“… Die!” Luther gleamed with delight evident in his eyes.
As he pointed his gun at the powerless woman’s head, ready to shoot, Melissa recollected what had happened a few moments earlier.
“Are you worried about Roxanne?” Linda’s voice echoed through the room, snapping Melissa back to reality.
She couldn’t explain why, but for some reason she kept thinking about her daughter, even more so than usual.
“Y-Yeah. I just hope she’s okay…” She mumbled, still distracted by her worried mind.
“Oh, she will be. After all, she takes after us, doesn’t she?” Linda smiled.
This gave Melissa some form of reassurance, making her nod her head in agreement.
“You’re right, mom. I just wish we could have spent Christmas or New Year together… We haven’t heard from her since that time at the Rockwood Pack.” She spoke hesitantly.
No one had informed them about Roxanne’s escape from the Pack, or the scandal with Asher. It was according to his order that they not know any of it.
After all, he had made a promise to Roxanne’s mother Melissa, and his pride wouldn’t allow him fail. If she was to hear about the incident… Not only his pride, but the honor behind his words would be severely damaged.
He couldn’t have that!
Even if they were not aware of what was happening, the two older women knew something was off. Truly, even Linda felt a little bit uneasy. However, she decided to trust her daughter’s judgement and her granddaughter’s destiny.
“Fate is a funny thing… let’s just watch how it plays out”
Melissa chuckled a little. She couldn’t agree more. After all, no matter how one tried to deny it, destiny would always prevail in the end. If it didn’t, then only misfortune followed.
And Melissa definitely didn’t wish misfortune for her daughter.
Suddenly, the both of them heard a hissing sound from outside the house. The hissing sound kept getting louder as it approached the cottage at a rapid rate.
“W-what’s that?” Melissa mumbled.
Linda, having much sharper senses compared to her daughter instantly realized what was approaching.
“Melissa, run!” Linda quickly yelled.
Before either of them could completely retreat from the house, multiple bombs crashed through their windows, exploding as they landed.
However, instead of causing loud explosions, gas filled the air instead. More grenades were launched and in no time at all… the vapor had spread everywhere.
“Stay on your toes, everyone! We’ve got then cornered now, but … tread cautiously!” Luther commanded the group of nearly twenty Hunters.
They slowly advanced to the cottage, each wielding their arms rightly.
>FWOOOOSHH!<
Linda leaped out of the gas in her half transformed state, instantly launching herself toward one of the Hunters surrounding the house
"Grrrr" She growled, tearing apart his flesh in an instant.
Despite her old age, she was faster than they could react as she pounced on the first, second, third, and fourth Hunter, tearing them apart in no time.
"F-fire!!!" Luther shouted, and immediately the remaining Hunters launched their bullets at Linda.
As soon as she tried to evade them, she felt an intense shock within her, causing her body to get paralyzed for a moment.
The bullets landed on her, as multiple barrage hit her simultaneously, causing her body to flail about in reaction to the hits.
"Arrrghhh!" She yelled in pain as she fell on the snowy ground beneath her, staining the white color with her blood.
"Shit! Who was that crazy woman!" Luther said, shocked by how their numbers had been reduced to fourteen.
Giving a signal to two of the Hunters, he ordered them to check pale body of the old woman who powerlessly squirmed in the snow.
They moved closer, pointing their guns at her head
As soon as they drew within range, Linda bounced back up, shocking everyone present.
Even though wolfsbane coursed through her, and she was supposed to be in more pain than she could handle, she dug her claws deep into the chest of the two Hunters who were closest to her.
They died instantly die to the holes she made through them.
However, before she could proceed with another strike, the remaining twelve shot her more rounds of bullets, causing her to crash back in the snow.
Her strength was spent, and too much wolfsbane had entered her system.
Melissa coughed as she weakly crawled out of the house. Being the slower one of the, she wasn't able to react on time, taking the brunt of the poison.
Unlike her mother, she had not built a resistance to wolfsbane, making her unimaginably weak.
Her body throbbed as she poured all her strength to move. Raising her head a little, she saw Linda drowned in a pool of blood. From her distance, she could hear the slowing heart rate of her mother and cried in shock.
"SHUT UP!" Luther yelled, shooting Melissa a few times.
"Gahhhh!" She let out in pain.
The sting of the bullets, coupled with the sensation of losing blood as her wounds failed to close, made Melissa's head ring loudly. She couldn't even gather enough strength to fight back.
"Not so tough now, uh? Hehe" Luther grinned, moving closer to the women, same with his henchmen.
Melissa's high perception allowed to monitor her mother's heartbeat which was getting weaker by the moment. Any moment and she would-
"Moooommm!!!" Melissa yelled.
>KPA!!!<
The sound of gunshots echoed through as another bullet was drilled into Linda, causing the wounded old lady to cease all activities of life
"N-no…" Melissa sobbed, realizing that there was no longer any sound to be heard.
"Ah, finally one of you is dead!" He said in relief.
"Time for you to join her… Abominable beast.
Melissa looked around and saw familiar faces. Her boss, her colleagues, and a few people she had bumped into maybe once or twice.
Her eyes bulged as she realized these were Hunters, driving her info so many questions… And the one question she finally spouted out
Why were they doing this?!
"That's enough!" A voice suddenly called out, interrupting the act Luther was about to perform.
The Hunters all turned in the direction of the voice appearing from within the woods.
Yet another older woman appeared. She had a deep scowl on her face as she glared at the hunters. Her eyes glowed golden, indicating she was also a Werewolf.
"S-she's also a monster! Shoot her down!" Luther commanded.
The Hunters raised their arms to fire. However… The woman was faster.
"SHUT UP, AND FREEZE!" She uttered in a deep ominous and tone.
Instantly, the Hunters had their bodies paralyzed, unable to move and incapable of speech.
The only thing they could do was express shock and dread with their bulging eyes.
"Trash like you… should just die!"
The strange woman, also known as Katrina, cracked her fingers a little, and a golden aura formed around it.
"Now then… I suppose it's my turn to say it…" She muttered, preparing to make her move.
"…die!"
