Chapter 50: I’m not Dead

Book:Tell me you love me Published:2024-5-28

Olivia did not expect that the first acquaintance she met after she returned to the country would be Lance. Lance had lent her a helping hand many years ago. She wore a smile and looked at Lance’s incredulous look. “Did you get scared by me?”
Lance’s back broke out in cold sweats. How would a person who had been dead for long possibly appear there? Could it be she was a ghost? Yet she did not look like a ghost with her bland smile…He then asked with caution, “You’re Olivia?”
Olivia smiled. “Yeah, I’m not dead.” She had not smiled like that for a long while. She was already delighted just by returning to her own country and breathing the air in her hometown. Her body seemed to feel much better too. Lance only digested the fact that Olivia was not dead after a few minutes.
“Where are you going?” Olivia was ignorant of what had happened among the Foster’s. She deemed that Lance was nice to her based on her past memory and since he was also one of the Foster’s, her impression of him was instinctively good.
“I’m going to travel abroad.” Lance’s expression changed and his eyes suddenly gleamed as he looked at her. He asked, “Did anyone else know…that you’ve returned?” Olivia shook her head. She could not help but have some strange feeling when she thought of Lucas.
Lance’s heart was racing and a thought became clearer and clearer in his mind. That could be his last chance! He looked at her and tried hard to look composed. He said, “The reason I travel abroad this time is because of Lucas. Something’s happened to him and since no one could handle the business deal abroad, I have to go.”
After finished, he was satisfied to see the change in Olivia’s expression. As expected, that woman still cared about Lucas. Having recalled what Lucas had said before, he could be certain that Lucas must have seen her and both of them still had feelings towards each other. A weird look flashed across his face. Was Olivia still Lucas’s weakness?
He said while pretending to be worried, “Miss Cooper, Lucas has been thinking about you. Since you’ve come back, he’ll definitely get well now! Please come with me!” As he spoke, he extended his hand and took Olivia’s luggage. Olivia’s mind was jumbled up with the fact that Lucas was sick, and before she could react, she had entered the car with Lance.
“Lucas’s resting at the outskirts, I’ll drive you there now.” As Lance drove, he examined Olivia secretly. She was playing with her hands with unease and her eyes were glazing over. It looked like she had not noticed any abnormality. Olivia only realized something was wrong when the car reached a desolate suburban district and not a single car was seen.
“Where is Lucas staying…? Why did he come to the countryside when there are so many famous hospitals in town?” She asked with hesitance and grasped her luggage. Lance smiled. “That’s because the countryside’s quiet and peaceful!” Is that so? Olivia still felt a little uncertain and she secretly memorized the route outside.
The car stopped in front of a small villa that was concealed by a forest. Olivia stood at the entrance and did not move her legs. She still felt something was wrong. Lance walked towards her while avoiding making noise. “Let’s go in. It’s been late, I suppose Lucas’s slept. I’ll wake him up.”
“No.” Olivia quickly stopped him. “Let him rest.” A patient needs to have sufficient rest. Lance nodded and invited naturally. “Let’s go in first, I’ll bring you to him.” Olivia did not reject him. She was too eager to see him. The sky was dark and Olivia followed Lance into the villa. She did not expect that what awaited her would be a nightmare.
