One week later after Quiver’s death, Beatrice didn’t go outside of her room. She’s staying at her mother’s house, and she chooses to isolate herself from other people. Until now, the pain in her chest hadn’t been lost. Beatrice still can’t accept that Quiver left her and signed the divorce paper before his death. Beatrice feels alone again, even though her parents did anything they could just to make her think that she’s not alone. Beatrice couldn’t handle it as she was numb by Quiver’s death.
“Beatrice?” A voice came outside of her room. Beatrice didn’t speak and covered her body with the white sheet and closed her eyes. She felt that her room doors opened and a footstep came across her, but she still acted like she was sleeping.
“Beatrice, I know you are already awake.” Her mother said, so Beatrice opened her eyes and looked at her mother’s face.
“Good morning.” She said with her sad voice. Her mother smiled at her forcefully and took a deep breath.
“Are you not gonna go to your sister’s tombstone today? It’s her death anniversary.” Her mother said. Beatrice closed her eyes and didn’t answer her mother.
The truth is she doesn’t like to go anywhere and wanted just to be alone in her room.
“Beatrice, I knew that you–”
“I will go later., I just wanted to sleep for now.” Beatrice cut off her mother’s sentence.
Her mom looked at her, full of concern, and took a deep breath before she patted her daughter’s shoulder and left her alone.
On the other hand, Nate is busy doing his paperwork in his office; he’s back to being active in his own office again. He starts managing his company after deciding to move on from Beatrice.
Nate gives all of his time and attention to his business as he wants to fully recover his heart from being heartbroken by Beatrice. He even starts to entertain his son Eille and spoils him with toys, which makes Caliber happy. Nate slowly learns how to give attention and care to Caliber as he believes that Caliber has no fault in his relationship with Eille.
“Are you not gonna take a break?” Celestine asked. Nate didn’t turn his head to look at his mom.
“I will, later.” He said. Celestine watched her son; she knew that after so many years of being alone and isolating himself in his room, she made Nate a cold person like this.
Celestine is not mad with Beatrice. She’s just sad that Beatrice leaves her son without words. However, she understands that Beatrice was hurt at that time. Now Celestine is happy to see Nate slowly back to normal again.
“Sir, your Beta is waiting outside. Should I let him in?” Nate’s secretary suddenly enters the room. Nate looked at his secretary as he heard the word ‘Beta.’
“Yes, let him in.” He said and closed the file he was signing. A second later, Rayver entered his office.
“Mr. Nate,” Rayver called him and took a bow to show respect from his Alpha.
“Where have you been? It’s been a week since the last time I saw you.” Nate said. Rayver smile forcely to Nate.
“I’m sorry for taking so long, Mr. Nate. I just did some business matters of mine these past few months.” Rayver said. Nate smiled at him.
“It’s good to know that you’re doing well with your own business,” Nate said and signaled Rayver to sit in front of his table. Rayver followed him and watched Nate pour some wine into the wine glass.
“Is there any news you have?” Nate asked while looking at the wine pouring on the wine bottle.
Rayver took a deep breath and watched Nate until he poured the wine into the glass.
“Yes, Mr. Nate. I came here for two reasons.” Rayver said.
“First, to invite you to be my guest in my business meeting on Saturday,” Rayver said, so Nate smiled and nodded.
“Of course! It’s my pleasure to be there as your guest.” Nate said, so Rayver smiled in relief, knowing that his Alpha agreed to his invitation.
“The second one is to let you know that….” Rayver paused for a second and looked at Celestine, who was listening to the both of them.
“Let me know what?” Nate asked, so Rayver looked at Nate again and put down the wine glass he was holding.
“To let you know that… Mr. Quiver is gone.” He said, so the silence covered the whole office of Nate.
Celestine was shocked about the news, even Nate. He didn’t know about that news. The last time he saw Quiver was in the hospital, where he could talk to him personally.
“He died last week,” Rayver added.
“Oh God,” Celestine whispered. She felt despondent knowing that her son’s friend died. She didn’t expect to hear this bad news.
“How come he died? He’s still strong the last time I saw him.” Nate said and put down the wine glass he was holding.
“He died peacefully while Beatrice was sleeping,” Rayver said to Nate. He looked at Rayver as he heard Beatrice’s name.
Nate’s heart broke upon hearing the news. He couldn’t imagine that talking to Quiver last week was also the last time he would speak with him.
“How’s Beatrice? Is she okay?” Celestine asked as she was concerned with Beatrice. She knew that Beatrice was hurting at this point. Though Nate also knows that.
“I saw her in Quiver’s tombstone last week and handed her the divorce paper that Quiver signed before he died,” Rayver said, so Celestine and Nate’s forehead frowned.
“Well, that is one of my business I did, sir,” Rayver said. “Quiver told me to give it to Beatrice once he’s no longer here. That’s why I did it.” Rayver added.
“But why did he sign the divorce papers?” Celestine asked as she was also confused while Quiver did that thing.
“Because he wanted to let Beatrice go and set her free again.” Rayver simply answered the question. “He knew Beatrice would be much happier with someone she truly loves.” He added and looked at Nate, who was looking at him this time.
“We should visit him,” Nate said while his head was occupied by something. He couldn’t think straight, knowing that his best friend and the person who treated him as his brother died.
“Yes, we should really visit him today,” Celestine said and stood up from her chair.
