Nate couldn’t imagine that he would see Quiver in this kind of situation. All his life, he identifies Quiver as one of his strongest rivals when it comes to business and when it comes to Clan. Nate secretly looked up to Quiver and was proud of him for what he had right now, yet at this point, he couldn’t stand to see Quiver in his situation like this.
Rayver turns his back to go outside and guard the room first to ensure that Quiver and Nate can talk privately.
Nate took a deep breath, sat beside Quiver’s bed, and then looked again at Quiver. He didn’t know how to start and where to start. He couldn’t say anything.
“You looked shocked,” Quiver said and laughed. Nate knows that his laugh is fake.
“How are you?” Quiver asked and looked in the other direction. At this point, Quiver felt embarrassed knowing Nate saw him like this.
“I am fine,” Nate said, so Quiver nodded without looking at Nate.
“How about you?” Nate asked, so Quiver laughed and smiled.
“I am fine, too.” Quiver lied, “Still fighting and holding on.” He added and looked at Nate this time.
A moment of silence covered the both of them.
“That’s good,” Nate said and took a deep breath, Quiver looked in the other direction again.
“I heard that you talked to Beatrice already,” Quiver said out of nowhere, so Nate looked at him again.
“Yeah.” He answered, so Quiver smiled.
“How’s the talk? Did the both of you come back again?” He asked, so Nate’s forehead frowned.
“Of course not.” He said. “I just talked to her about the past and…” he stopped briefly as he remembered how he let her go.
“And let her go.” He added, so Quiver looked at him this time.
“Why?” He asked, so Nate frowned even more while looking at him.
“Because I already accepted that she won’t come back to me and choose you,” Nate answered, so Quiver laughed and looked in the other direction again.
“You shouldn’t do that,” Quiver said without removing the forced smile on his lips.
Nate just stared at him, wondering why he said those words to him.
“My life won’t take long in this world, Nate. If I leave, Beatrice will be alone again.” Quiver added, and this time, he looked at Nate, who was just listening to him.
“And she hates being alone.” He added, so a long silence covered the two of them.
“She can be with her family again if she wants to or feels alone,” Nate said, so Quiver stared at him for a second.
“I’ve waited for her for years, yet she didn’t listen to me,” Nate added.
Nate has yet to learn why Quiver saying all this stuff. “She’s his wife, so why is he acting like he will leave Beatrice to me?” Nate asked himself while looking at Quiver, who was looking outside the window.
“I also so that I can move on,” Nate said. Quiver looked at him this time, and Nate saw his eyes full of sadness.
“Remember what we used to do when we were kids?” Quiver asked, so Nate just stared at him and didn’t respond to his questions.
“We used to play wedding games where you are the groom and your teddy bear is your bride, then I am your best man,” Quiver said. So Nate suddenly remembered those memories, and they were so happy while playing that game.
They’re both innocent at that time and don’t know about the actual responsibility as a groom and as its best man.
“Did you remember when we played that game, and the twin brothers from our neighborhood came to ruin our game? They do have fake guns that time and shoot us.” Quiver said and laughed as he remembered that memory.
“Our game became so dramatic that time, you even act like you really got shot and dying that time…” Quiver suddenly stopped, and his smile slowly faded.
“Do you remember what you did and sent way back then?” Quiver asked Nate, and Nate knew the answer to his question.
The both of them were covered by the silence for a minute before Nate answered Quiver.
“I told you to take care of my wife and bury me on the hill of sunflowers,” Nate answered. A smile formed in Quiver’s lips, and nodded as Nate answered him correctly.
“That’s what I want you to do for me, Nate.” He said so. Nate was stunned for a second as he heard what he said.
“No,” Nate said and shook his head.
“I want you to take care of my wife and bury me in the hill of sunflowers,” Quiver said, so Nate got ghost bumps as he heard his requests.
“No, Quiver, stop,” Nate said, getting mad because of what Quiver wanted him to do.
“I knew that you could surpass this problem. You’re a fighter, right? You always fought bad wolves.” Nate said, so Quiver laughed
“Yet my enemies are not bad wolves now,” Quiver said. Nate was stunned again, and he knew that there was a meaning behind this conversation.
“Quiver, men. I know that you can beat your illness. Think of Beatrice. She needs you.” Nate said, trying to give Quiver strength.
“No, Nate.” Quiver objects and looks him in the eyes.
“Beatrice only needs me because she is afraid to be alone. She more than needs you, Nate, and I know that from the beginning.” Quiver said, so Nate stopped and didn’t know what to say as Quiver said those lines.
“All these years that we’ve been together, I know that she is still hurting because of what happened to your child,” Quiver said and looked in another direction as this would hurt him.
“She just acts like she loves me and is happy with me, but I know that Beatrice will truly be happy if she’s with you, Nate.” He added. Nate just listened to Quiver and couldn’t believe what he was hearing now.
“Her heart became cold and stone because she lost your child,” Quiver said and slowly looked at Nate.
“But she will become soft again once she learns that what happened back then is not your fault or not her fault. No one wants that to happen. Destiny just wanted to teach a lesson in a tough way.” Quiver said and smiled.
“But she told me that she loves you, and she’s happy with you,” Nate said, so Quiver smiled widely.
“That’s a lie.” He said.
“I wish that happened.” He added, and his tears slowly formed in his eyes, but he stopped himself to cry in front of Nate.
“Just do that favor, man. I know that the both of you really love each other.”
“Don’t say that,” Nate said, so Quiver laughed.
“I will be happy if you do me that favor. Don’t leave Beatrice alone because she’s always alone.” Quiver said, so Nate just stared at him and didn’t say any words.
