Ivan was so keen on knowing why his grandfather sealed a deal without him, the CEO of the company. He was hell bent on finding out why, but that was before Easton Landers said what he just said. Now Ivan was scared and shivering on the inside, even though it did his best to make it less visible.
“Have I been deficient recently?” Ivan interrogated himself silently while he waited for his grandfather to give him a reason.
Ivan thought it was a mistake not inviting him to seal the business deal. He hoped his grandfather, Easton Landers would apologize but it wasn’t the case because it was intentionally done by his grandfather.
“Why are you silent now? You are no longer agitating to know why I left you out on the business deal?”
“Tell me! I’m just so surprised that whatever I did, you didn’t call me to order like you would always do.”
For Ivan, his grandfather’s opinion about him was the only thing that mattered. He didn’t care about anything else as long as his grandfather was happy and approved of whatever he did.
“You felt I should call you to order?” Easton scoffed in disgust at the utterances made by Ivan.
“You are no longer a kid or a teenage boy that I’ll waste a lot of time reprimanding. I do not have the time nor the energy to keep up with your nonchalant behavior!”
Nonchalant?! Ivan could not believe what he just heard his grandfather say to him. All his life was centered around the Landers’ Company. Everything he did and worked towards was just to make it better so his grandfather could be happy and approve of him.
“The company has experienced a twenty percent drop in profit, two business meetings with potential clients are still left unattended to, and guess who is in charge of all this?”
“Ivan, of course.” Katty echoed from behind. She had a brisk smile flaunted on her lips. It was very easy to tell that she was enjoying the little show between Ivan and Easton Landers.
“I was busy and you know that!” Ivan didn’t even know when he raised his voice at his grandfather.
“You were busy? With what exactly? Trying to find a girl who doesn’t want anything to do with you? You lost control of your marriage and now you want to lose control of my company?!”
Easton was not done chiding Ivan. “If you can put the same energy you used in yelling at me into the company then I bet we would not be having this conversation now.”
As usual, Daisy would try to calm the situation. She helped dilute the toxicity in the family. She had never seen Easton Landers and Ivan in such a word tussle before. It was scary, they were getting out of control with their words, not minding if they’d hurt each other’s feelings.
“Please, please. Calm down grandpa, please.”
Daisy tried countless times to get them to take a chill pill but it was futile. The ranting went on, even getting worse.
“If you would like to know, Katty was the one who stood in for you to sign the deal while you were busy lazing around.”
Easton Landers was the one who kept urging Ivan to find Nelly and now he was suddenly against it, saying that it was irrelevant and the time Ivan was putting in the search was causing him his company? Ivan could hardly fathom.
“You can’t do that grandpa! You can’t take away Ivan’s right just because of a silly mistake. We all know he’s going through a hard time, what we should do is to help him cope.”
Now they understood why Katty said she would be involved in the conversation. Ivan was stunned, he would never dream that Katty would go behind his back to do something like that. He expected her to always let him know when something like this was about to happen. After all, he knew she had feelings for him, he felt it was going to be a stronghold advantage to get whatever information he needed from her but as it turned out, Katty’s ambition was stronger than whatever feeling she had for Ivan.
To Daisy –
“I can do whatever I want to. If he’s not going to show me why he deserves the position he has, I don’t mind giving it to someone else.” Easton Landers walked out on them.
That Someone else would definitely have to be Katty. Daisy would never dream to usurp Ivan no matter what.
Ash was still trying to get a hold of Vivian after the fallout she had with him but she was refusing to pick his calls.
“I’ll give it one last try,” he said before trying for the seventieth time since the fallout.
Vivian picked up the call on the last attempt of Ash.
“What the hell is wrong with you, Vivian?! I’ve been calling you for the past eight hours and you just deemed it fit to pick the call now?”
“Did you call me just to scold me or you called to apologize?”
“Apologize? I’ve been apologizing to you since yesterday. I know I overreacted but I wasn’t wrong to react in such a way.”
“If you won’t be sensible enough I swear I’m going to hang up this call and I’m never going to speak to you till the end of this week.”
Ash knew he was never going to make a point, all he had to do was apologize to get her to calm down.
Just before Ash could apologize, Mr. Lincoln called to interrupt the conversation between Ash and Vivian.
“Why are you sounding so worried, my princess?” Lincoln sounded so loving.
Just as he expected, Vivian complained to him about all that was going on between her and Ash.
He laughed a lot when she told him Ash was jealous because he dropped her off at home.
“He should take care of his queen if he doesn’t want anyone dropping her off.” Lincoln remarked. Vivian could perceive the sexual affection in his voice.
“Come over, I want to show you something,” Lincoln said.
