A week later, everything returns to normal, where Nate does his business and gives all his time to his company, and Beatrice slowly tries things that might keep her busy so that she can’t remember the pain from Quiver’s death. As Beatrice is Quiver’s Luna, she replaced him as the new Alpha of the Vougch clan, which the Beta already announced to all Vougch Clan members about the new Alpha.
And because Beatrice is their new Alpha, Beatrice becomes busy settling things that Quiver did back then. She felt the hard work that Quiver gave to his clan and business. She realizes how hard it is to be an Alpha in a group where so many people believe in her ability to be their new leader.
On the other hand, Axle, the new Beta of Beatrice and Vougch Clan, received a message from the underground group that Beatrice needed to attend the meeting. Axle did knock on Beatrice’s office before he entered. Beatrice looked at Axle, who entered the room and gave him a smile.
“Madame…” Beatrice rolled her eyes after hearing Axle’s formal call to her.
“Come on. Axle. You don’t need to be so formal to me.” She said. Axle is Quiver’s stepbrother. He started to work under Beatrice after knowing what had happened to his brother.
“Sorry, I can’t stop being so formal in a superior person like you.” He said, so Beatrice laughed and rolled her eyes once again.
“I’m still your family, Axle. And also, I didn’t put you in that position just to call me ‘Madame.'” Beatrice said, so Axle smiled.
Axle really likes the personality of Beatrice as she is really down to earth. On the other hand, Beatrice was so very thankful that Axle was there to assist her in her job. She needed to figure out when or where to start without Axle.
“What’s with the envelope?” Beatrice asked as she noticed the envelope he was holding. Axel walked near her desk and put it down in front of her.
“I received this from the leader of underground org. They will gather a meeting and expect you to be there.” Axel said, so Beatrice frowned as this was the first time she had heard about that Organization.
“Underground org.? What does that mean?” Beatrice asked and looked back to Axel, sitting in the office chair now.
“My brother was their third influential member. The Underground Organization, also known as the Underground Growler group, consists of 10 Alphas from different clans; my brother is one of them. The purpose of that group is to maintain the relationship of the 10 most prominent Clan in the country and to strengthen the ties of every pack leader. “Axel explained. So Beatrice had an idea about it now.
“As a new leader of the Vougch Clan, they wanted to see you and meet you to make peace for every clan as they believed every new leader has a secret agenda hiding from them.” He said, so Beatrice laughed after hearing his words.
“What hidden agenda should I hide from them, though?” Beatrice asked and leaned in her chair.
“I will come.” She added an Axle smile. “I will let them know that I wouldn’t do such thing as what they’re thinking of.” Beatrice continued, so Axle nodded and stood up from his chair.
“So, let’s go?” Axle asked, so Beatrice frowned once again.
“What do you mean? Does the meeting happen today?” Beatrice asked. Axle shook his head.
“No, but the Organization never gives dates when they’re having a meeting. It’s better to be in their spot than to be late as they will give consequences for that.” Axle said, so Beatrice stood up from her chair and nodded.
“Okay, then let’s go.” She said and walked first to exit the room.
Meanwhile, Nate converses with Antoinette Clan’s leader while holding his drink.
“It’s good to know you came to our meeting now, Mr. Vowell.” The Ashton Alpha said, Craig.
Nate looked at Craig and smiled. “Of course, it’s so nice to be back here,” Nate said, so Craig gave him a bump before drinking his wine.
“The last meeting we had, you didn’t come. Is it related to your termination of mateship with your ex-luna?” Craig said, which made Nate offended, but he didn’t show it to them.
Craig is one of the largest Alpha in town as he holds so many businesses; he is famous because of his charisma and straightforward words. Everyone in the circle gets offended because of his stabby words, though they know this is really the nature of the Ashton clan, having a forward mouth.
“Yeah, though I’m okay now,” Nate said and smiled a little; Craig smiled at him and put his wine on the table.
“It’s good to know; it’s rare to see the most powerful Alpha in town being so heartbroken just because of a girl,” Craig said, so Nate smiled awkwardly. Antoinette Clan’s leader, Marcos, saw and felt the awkwardness in Nate, so he looked at Craig and started to change the topic.
“Have you already heard about the new leader of Vougch Clan?” Marcos asked, so he got the attention of Craig and Nate.
“Yeah, I was really shocked knowing that Quiver died,” Craig said, but Nate chose to be silent as he had an idea about the new Alpha of the Vougch Clan.
“I thought it was his brother who will inherit the throne,” Marcos said, drinking his wine again. Craig laughed after hearing what he said.
“I would like to inform you, once again, that only the real family of one pack can inherit the place of the Alpha. Axle is just a stepbrother of Quiver, so it’s automatically that he couldn’t get thrown off being the next Alpha of their clan.” Craig said and drank his wine. Marcos knows that, yet he doesn’t realize that Axle is just a stepbrother of Quiver, as Quiver always mentioned him in their conversation.
“So in that case, his wife became the Alpha of their clan?” Marcos asked.
“Of course, that’s why I loved to see who she was, as I didn’t attend their wedding,” Craig said. Nate swallowed as he was hurt by what he was hearing now. He straightened all the wine in his glass and stood up. Craig and Marcos noticed that, so they both looked and watched him.
“Where are you going, Nate?” Marcos asked. Nate looked at him.
“I will just get some air,” Nate said and turned his back on the two Alpha.
