In the crowd, there was a woman who had been quietly watching Amy. She nodded lightly when Amy left, and the young man beside her immediately leaned over. She raised her hand, and a jade ring on her ring finger emitted a faint glow.
“Follow her and see if she’s the woman Lucas has been seeing lately.”
The young man followed immediately.
Amy left the hotel, driving a bit fast. She raced through several streets before stopping by an old alley. Leaning on the steering wheel for a while, she looked out of the car window. Seeing Snow, her father’s face kept flashing in her mind. From now on, no one would love her as much as her father did.
At the entrance of the alley, there was a small stall selling spicy snacks. Since she hadn’t had lunch yet, she decided to go over and order a bowl of extremely spicy beef skewers. She ate alone, sweating profusely.
When sad, don’t cry; sweating is enough.
Suddenly, she lost her appetite, and her head began to ache faintly. After forcing herself to eat a few bites, the pain intensified. She should go for a recheck; it’s not good to forget about her illness just because the pain subsided.
“What’s wrong?” The owner noticed her pale complexion and approached her.
“Give me a glass of water,” Amy pressed her temple and said softly.
The owner quickly poured a glass of water for her.
After drinking, the headache suddenly intensified again. She pushed away the glass, leaned forward completely, fists against her forehead, hunched over the chair like a hedgehog.
“Are you okay?” The stall owner became a bit frightened; what if it was food poisoning? She couldn’t afford such losses with her small business.
Her phone began to ring urgently. Trembling, she reached out to touch the phone and managed to press the answer button. Dizziness overwhelmed her, and the world went black as she collapsed from her chair.
The stall owner was startled and quickly picked up the phone. “Hello, hello, your friend fainted.”
Despite fearing potential losses, it was a matter of life. She called for an ambulance, sweating profusely as she followed the ambulance to the hospital.
The strong smell of disinfectant reminded Amy, even in her unconscious state, of the last night she spent guarding her father in the hospital.
Because she remained unconscious, the doctors determined that it wasn’t due to food poisoning, took some X-rays, and decided to keep her for observation.
Naylor listened to her murmuring all along, and her pale face evoked pity.
But those faint purplish love bites on her arms and shoulder blades made him somewhat uneasy.
Did she have a boyfriend? Was it Lucas? Naylor looked at the white phone in his hand, hesitating whether to open and check it. But wouldn’t that be too nosy? He put the phone down, lowering his head to watch her uneasy sleeping face.
“Sir, she fainted by herself, nothing to do with me. I need to go back to do business,” the stall owner auntie stood behind him, dejected.
“It’s okay, you can go back. I have to thank you,” Naylor turned around, grinned, revealing his white teeth. It was fortunate she called him in time; otherwise, this auntie wouldn’t have known what to do.
As the sky gradually darkened, Amy slowly woke up.
She furrowed her brows, realizing she was in the hospital.
“Awake.” Naylor stood up, looking down at her.
“Why are you here?” Amy looked at him puzzled.
“Oh, when you fainted, I happened to be calling you. Your stomach isn’t well; why did you eat such spicy food?”
Stomach problems again, all from these past few months. She rubbed her temples, sat up, and whispered, “Hospitalization… I don’t want to stay.”
“Stay for observation for one night before going home,” Naylor pressed her shoulder, persuading her softly.
“How much?” She looked up at him.
“Do you have a boyfriend?” Naylor chuckled and asked her.
“Why?” Amy frowned, extremely displeased. Why was this man so nosy?
“If you have a boyfriend, I’ll tell you the medical expenses are twelve hundred. If not, I’ll tell you I’ll cover it,” Naylor laughed softly.
Amy really didn’t have a boyfriend, only a demon of a husband. But she had no interest in discussing that with Naylor. She counted some money from her bag, straightened it out, and handed it to him.
Naylor stared at her hand, raising an eyebrow, and took it from her.
“Amy, I think there are also fees for my service, as well as bedside fees…”
He intended to make a joke, but unexpectedly, Amy let out a sigh, raised her head, looked at him quietly for a few seconds, and softly said, “Can you take me out for a meal? I’m hungry.”
Naylor hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly.
