“I have… the Luna’s Wish?” Roxanne muttered.
“Yes. Just like I did. Using it, I was able to fulfil my desire and become one with my love for a limited period.” Lara revealed.
This seemed too unreal, almost like a fairy tale. If she could really alter whatever she wanted as she willed, then she would truly be invincible. Roxanne did t want to believe something so absurd, but she recollected using it to revive her grandmother and entirely heal Rita. Could it truly be…?
“No, hold on… if you had it, then why couldn’t you extend the period you could spend with Kyron?” Roxanne suddenly mentioned.
There were many holes on the story, after all.
“You mentioned wanting to spend more time, but it was limited. If you had the power to change things why didn’t you wish for that? Why did Kyron die? Why did you die and your children get separated? It makes no sense.”
Lara and Kyron smiled at each other, impressed that Roxanne questioned it.
“Roxanne, it’s true that I possessed this power. However, I was unable to use it by will. Back then, such supernatural phenomena was unheard of, so I didn’t know how to utilize or control it. My ability to shapeshift to a wolf was only limited die to my lack of control over my own power. The death of Kyron, my children’s separation, as well as my death were all as a result of my incompetence.” Lara stated
Though she mentioned such sad things, she didn’t appear sad or regretful. Roxanne could tell that this woman had made peace with her past.
“However, at the moment of my death, I made another wish… a second life with myself and Kyron. That single wish was able to transfer my soul and his across to the Ether Realm, creating our own domain where we have spent an eternity together. I suppose, in a way, this is our happily ever after.”
Both Lara and Kyron laughed at this, nudging each other. Roxanne felt a wave of earth as she saw their display of cute romance in front of her.
“So, you’re saying you made all this with your wish?” Roxanne beamed.
“That’s not all, from this space, Kyron and I have been aiding our descendants.” Lara smiled.
“My werewolf abilities and form were passed down to those linked by us, giving them the ability to shift into wolves. They possess the fine qualities of my kind, no, even more.” Kyron stated.
“As for the Arts, I created six and passed then down to those most befitting of their power. I had to be careful in their distribution, though. After all, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Lara added.
Roxanne was amazed by all that she was hearing. Everything was much more vast and complex than she thought it was.
“So, is that why I appeared here too? Because of your wish?” Roxanne asked.
Lara shook her head.
“No, it’s not because of mine… but because of yours.”
This stunned Roxanne. She was certain she never wished for any of this.
“In your disturbed and conflicting state, you sought rest and comfort, as well as a way to resolve everything. Your wish resonated with mine, and called for me. Using that chance, I was able to bring you here.” Lara explained.
“A-ah, I see…” Roxanne muttered.
For her desire of closure to be answered in the most bizarre way, Roxanne certainly wasn’t expecting this.
“This is all for the best, though.” Kyron stated.
“Yes. After all, you’ve been gifted with something that has not surfaced for thousands of years. The power to not only change your fate, but that of others. Unlike me, who had no clue on what to do, had no guidance, and simply wasted the power within me, your case is different.” Lara smiled drawing closer to Roxanne.
She couldn’t explain it, but the young girl felt waves of excitement coming from within her.
“Rejoice, Roxanne. For we are going to give you something I never had in the past… the opportunity to fully control your Art.” Lara declared.
Both her and Kyron were now closer to Roxanne, holding her right and left shoulder respectively.
“Our guidance!” Their voices rang in unison.
Roxanne as excited. This was something superbly crazy!
“W-wow, amazing!” She beamed, forgetting the catastrophe she had seen earlier, and the fears she had.
However, the two ancestors before her hadn’t.
“But first, we must address one other issue.”
Hearing Lara’s words, Roxanne grew curious again.
“It is the second reason you were brought here, the reason your heart was so conflicted in the first place.” Kyron added.
Roxanne searched deep within herself, and suddenly the memory surged forth.
“A-Asher! The Pack… Katrina said… oh shit!” Roxanne let out.
“Language.” Both Kyron and Lara said in unison, showing disapproval instantly.
For a second, Roxanne felt like her overbearing parents just nagged her, shrinking back in intimidation.
“Y-yes, got it!” She squeaked.
Despite their easygoing demeanor, they were still deities.
“Still, you are right. The cause of your internal conflict is all tied to Asher. He is your mate, isn’t he?”
Upon hearing this, Roxanne stiffened up. She felt a little uncomfortable with the way things were going.
“What does that have to do with learning Luna’s Wish, though?” Roxanne asked.
Lara smiled, sensing her unease.
“It has everything to do with it. You won’t be able to learn how to control your powers if you don’t have a stable heart first. Conflicting interests, clashing desires, wavering intentions… those are all stemming from a weak will. As long as the will is weak, you won’t be able to make it strong enough to project Luna’s Wish.” Lara explained
Roxanne couldn’t say a single word in her defense. She was right.
“And let’s not forget the second criteria. It is for the sake of love. You love Asher, don’t you? If you’re not willing to confront it, you won’t be able to achieve mastery over yours as well.” Kyron added.
“I get it already… so, how do you suppose I deal with this? I don’t… I don’t know what I’m meant to do.” Roxanne said, slightly drowning in her weakness.
Lara and Kyron smiled, seeming to have the perfect solution to the problem. They knew in their hearts that they couldn’t influence Roxanne’s decision just by telling it to her. No, for it to be her choice, then it had to be made by her.
“Your problem stems from the uncertainties you face. You’re caught in between many realities that you can’t decided which to accept. You don’t know the choice which would be the best, so you suffer in your resolve.” Kyron stated.
Roxanne was well aware of that, but what could be done? In the end, she couldn’t-
“What if… we told you that you could see it all?” Lara suddenly asked.
“E-eh?” Roxanne responded in surprise.
What was she hearing?
“That’s right, Roxanne. You know this is a place beyond the bounds of space and time, no? It’s t Ether Realm, a world above the normal. As a result, we are able to watch the affairs of the world. Just as people often feel that their ancestors watch over them, or heaven looks out for them, this case is similar” Lara added.
“You mean…?!” Roxanne struggled to believe what she was just hearing.
“Yes. What if we showed you all the possible outcomes of the future? The consequences of the actions or inactions you take. The endless realities that await your as well as Asher… everything that will happen from now. Roxanne, do you want to see them?”
If she gained access to everything, Roxanne would finally be able to find her answer in one of them.
This was the perfect chance!
“Please do!” She responded.
Just like that, the stream of time opened, and Roxanne peered into the events of the world… everything came rushing to her, and she allowed herself to see them all, the endless possibilities of everything!
