“What’s wrong? You didn’t even say hello when you saw an old friend. This job was given to you by me. How about it? I’ve already invested thirty percent in this company and become one of the major shareholders.”
She knew it. Nothing good would fall into her lap! Amy looked at him coldly and asked angrily, “What do you want?”
“I want you to continue being with me, to be my woman.” Neil raised his eyebrows playfully.
“Secret lovers?” Amy’s eyes were bloodshot. Neil was too cruel, trampling her most innocent first love like mud.
“You can think of it that way, but I prefer to call you darling.” Neil leaned in, actually attempting to kiss her.
“Get off me!” Amy swung her hand to push him away, but Neil was prepared and immediately caught her wrist, dragging her onto the sofa.
“Don’t act like a virgin, Amy. You used to pretend to be so pure, but didn’t you end up being a bad girl in Las Vegas?”
“Neil, you bastard!”
Amy’s eyes were filled with fury. She had once held her true feelings for him and regarded him as her true love… time and time again, he stabbed her heart ruthlessly. She was furious, and with one kick, she hit his vital area…
Neil screamed and rolled off the sofa onto the floor.
“Neil, I will make sure you can’t stay in K City!” Amy quickly got up, pointed at him angrily.
Neil curled up in pain, trying to get up but unable to, he could only glare at Amy with bloodshot eyes.
“Alright, let’s see what you’ve got. I will definitely conquer you, sex with you!”
Amy’s heart turned as numb as a stone in an instant. She looked at Neil’s twisted face with sorrow and turned away. How could her judgment have been so clouded at that time?
People were peeking their heads out in the corridor. Their commotion had attracted the attention of the neighboring offices.
“Who speaks Spanish? We have customers from Chile… What are you doing?”
A middle-aged man’s voice came from the front, and everyone quickly dispersed.
Amy tidied her hair and clothes, straightened her chest, and walked past the crowd.
In the lobby, there was a couple with brown hair and blue eyes, gesturing at the front desk. Amy could speak English, French, and Spanish. With a thought, she walked over. After a brief conversation, she understood that the couple had just arrived in K City, liked the city, and wanted to temporarily settle here. They wanted to renovate their café, but no one spoke Spanish, and their English was not very good, making communication difficult.
Amy glanced back at the onlookers and then at Neil behind the crowd. With a smirk, she said to the couple, “If you don’t mind, I’d like to invite you for a cup of coffee and discuss the details of the café.”
“May I ask who you are?” The couple looked at each other suspiciously and asked.
“I’m Amy, a designer from The Green Decoration Company.” Amy lied directly, although her face was flushing a bit, she just wanted to lure this couple away.
Although it was bold and crazy, what couldn’t Amy do?
Since no one was willing to hire her, she would start her own business!
There’s nothing impossible, only things you haven’t thought of! Amy, even if you’ve been unlucky, today marks the end!
The couple smiled and nodded, following Amy out. Amy hailed a taxi and headed straight to a charming café in the city center.
On the way, she called Lucy and asked her to quickly bring her the money for last night’s bill at Vivi’s, or else she wouldn’t have money to pay.
She had visited countless cafés in the city with Neil before, but sitting here again, her heart felt dry, devoid of any romantic hues.
“You’re insane! You’re committing fraud!” Lucy’s eyes widened when she heard Amy’s plan.
Amy calmly adjusted her long hair in front of the mirror and said, “What fraud can I commit? Worst case scenario, I’ll use the property certificate as collateral. I don’t believe I can’t get a renovation done.”
“You’re thinking too simplistically.” Lucy furrowed her brows, hands on her hips. “Where will you get the renovation team? Can you design?”
Amy took a deep breath and whispered, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way. My dad has friends in this line of work…”
“They would have helped if they were willing! You forgot how that bald guy offended you last night? Here’s your payment for last night.” Lucy took out a wad of cash from her wallet and threw it on the sink, then walked away.
Amy counted the money, totaling two thousand and one. She carefully pocketed the money, walked out of the restroom, and resumed discussing renovation matters with the couple. After arranging to meet again in two days for further discussion, the couple left first.
