“My name is Larry… It’s a pleasure to meet you all, Hunters of Oregon”
While the Hunters stared unbelievably at the young man, Larry looked at them with amusement.
“Would you all just take it easy? This is why I don’t like you a lot… So serious.” He said with a slight shrug.
Taking light steps, he slowly advanced in their midst.
“He-Hey! Don’t take another step!” Luther muttered in a flustered tone, flexing his pistol closer to Larry’s face.
Larry stopped and looked at Luther, piercing his gaze by staring casually at the grown man.
“Or what?”
Unnerved by Larry’s mocking gaze, Luther’s lips trembled a little, locking eyes with the glowing green eyes of the beast he hated.
“That’s enough!” Donald’s authoritative voice echoed throughout the room.
Larry smiled as he heard this, turning to see the leader of the group.
“What do you want, beast?” Donald asked with a serious glare.
Larry sighed.
“I expected you to be severely hateful toward the werewolves and all, but still… Hearing those words still get on my nerves. I mean, how different are we from each other?” Larry responded.
“How dare you? We’re nothing like your filthy race!” James found the courage to speak out after hearing the abominable words of Larry.
“Yeah, yeah. Whatever. I don’t care.” Larry shrugged nonchalantly.
“Who are you? How did you find this place?” Donald asked with narrowed brows.
“You already know who I am, I’m a werewolf. And I believe I also introduced myself.” Larry replied.
“As for how I found this place, it wasn’t so hard. After all, I do have heightened senses.”
“That’s impossible! This office is built with Sage and smeared with Wolfsbane. You shouldn’t be able to use your senses from outside.” Donald replied.
His hands were still on the trigger and he used every ounce of his self control to restrain from killing off the beast before him.
“The prey is right in front of me, but… Relax Donald… Let’s find out what he knows first!”
Larry smiled as he read the mind of the Hunter before him.
“Humans and their minds… So predictable” Larry thought to himself.
He wasn’t going to let things go their way though.
“Getting in was the easy part. Apparently, your receptionist was ordered to let anyone looking for you access the top floor, no questions asked. I assume it was because of this meeting.” Larry began.
The men in the room were flustered, and Donald clenched his teeth, regretting not giving his receptionist more details.
“As for how I found your secret office, it wasn’t hard. Like I said, I used my heightened senses to-”
“Lies! There’s no way you could bypass the-” Donald interrupted Larry’s explanation.
“Oh, I didn’t. I tried using my senses to find your location, sensing everything around me. But, there was one place I couldn’t get a good read on… Using that, I arrived here. It’s a simple trick really.”
“Y-You mean… You actually back traced the interference and that was what led you to find us… You…” Donald said in frustration.
He didn’t expect a werewolf to be so smart. Just who was this young man?
“At least he’s answering questions. I can still get more Intel from him!” Donald thought to himself.
“What were you looking for here to begin with? How did you know of this place?” He asked.
Larry suppressed the laughter about to burst forth within him. Everything was so predictable that he nearly wanted to scream as a result of how easy the Hunters were.
“It wasn’t hard. All I had to do was track down the one person we have in common. You should know her very well, after all her scent lingers in nearly every area of this Gym. Does the name Roxanne ring a bell?”
The Hunters in the room made sounds of shock by the sound of the young werewolf’s name. Their eyes widened and they became even more wary of Larry, wondering exactly how much he knew about everything.
“From your expression, I guess you know who I’m talking about. You must also know of her identity as a Werewolf. Good, this makes things easier.” Larry said.
“What do you know about her?” Donald asked, glaring at Larry apprehensively.
“Is this man an idiot? I suppose there’s no point in asking myself that. They’re all misguided zealots who are too consumed by their distorted beliefs to have any common sense” Larry thought to himself.
“At least they have one use… They make the perfect pawns for my plans”
Donald and the others felt at a stalemate. They were obtaining information from the werewolf, who was being strangely cooperative, yet they couldn’t shake off the feeling of uneasiness they had.
“Perhaps it’s time I told you already… Your previous leader launched an attack on the werewolves of my pack some days back. He caused quite the level of chaos in the village.” Larry revealed.
“Oh? Is that what this is about? You’re here for revenge?” Donald said with a smirk.
“Pfft, no way. Something as petty as that isn’t even worth considering. Besides, why would I want such a thing when I was the one who led your leader and his Hunters to the pack in the first place” Larry replied.
The eyes of the Hunters widened.
“N-No way!” They exclaimed.
“Yes way. Your leader followed my instructions well and the information I gave him was accurate. He would have been able to wreak more havoc and maybe even make it out alive if not for the interference of the Rockwood Alpha, and Wolf King. In any case, he lost. Every single one of your brethren were killed.” Larry said with rolled eyes.
Even now he was a bit annoyed by Asher’s interference in his plan.
“You beasts! How dare you show your face before us after leading our Leader to his death? Do you even think you’ll make it out alive after saying all this?!” Donald said with seething rage.
“As expected. You lot are a bunch of buffoons. It won’t do me any good explaining everything to you.” Larry said.
“There are only three things you need to know. Firstly, I am not on the side of the wolves, but I’m also not on your side. Secondly, I already know the full gist of what you’re planning, and just as I expected your plan will fail miserably due to your cloudy judgements and poor strategy. Finally… Should you choose to work together with me, I’ll help you in your quest to annihilate your obsessive desire to wipe out the Werewolves in Oregon.” Larry offered, raising his hand a bit forward to show his sincere offer.
“Lies! L-Like we’ll ever believe a vile creature like you!” James yelled, along with Luther who kept glaring at Larry.
Murmurs and eyes of distrust filled the room as the Hunters all grumbled uneasily.
“These guys are annoying. But…” Larry thought to himself.
“That’s enough everyone… You, Larry, was it? What you’re saying… Do you mean it?” Donald asked with a serious look.
Larry smiled at himself.
Of course, he knew Donald was still in high distrust of him, and at any given opportunity he would not hesitate to kill him off. Still, the new leader of the Hunters had taken the bait… Just like the last one.
“… Victory is mine!” Nathan muttered to himself.
“Of course. Now that it seems like I have captured your attention…” He said, meaningfully looking at Donald.
With a tired sigh, Donald dropped his weapon, signaling the others to follow suit. They hesitantly followed their leader’s lead and lowered their arms as well.
Pleased by the cooperation exhibited by the Hunters, Nathan decided to proceed with the conversation.
“… Let’s get down to business” He grinned.
