. I hold onto him – for fun and excitement, and not to fall.
“Who’s Claire here?” I excitedly ask as I get to the sitting room. They’re all seated and amazed at my reaction. Alex quickly holds my lips, feeling mad at me.
“She didn’t mean to say that.” He says, trying to cover up. I resist the urge to speak back and ensure they know I mean my words. But once the urge comes again, I refuse to resist it.
“I meant my words. Who’s Claire or Grenada?” I ask politely as Alex turns to look at me with a cool face.
“You’re being conversational, aren’t you?” He gently asks so he won’t be disappointed. Once he notices that I and his mum keep staring at each other without saying a word, he intends to lead me back upstairs.
“Don’t try it.” The grannie says. “She’s cool. Like, no one of whom you brought here acted as freely as she did.”
“You…. brought someone here before?” I ask him, trying to leave but he grabs me by my waist, looking into my eyes.
“If you dare leave…” He threatens with a menacingly silent voice. “… I’ll fuck you once I catch up with you. I swear, I won’t wait.”
My instinct tells me to go, and see his reaction. We agreed not to do this till we are mated to each other, will he ever try to break it?
My instinct also tells me to wait and not irk an Alpha. A whole upcoming greatest Alpha. I smile at him, extracting his hands from my waist.
“It’s fine if you don’t want me to leave but caution your…” I say, loudly but lower my voice once I see some unwanted stares. “… your mother, I don’t like her face. I’ll kill her if you don’t mind.”
“They forgot Claire hears from a distance.” She suddenly says and guffaws. I now know she’s the Claire. I tap Alex on his shoulder to help me beg him but he doesn’t move. There’s actually nothing bad about it if I kill her. Afterall, Alex’s killing my dad to get me. I also don’t have a mum. I never experienced motherly care.
“I’m sorry for everything that happened to you.” Alex hugs me tightly when a tear drops from my eyes. I had started thinking about my past again and the sacrifice I had to make, just to get mated to my destined mate.
I don’t bother denying it since he saw everything already.
“Let me say sorry to your mum as well.” I say and then I see that the mark on his neck is now in my neck as well. I rub my eyes to confirm that.
“Why the same mark?”
