Lucas’s way to solve the problem from the root was ingenious and no matter how much Lance and his father wanted to argue, they could only keep their mouth shut. The money Lance got was indeed not little, and the source of the money was unspeakable. If it was exposed, not only he could not take over the company, he would also lose what he had now.
Lance glared at Lucas indignantly, yet no matter how much he expressed his hatred, Lucas did not show a single change in facial expression. Lance looked into Lucas’s eyes for a few seconds and finally surrendered. He was not his opponent. After all these years, he was never able to read his mind. That man truly did not have any weakness after Olivia died.
He looked away reluctantly and rumbled, “Fine, I’ll leave!” Since he had declared giving up, the rest of the Foster family members were no longer able to say anything no matter how much they wanted to. They could only watch Lance left with his father. Hailey let out a wry smile and was also ready to leave, yet she was secretly cursing Lance. Maybe they could leave like that free of care, yet she still need to earn a living working for Lucas.
Manfred looked at his son and clapped his hands with delight. “Nice, now we’ll see who still want to play little tricks behind our back!” Lucas ignored him yet Manfred was still feeling satisfied of him. He peeked at his expression and said, “Lucas, Olivia has died…passed away for so long, you should start considering for yourself now.”
“I’m still waiting for my grandson!” His voice became louder and he became more assertive as he spoke. “You can’t continue being like this. Mr. Zack’ youngest daughter, Camille as returned from foreign country recently. I think that kid’s quite good, you guys should meet each other when you’re free.”
Lucas frowned and his look was extremely gloomy as he stared at his excited father. “Olivia’s not dead.” Manfred clearly thought he was talking nonsense. “The Cooper’s had even organized her funeral! Olivia’s already gone, when are you gonna stop lying to yourself?” He was greatly apprehensive as he looked at his son.
Manfred was the one who forced Lucas to marry Olivia back then. Lucas did not know what to reply at once. Olivia’s existence was indeed unreal like a dream to him. She was living outside his life, and she was already gone to everyone’s eyes. Yet he still insisted to involve her in his life.
He glanced at his watch and decided not to waste his time on such a meaningless matter. He warned Manfred with a straight face once again. “Don’t you have thoughts on me? My wife would only be Olivia and if you like that Miss Zack o much, you can marry her yourself. I don’t mind having a stepmother.”
Manfred was shaking due to rage. “You disappointing son! When are you gonna stop being so stubborn! Look at your age! If you still don’t have kids, do you possibly want Lance’s kid to take over your company?” Lucas sneered. “That will never happen. My company would certainly belong to my daughter.” What daughter? Had Lucas gone nuts? Manfred’s eyes widened with mouth agape.
…
Lance and Kinsley packed their things the whole night to travel abroad. Lucas was good at holding grudges and they did not have the balls to oppose him at this moment. Kinsley went to buy airplane tickets when they reached the airport. Lance stared at the square behind him with grievance.
Did he really have to leave this city, this country now? Did his hard work all these years all go to no avail? He felt aggrieved. He clenched his fists tightly and stood there. All of a sudden, a woman’s hesitating voice was heard next to him. “Are you Lance?”
