Amy sat alone by the window, scribbling on a piece of paper with a ballpoint pen. It was only now that she began to feel a bit scared… The Green Decoration Company? How could she dare to say such a thing?
So, could she ask Lucas for help? She hesitated for a moment, took out her phone, and stared at his name for a long time before finally dialing the number.
As the phone rang, her heartbeat quickened. Would he mock her and say she was out of her depth?
“What’s up?” Lucas’s voice suddenly came through.
Amy remained silent for a moment before whispering, “Nothing, I dialed the wrong number.”
“The wrong number? Miss me?” Lucas’s voice was indeed filled with sarcasm, making it uncomfortable to listen to.
“What’s with you? I did dial the wrong number. I’ll hang up.” Amy frowned slightly and hung up the phone.
“Amy.” A familiar voice sounded beside her, and she turned her head to see Naylor smiling amiably at her.
“Naylor, what a coincidence.” She nodded indifferently and continued to scribble on the paper.
“Not a coincidence, I saw you outside…” Naylor pointed to the large glass window and, without asking if she was willing, sat directly across from her. “Can you buy me a cup of coffee?”
“I don’t have money.” Amy was not polite at all. Now, she saw no man as a good person!
“In that case, I’ll treat Amy to two cups of Blue Mountain.” He beckoned with a finger, and the waiter immediately went downstairs.
” I’d like some alone time. There are plenty of empty seats here.” Amy looked around and pointed to the other side, urging Naylor to leave.
Naylor’s expression became somewhat awkward. After a brief silence, he smiled and touched his nose, getting up to leave. “It seems I’m not a welcome guest. I’m sorry.”
As he walked away, he muttered under his breath, “I have a renovation company. If you’re willing…”
Amy turned her head, a glimmer of hope in her big brown eyes, but it only lasted for a moment before fading away. Amy, do you know him well?
She ignored Naylor and didn’t know when he left. Anyway, the waiter came over and said that someone had paid for her bill.
That’s good, over six hundred for four cups of coffee… She only earned two thousand and one in a month!
As she walked out, in the other corner of the café, Lucas, sitting behind a plant with broad leaves, finally withdrew his gaze. The deep twin eyes gradually calmed.
“Did you really marry her? Aren’t you afraid she’ll find out the truth?” Sitting across from him was Sherry, her crimson nails lightly skimming the documents spread out in front of her.
“Sherry, mind your own business.” Lucas’s face darkened, and he pulled out some money from his wallet and threw it on the table, then left in large strides.
Amy didn’t go back; she wandered aimlessly on the road. Whenever she saw advertisements for renovation companies, she would stop and look for a while. When a car honked behind her, she had been walking like this for over half an hour.
“Lucas?” She looked at the lowered car window, her face full of astonishment.
“Get in. Accompany me for some errands.” Lucas said indifferently and rolled up the car window.
Amy could only get in, sitting directly in the back seat.
“What, afraid I’ll touch your leg while driving?” Lucas glanced at her through the rearview mirror, mocking.
“Can’t you speak nicely?” Amy retorted.
“Come here, let me kiss you.” Lucas was even more inappropriate, reaching back to grab her hand.
“You’re driving.” Amy panicked and kept shaking her hand.
“If you don’t come over for a kiss, we’ll crash into the car ahead.” Lucas firmly held her hand, and the car surged forward rapidly. Amy hurriedly leaned over and lightly pecked his cheek.
“That doesn’t count.” Lucas still didn’t let her go.
“What do you want?” Amy’s face was burning.
“Hurry up.” He turned his head again, his hand gripping her wrist painfully.
Amy had no choice but to lean in again, hesitating for a moment before kissing his lips lightly.
“Good girl, I’ll reward you well tonight.” He finally smirked, looking mischievous.
Amy’s face was about to burn. She covered her face and looked out the window in annoyance. The car gradually left the city, and after hesitating for a while, she asked him softly, “Lucas, have we met before?”
Lucas smiled and asked back, “Should I have met you?”
Amy didn’t know how to respond, so she continued to play the role of the silent lamb.
The car drove further and finally stopped in front of an abandoned yard, with broken bricks scattered everywhere and weeds growing rampant. Several characters indicating demolition were drawn on the half-white wall, and there were still intact glass windows.
