Larry’s head rolled, the audience watched, silence filled the air.
Slowly, Asher turned back and saw Roxanne’s sad expression as she stared at Larry’s body. In a flash , he appeared on Alpha’s Peak, directly beside her.
“Are you dissatisfied with how he died? Would you have preferred I spared him?” Asher asked.
Roxanne shook her head in response.
“He reaped what he sowed. I’m just a little regretful I couldn’t help him.” Roxanne smiled.
Even her powers couldn’t get rid of the darkness in the hearts of malevolent beings.
“Don’t beat yourself up about it. More importantly… there’s something I need you to tell me.” Asher said, now holding Roxanne by both hands and drawing her closer to him.
He was happy to see her, catch her scent. It was all too enthralling. He could feel his body jump up in excitement. However, there were still unanswered questions. Asher needed to know for sure…
“Why did you come back?” He asked.
Roxanne took a few seconds of silence, and then she answered him.
“Because you needed me… and I needed you.”
Asher smiled at her response, drawing even closer.
“And what made you change your mind? You didn’t want to come back before, right?” This time his voice was a soothing whisper, his eyes locked on Roxanne’s.
“I always wanted to come back. But, I didn’t have the courage to. The strength to protect you, the power to take control of my fate, I had none of it…” She whispered, drawing near Asher as well.
“But…?” Asher smiled, putting his face closer to hers.
“… I found courage and power. I met two people… and spent some time with them. By the time I was done, I found what I was looking for.” Roxanne did the same.
At this point, their faces were barely an inch apart as their noses brushed by each other.
“And what was that?” Asher asked.
Roxanne could feel his breath on her skin. It was warm, hugging her body and permeating on her tingling skin.
“You.”
At this last statement of hers, Roxanne buried her face in Asher’s lips and they kissed once more, this time more passionately than ever.
The audience gave encouraging howls as they watched the two lovebirds indulge in their passion. Dax watched them from a distance, a little jealous by their display of romance. However, this feeling only lasted for a second as Rita suddenly appeared behind him.
“Hey, Mr. Lord Dax.” She called, tapping him on the back.
Dax smiled, turning to meet Rita’s seductive gaze. As soon as he did this, her lips met his and the two both enjoyed the kiss they shared.
Cheers grew wider, and as though under a spell, everyone forgot the death of Larry that had just taken place and enjoyed the shouts. Those who had mates present enjoyed their company, kissing and hugging each other. Those who didn’t could only watch from a distance. Even Damien didn’t waste any time in spotting Melissa and roughly groped her as they exchanged passionate kisses. Linda folded her arms and pouted, removing her slightly jealous gaze from her daughter.
Damien and Melissa kept kissing, not pausing and increasing the tempo. Their bodies craved even more of each other. The two couldn’t wait and ventured into Damien’s house to do what lovers did when alone in their room.
Needless to say, the atmosphere was lit ablaze with passion. Even as Asher kept kissing Roxanne, his mind had not forgotten the remaining traitors that sided with Larry. He would take care of them later. His senses still had them in range, and it wasn’t like they could escape anywhere.
As much as he would like to dispense justice, that had to wait. Because, at the moment… only one thing needed his attention.
And that was Roxanne!
“Ah, such youthful exuberance. It takes me back…” A cheerful feminine voice spoke out, watching from a distance.
A smile formed on her face as she gave a relieved look. It was Katrina.
“Well, you’re certainly right about that. Those young fellas seem to be enjoying themselves down there.” John spoke with a grin on his face as well.
Apparently, both of Asher’s parents were together, watching everything play out.
“It looks like you were worried for nothing, after all. Everything played out well.” He added.
Katrina nodded. She was happy about that fact. She had sought for John’s assistance as a last resort, but thanks to Asher’s smart way of handling things, and Roxanne’s sudden appearance, the matter was resolved.
“Are you sure that was the only reason you came looking for me, though. Maybe you missed me, Katrina.” John smiled slyly.
This caused her to burst out in laughter, same with John. They both laughed to their heart’s content.
“In your dreams. It appears you haven’t changed at all.” Katrina smiled, still chuckling underneath her breath.
“Well, when you’re here, those old habits resurface. I can’t help it.” John gave a snappy comeback.
Katrina laughed even more. John was certainly a mood bringer.
“So, are you going to go down to congratulate them?” John asked with curiosity.
Katrina shrugged, standing from the hill where she sat.
“Na. I’ll pass. It’s time I continued my travels. You?” She asked John.
John laughed slightly
“Oh, come on. You know I’m not supposed to leave my humble abode and visit the Pack while our kid is around.” He said, referring to the little rift that existed between him and Asher.
“Have you grown senile? Asher is no longer Alpha, is he?” Katrina asked, raising a brow.
Their son now had no power to order John around. Besides…
“I doubt you and him will remain at odds for very long.”
Upon hearing this, John gave his former partner a curious look.
“How are you so sure? A Vision?” He asked.
Knowing Katrina, he was well aware of her capabilities. If she was confident, she must have seen it happen.
“Na… just call it intuition.” She replied.
Katrina began to walk away, leaving John behind her. He watched as she slowly left, giving a sad smile as he recollected memories of their time together in the past. Suddenly, she stopped moving and looked back at him.
He was stunned to say the least.
“The least you could do is escort me beyond these woods, you know?”
Giving a mock angry look, Katrina slowly changed her expression into a smile. Millions of thoughts ran down John’s mind. However, one thing rang true.
‘I have a chance!’
Whether that was true or not, there was no way he could confirm it since John couldn’t read minds. However, he wasn’t going to do nothing either.
“Whatever… I suppose I’ll just walk you out of the woods…” John feigned disinterest as he walked to catch up to Katrina.
Katrina smiled and waited for him to reach her side before they both set out together. Perhaps John had forgotten since it had been a while they were together, but his pretences were all for naught. After all, she could read his mind.
