#2 Chapter 7

Book:Christmas With the Wolves Published:2024-5-1

“It’s a good thing you are all here… Thank you for all gathering on such short notice…” Donald’s clear, yet bold tome sounded, drawing the attention of all the men who sat on the sofas in his private office.
“The men who stood before him were no less than twenty, all having brazen looks and a fierce expression in their eyes.
Wearing different outfits indicating their position in different walks of life, these men all converged in the office of a simple Gym owner.
Clearly Donald wasn’t that simple.
“Could you make this quick? I have a company dinner to attend soon…” One of the less satisfied audiences groaned.
This was followed by dissatisfied grunts and unpleasant sounds.
Donald watched the grown up men before him split into two factions. One we’re grumbling, impatient buffoons who wanted to quickly finish things up, while the others were truly curious about his summon and the hunt at hand.
“I apologize for keeping you all here… If you truly have somewhere else to be, then go there… Right now” Donald said, quickly changing his tone to a colder and more devastating one as he glared at everyone in the room.
Even the lousy businessman kept his mouth shut and decided to listen instead of running his mouth.
“That’s much better. I refuse to believe anyone came here without being ready to forego any other activities. After all, this is our primary occupation, or did you all forget?” Donald began to speak.
“Our fathers and the ones before them carried this legacy, passing it down to us. Everything we have, including our jobs, are only means for the execution of our one true purpose… The extermination of every single vermin known as the Werewolves from this world.”
The group’s face tightened upon hearing the word of the barbaric demons known to them as monsters from hell. Their whole life, they had been raised to resent the wolves, and were groomed to take on the mantle of ‘Hunters’. Many years have passed since then, and yet , even in their various businesses and jobs, they had to fulfill their obligations to the world.
“We are Hunters! We hunt, we kill, we purge… That is our sole duty! Did you all forget?!” Donald asked, raising his voice.
At this point, everyone had fallen silent. They could not speak in the face of the passionate man before them. He was right, and they knew it within themselves.
“I’m sorry… The businessman finally muttered, looking ashamed of his earlier statement.
Even in his fine tuxedo and lovely ride parked outside the gym, he was no better than anyone in the room. He was one and the same… A Hunter!
Donald once again looked upon the faces of everyone in the room. He smiled in satisfaction, finally seeing their spirits rise for the war to come.
“Now then, it’s time to proceed!” He grinned.
Without wasting much time, Donald passionately told them the true goal of their meeting.
“Our brothers have still not been recovered after the last Raid. It is safe to assume they have all been slaughtered by those savage beasts. Our leftover numbers are quite few, but that does not matter.
Since there is nothing left to disprove Alfred’s death on the frontline, I will take charge of the Hunters as the new leader. Are there any opposed?” Donald asked, glaring at everyone.
No one dared raise their hands. After all… They all knew the man who was addressing them.
“Perfect. Now then, let me continue” He smiled brightly, satisfied by their response, or lack thereof.
“I have become privy to information concerning the Werewolves. Like I said through Luther, they have made their way among us. A member of my Gym, and one whom I personally thought to be like a daughter… She is one of them!” Donald said with gritted teeth.
>GASP< The group could not believe Donald's words. If he, the most skilled among them, had been fooled by the Werewolf hidden among the humans, even to the point of seeing her as his own child… How much more everyone else. "No one is safe. Which is why… We have to take action now, before it's too late!" The men nodded their heads in agreement, all flustered by Donald's statement. One of the men raised their hands and looked nervous as he did so. "Yes, you can speak James." Donald said. "W-Who is this girl you speak of… Luther mentioned that she's friends with my daughter… I-I don't want anything to happen to my girl!" James said with a shivering tone. "It's fine, James. Everyone. She won't be hurting anyone of our families. We'll take care of her, as well as the others of her kind. However, before I proceed, it's only right that I mention the name of our primary target, and the one who will be the key to the determination of our lifelong enemies. Her name… Is Roxanne!" Donald said with a wry smile. "N-No way! That Roxanne?" James said with bulging eyes. He knew that name very well. His daughter, Betty, never stopped talking about her best friend in High School. To think it was the closest one to his daughter that was the evil spawn of the devil. "Who is she?" The others asked, not too familiar with the girl's name. "She's the daughter of Melissa, the clerk at Holmark's… Ring a bell?" Donald said, glancing toward the businessman among them. "W-What?! Melissa! S-She's one too?! Unbelievable!" He yelled out. He could not believe his employee, one with whom he had shared many hours with, was a beast as well. Nearly everyone in the room knew of Melissa, even if they didn't recognize Roxanne. "You may have heard of her, or even seen the girl in action in the underground wrestling ring… The Black Cat…" "N-No way-" One of the men seating spoke. There was no way he wouldn't know the name of his favorite wrestler. She couldn't be… "Yes, her true identity is Roxanne, a werewolf in disguise." Donald said. This shattered the hearts of many. Finally, everyone in the room could relate with Donald's frustration. They all had vivid images of who the enemy was. "I understand your pain. I also was deceived. I do not know how she was able to hide her identity for so long, but I genuinely loved her at the time. I also considered… Introducing her to the 'Hunters', hoping she would share our values. How foolish that was… Roxanne, The Black Cat, even her mother Melissa, and her grandmother… They are all Werewolves!" Donald declared. Everyone made a thunderous cheer, rising from their seats in support of Donald's words. "Oh? Aren't you all very excited…" A low, yet deep voice sharply interrupted their loud shout. The group of men were shocked by the stranger in their midst, quickly darting their eyes to the young individual who surprisingly made it to their midst. Without hesitating, Donald reached for the gun within his stock of weapons and pointed it at the stranger. The others in the room brought out one form of weapon or the other, ranging from a knife, to a club… To even a gun. Surrounded by the overwhelming force of violence, the stranger didn't appear fazed by their threats, instead, a look of amusement covered his face. "Who the hell are you?!" Donald asked, ready to fire at the young man if he made even the slightest move. "Hehe, you guys never change… Always so stupid, even in your old age…" He mumbled. "What did you say-" Donald let out in rage, drawing his fingers toward the trigger. "I wouldn't do that if I were you… After all, it would be a wrong way to repay your benefactor." "What the hell are you spouting?" "Donald, let's at least knock him out first… We can question him later!" Luther said, pointing his gun directly toward the intruder's head. "Like I said, that's a bad idea. You really should-" "Be quiet!" Luther shouted, silencing the stranger. Suddenly, the easygoing expression of the stranger changed into a form of irritation as he glared at the flustered man. "Hey… What did you just say?" He asked, glaring menacingly at Luther. "T-Those eyes… He's a beast too!" Luther yelled. "F-Fire at him!" Before they pulled the trigger, the man brought out a device from within the jacket he wore. It was a phone, containing the video footage of everything that was transpiring in the room. "I'm wearing a spycam, and it's being broadcast live to this phone as well as another device far from here… If you do not want the contents of this incident to be leaked, and your lives essentially ruined, you'll do well to listen." The young man said with a serious smile. Upon seeing this, the excited group backed away from the intruder, all nervous by the evidence he had of their group and the weapons they had. More importantly… How much of their conversation he had already caught on to. The situation had swayed from their favor in an instant, thanks to the mysterious young man in front of them. He didn't appear to me more than 20 year old, and had a lanky, thin structure. The same thing went on in the minds of every Hunter present. "Who the hell is this guy?" Upon seeing their confused looks, the young man couldn't help himself, and so he let out a snicker. The expressions of the Hunters amused him to that point. "My name is Larry… It's a pleasure to meet you all, Hunters of Oregon" He grinned.
