Chapter 279 Ending 2

Book:The Revenge of My Alluring Wife Published:2024-6-4

“Then go ahead and call the police,” she looked up at Mia. “Then we’ll see if the police will arrest you, the auctioneer, or me, the good citizen exposing social evils.”
“These things were actually anonymously sent to me. I brought them here today not to cause trouble, but to find an opportunity to return them to you. It’s not my fault.”
“You!” Mia didn’t believe her words at all. “You planned our reactions perfectly, so you set traps for me and my mom.”
“Evelyn, you’re so ruthless.”
Evelyn stood up. “Here’s a piece of advice for you. What goes around comes around.”
With that, she left.

The contents of the wedding scene were quickly leaked. The next day, the front page headlines of all the newspapers were filled with the story of Mia and Jasper…
Meanwhile, inside The Wilson Group building.
Henry was looking through the latest project contracts when David came in with a serious expression. “Boss, we found her.”
Henry’s hand holding the pen paused, and he looked up. “What’s the matter?”
“Boss, after days of deciphering, they found the final location of V God’s last upload, it’s near the mansion.”
David was both excited and incredulous. He reminded in a low voice, “Last time it was near our own mansion. And I asked Eleanor, Madam actually came back that day. But not long after, she left in a hurry, and before she left, she specifically instructed Eleanor…”
He didn’t need to finish the sentence.
David’s mind went blank, finding it hard to believe the result.
“Boss, am I dreaming?”
Henry glanced at him lightly.
He didn’t expect his wife to be so capable.
He smiled and then thought of how Evelyn knew he was looking for V God but never wanted to reveal her identity…
Henry fell into contemplation.
David didn’t disturb him, only quietly asking after a while, “Should we explain that matter to Madam?”
“No need.” As long as she didn’t want to, he wouldn’t force her to do anything.

Evelyn originally intended to visit Norman but caught a glimpse of a familiar figure at the entrance of the downtown hospital.
Scarlett!
Scarlett had kidney disease, so it was normal for her to frequently visit the hospital for medication. However, this time she surreptitiously entered a surgical consultation room and didn’t come out for a long time.
She stopped a young nurse and asked about the doctor inside. After learning it was Christopher, she began searching for his information.
Christopher, formerly the deputy chief physician of the kidney department at Affiliated Hospital in the capital.
A renowned internist? How could he be working as a minor surgeon in a place like Memphis?
Evelyn became increasingly suspicious, even deepening her speculations about that matter.
She tucked away Christopher’s information. The door of the consultation room opened.
Evelyn hid in the corner, watching Scarlett and Christopher embrace affectionately.
This scene was getting interesting.
What was the relationship between them?
Evelyn searched the institute’s data and found that there happened to be an archivist in the hospital affiliated with the institute.
She had Gavin give a heads-up beforehand and went straight to the archive room. There might be some information here that couldn’t be found online.
“I’m surnamed Taylor, someone should have called you.”
“Ah, Miss Taylor, please come in.”
“After Gavin mentioned it to me, I searched through the hospital’s records and data, and indeed dug up a piece of Christopher’s past.”
He laid out the documents in front of Evelyn. “Miss Taylor, what you’re looking for should be this kidney transplant surgery, right?”
Evelyn flipped through the information, the donor on it was a bit fuzzy so she couldn’t extract any useful information at all.
“How did you confirm this particular surgery?”
The doctor recalled, “Back then, Christopher was dismissed from the hospital because of this surgery.”
“It’s said that his first love was ill and needed two kidneys urgently. He didn’t follow the hospital’s formal procedures and took on the surgery privately. Although all the documents were complete afterwards, the hospital still felt his behavior was uncontrollable and dismissed him.”
Evelyn’s gaze darkened. She hadn’t expected Scarlett and Christopher to have this kind of relationship.
“Do you know anything about the donor?”
“I’m not too sure,” the doctor replied.
Evelyn couldn’t hide her disappointment. Just as she was about to continue exploring other information, he added, “But I heard she was a woman who died in a car accident.”
“What did you say?” Scenes of her and her mother being ignored on the road after the accident kept flashing in Evelyn’s mind.
She glanced at the surgery date on the form, and it happened to be the same day as her and her mother’s car accident.
Everything seemed too coincidental.
Her previous suspicions seemed to have been confirmed.
Seeing Evelyn’s reaction, the doctor knew this matter was very important to her. He took the documents and flipped to the last page.
“This is the fingerprint the donor pressed, but it’s a bit different from a normal donor’s.”
Evelyn glanced at the dark gray mark on it. “Gasoline?”
“That’s right, gasoline. But I can’t confirm whether someone forced her to press it or if she regained consciousness for a while after the accident.”
“It’s impossible for her to regain consciousness.” They had stayed on the road for so long, and her mother hadn’t shown any reaction. How could she have regained consciousness afterward?
At that time, Evelyn was too young and had even thought her mother was already dead.
James, Scarlett, for their own selfish desires, could even commit such inhumane acts.
Evelyn’s eyes were filled with hatred, and she clenched the documents tightly in her hand.
She would settle all these scores, one by one.

