Roxanne looked into the endless stream of time. She saw countless events unfold before her eyes and the limitless possibilities of the future. However… she wasn’t satisfied.
“No, not this one…”
“If only this was like that…”
“No, that’s terrible. It can’t end like this…”
In the Ether Realm, a world outside the bounds of conventional time, Roxanne spent an immeasurable amount of time searching for the perfect ending. Yet, she didn’t find a single one.
“They’re all flawed, one way or the other…” She mumbled.
Was there really no way she could have it all? Did she have to sacrifice one thing for the other, or lose both? She had thought gazing into what lay ahead would give her closure, but it only served as a source of grief.
“There’s no perfect ending… no happily ever after…”
Lara and Kyron, who had kept silent the whole time simply watched her. They had both decided not to interfere with Roxanne until she found her answer. This was her journey after all.
Then, as Roxanne succumbed more to the impossibility of the situation, a spark surged in her head as she remembered Lara’s words.
“I… can make my own…” She whispered.
Lara and Kyron smiled broadly upon hearing her say this. After so long had passed, Roxanne had finally gotten it, the solution she was looking for.
“I can create my own future, I can forge my own fate… with Luna’s Wish, anything is possible, right?” She said, excitedly, turning to the two Deities who stood beside her.
“That’s right, Roxanne. After seeing so many possibilities, and diving into so many outcomes, do you finally realize what it is that you want?” Lara asked.
Roxanne nodded.
“Very well then, it will take an eternity, but that doesn’t matter. We will teach you… how to control your newfound powers and take control of your destiny.” Kyron added.
And so, the three exited the ripples of time and once again returned to the plains. Now in the vast expanse of land, covered in small grasses and illuminated by the full glow of the beautiful moon, Lara the moon goddess and Kyron the Origin Wolf both stared at Roxanne and smiled.
“Now then, let us begin!”
“A-ahhh…. Haaa…” Roxanne suddenly gasped, returning to consciousness from her comatose state.
She looked around her, briefly not recognizing where she was, until memories of her last moments on Earth flashed back.
“This is… the women’s restroom…?!” She muttered.
Roxanne looked at her phone, seeing that not a single minute had passed since she had fallen unconscious. She truly went to a place beyond the bounds of time. After all, even Roxanne had no idea how long she spent there.
However, the surge she felt within her, the inner tranquility she had… they were proof of her training. She was now entirely one with her inner wolf, no longer in denial. And, for the first time in a long time, Roxanne was sure of exactly what to do.
She flung the toilet’s door open and left the restroom, heading for Daniel’s location. Upon drawing closer, he spotted her, giving a relieved smile.
“I was worried about you for a second, you okay?” Daniel asked.
Roxanne smiled warmly at him, displaying a bit if compassion in her eyes. After seeing through various possibilities, she knew already… that Daniel had feelings for her. She also knew that in some events where she didn’t end up with Asher, she ended up with him, though eventually things turned sour.
‘He’s not my mate, after all…’ Roxane thought to herself.
“I’m fine. I just had to figure some things out…” Roxanne responded.
“A-ah, I see. Whew, thought you disappeared on me.” Daniel joked.
However, instead of laughing to his joke, Roxanne looked at him sternly.
“Daniel, do you trust me?”
Her sudden question stunned Daniel for a second. Why would she be asking something like this out of the blue. However, the look in her eyes showed resolve, and that she wasn’t kidding around. For someone like Roxanne, who didn’t like showing her true intentions to finally open up, Daniel had a feeling that he needed to respond in like manner.
“I do. What’s the matter, Roxanne?” He asked, already getting a premonition of what would happen.
“Then, I have to leave now…” She stated.
The bluntness and suddenness of the whole thing shocked Daniel. He had been sensing Roxanne’s uncertainty, and even partly blamed himself for being to forward with her. However, he didn’t expect her to say it so outright, especially when it was about two hours before they started entering the plane.
“C-can I ask why?” Daniel responded, refusing to lose his composure.
Roxanne was still standing before him, while he sat. She gave a slight smile.
“There’s something I need to do.”
Daniel already knew that. He was more curious about the thing itself. However, knowing Roxanne, a woman of mysteries, she wasn’t going to tell him jack.
‘This sucks, but… I can’t force her, can I? This is the end of the trip…’ Daniel sighed internally.
He had truly messed up.
“Then, I suppose I have to cancel the flight. It’s fine if I-” Daniel mumbled, picking his phone to begin the process.
“There’s no need for that.” Roxanne suddenly interrupted.
Daniel was now more confused, than he was surprised. She wanted to leave, yet she didn’t want to cancel the flight. What was she talking about.
“What I intend on doing… it won’t take very long. I’ll be back before the plane takes flight.”
Daniel was nearly dumbfounded. He didn’t know what to think. They had a little over two hours before the plane left. The journey from the airport back to Roxanne’s hotel was at least 30 minutes. Taking traffic into account, it would definitely be more. If one calculated the journey back and forth, it would take over an hour. Plus, whatever Roxanne wanted to do seemed important, and it was probably family related.
Would she really make it on time? No, the question on Daniel’s mind was more serious…
‘Will she even come back?’
“I know what you’re thinking, but don’t worry.” Roxanne snapped the man out of his thoughts.
Daniel looked up at Roxanne, seeing a charming smile and eyes brimming with confidence.
“I’ll be back… definitely!”
Upon hearing her reassuring words, Daniel didn’t know why, but he felt at peace with it. He stood from where he sat and moved closer to where she stood. Placing his phone back in his pocket, Daniel smiled at Roxanne and nodded.
“Okay then, I trust you.”
Roxanne smiled, pleased by Daniel’s choice, though she probably already knew that would be the outcome. Hardly anything surprised her anymore.
“Alright then. I’ll be back soon.”
Roxanne sped across the hallway, in normal speed though, appearing to be an excited lady in a hurry.
“I’ll be waiting for you.” Daniel smiled, watching as she ran.
“U-uh, sir… do you not want me to drive her?” Paul suddenly broke into Daniel’s thoughts.
The moment he heard this, Daniel’s mouth flung wide open as his jaw dropped.
“Oh shit! That’s true. How will she return?!” He exclaimed.
Even with Paul’s driving expertise and the speed of the car, it took about thirty minutes from Roxanne’s hotel to this spot. If she went on her own, Daniel couldn’t even imagine how long it would take.
However, to his surprise, a sudden feeling of calmness enveloped him. A warm assurance in his heart that everything would work out.
“No, Paul. Leave her be…” He said, smiling.
He didn’t know why, but he would trust Roxanne after all.
“She’ll be back soon.”