Her phone suddenly rang.
Evelyn glanced at the caller ID. “Grandpa?”
Zebulon hadn’t contacted her in a while. What could be happening this time?
“Hello?” Evelyn repeated, and there was finally a response from the other end.
“Miss Evelyn,” it was the butler’s voice.
Evelyn immediately became alert. “What’s happened?”
“While you were away, the Master has been almost swindled out of his fortune.”
The butler sounded helpless. “James and Ethan have been frequent visitors to the old mansion lately.”
“Every time they come, they bring some alcohol for the master. After drinking, they introduce things like jade and futures to him. Lately, the master seems different. Whatever those two say, he listens.”
This wasn’t Zebulon’s usual character.
If they were drinking every time, the problem must lie with the alcohol.
Now that she had cleared up her mother’s matter and was thinking of ways to deal with James, this man had walked right to her.
Evelyn sneered, “Don’t worry, I’ll go see Grandpa first.”
Before going to the old mansion, Evelyn stopped by the research institute and picked up some health supplements that could make people alert and clear-headed.
Zebulon was in a very bad state. When she arrived, he was still in a drowsy state.
“Master, Miss Evelyn is back,” the butler whispered to Zebulon, but there was still no response.
Seeing this, Evelyn rummaged through the pills and found one that could help awaken him. “Grandpa, take this medicine first,” she said, reaching out to Zebulon’s lips.
But just as her hand touched Zebulon’s lips, James’s voice echoed in Evelyn’s ear. “What are you doing?”
Before she could react, Ethan acted faster, rushing to Evelyn and forcefully throwing the medicine to the ground, crushing it. Evelyn was taken aback. “Why are you two so nervous? Feeling guilty?”
“Guilty? Why should we feel guilty?”
“Throwing away your medicine was to prevent you from harming your Grandpa.”
As the argument escalated, Zebulon’s fingers moved slightly, then he slowly opened his cloudy, lifeless eyes. “… Evelyn.”
“Grandpa.” Evelyn turned to him. “I’m here.”
He nodded faintly, his gaze filled with sorrow. It was evident that he already knew what his two sons had done to him when he was conscious.
“Dad, look carefully. She was trying to secretly feed you medicine to harm you,” James said, kneeling down with a thud.
He took out a small bottle of liquor and said to Zebulon, “Dad, this is wine for you, to prolong your life. Would you like some more?”
Zebulon struggled to resist, but his hand moved involuntarily toward the bottle.
“Evelyn, it hurts, I’m in pain,” Zebulon suddenly cried out, clutching his body, with convulsions.
Evelyn was shocked to see Zebulon’s painful expression. She couldn’t believe that they would go so far for money…
“As long as you can endure it, if you take this medicine for ten days, you won’t feel any pain,” Evelyn said, holding out another pill. “Do you want to try?”
Zebulon gritted his teeth and reached out to take the pill.
“Dad,” James shouted, “you better think it over…”
Zebulon’s cloudy eyes were now filled with determination. Despite his trembling hand, he firmly pushed the pill into his mouth and then closed his eyes tightly.
“Get them… out,” he said with determination.
