Beatrice’s eyes couldn’t take off Nate, who was standing in front of her now, his appearance had changed; he looked mature with his semi-long beard, the sadness in his eyes could be seen, and Beatrice felt his different aura.
“What… are you doing here?” She asked and looked at Rayver, who was looking down, she looked back to Nate, who was looking at her. Beatrice didn’t know why he was there. All she knew now was the pain she got from the past.
“What did the liar like you doing here?” She asked, full of pain as she looked at Nate’s eyes.
“Why is he here?” She asked Rayver, but Rayver kept silent. Beatrice wiped her tears and laughed as if she had heard some jokes from Nate.
“Are you here to tell some lies to me again?” She asked, but Nate didn’t answer her. “Well then, I just wanted to tell you I will never listen to what you say.” She said and turned her back to Nate, but Nate stepped and took her hand to stop her.
“Wait…” he said, so Beatrice stopped and removed Nate’s hand to her.
“Don’t touch me.” She said and faced Nate again. “Go back from where you belong.” She said, but Nate touched her again. This time, Beatrice felt strange electricity come from Nate’s touches.
“Can we talk, please?” Nate asked, but Beatrice just stared into his eyes. “I… I just wanted some closure.” He added that Beatrice’s emotions changed because of what he said.
“After this, I promise never to show up to you again,” Nate said, so Beatrice thought of what he said first before she slowly nodded in response.
Nate smiled and turned his back to her, Beatrice followed him as they went from one lobby where no people passed.
“What do you want?” Beatrice asked when they arrived at a semi-private part of the hospital lobby.
Nate stared at her for a second and smiled before he took a deep breath.
“I just wanted to make things clear.” He said and looked down as he remembered how Beatrice left him without saying anything.
“Did you really leave me on purpose?” He asked so Beatrice was stunned momentarily as she remembered how she had left him without saying anything.
“I just wanted to know if that is your idea,” Nate added. Beatrice stared at him for a second before nodding with pride.
“Yeah, that’s my idea,” Beatrice said while she looked at him. “I told Quiver to pull me out away from you.” She added, so Nate looked her in the eye before a sad smile formed on her lips.
“I see…” he whispered. “But why? I beg for your forgiveness, Beatrice.” He asked, the pain in Beatrice’s heart started to revive as she remembered how Nate lied to her, resulting in the miscarriage of their child.
“You are asking me why?” Beatrice asked, unbelievably, and laughed because of his question. “Are you really that numb for not knowing what I felt when you lied to me that time and hid anything from me?” Beatrice asked and laughed.
“Damn you, Nate, damn you and that Eille for hiding the truth from me.” She said, and tears formed in her eyes.
“I lost our child because of your actions. I lost my only hope that time because of you, Nate.” She said, and her tears fell in her eyes.
“I did that because I don’t want to lose you, Beatrice,” Nate said, so Beatrice laughed again.
“You don’t want to lose me? Nate, look what happened to us now. You completely lose everything.” Beatrice said and wiped her tears.
“I know, and I feel sorry for that. At the same time, I feel guilty for hiding the truth from you.” Nate said. He controlled his emotions; he wanted to hug and beg her once again, but Nate knew it wouldn’t change anything. It won’t make her back to him as Nate sees he left a massive hole in her heart.
“Can I ask one last question? Are you happy with Quiver now?” Nate asked, full of pain as he looked into her eyes, Beatrice smiled without hesitation and nodded.
“Yes, I am happy with my husband now, and I can’t afford to lose the only man who shows true happiness in me,” Beatrice said. Nate’s heart seemed broken into pieces as he heard her words.
“And I think for the very first time in my life, I made a good decision to leave you that day because I saw another light with my husband in darkness. He led me through the light and colorful moments of my life when I was with him during the years I’ve spent with him.” Beatrice said, and a smile formed as she looked at Nate.
“I see,” Nate said, looking down and wiping his tears. He swallowed first before he nodded and looked at Beatrice once again.
“Then, I think I needed to accept that you will never return to me again,” Nate said, smiling at Beatrice.
“Can I request something before I leave you here?” Nate asked. Beatrice thought of it first before she nodded in response.
“Can I, at least, give you one last hug before I leave?” Nate asked Beatrice, stunned in her place for a second, and it seemed like her heart turned into pieces as she heard his words.
“I promise, this would be the last hug,” Nate added, so Beatrice slowly nodded. Nate smiled at her and walked closer to her until their body became one when Nate hugged her one last time.
At that moment, Nate’s sadness couldn’t hide as his tears fell into his eyes like a river. He sobbed and hugged her even tighter to feel her one last time while Beatrice’s tears fell, but she didn’t know why.
“Thank you for teaching me a fundamental life lesson,” Nate said as he hugged Beatrice.
“Thank you for loving me in the past and giving me the best memories.” He added and closed his eyes.
“I will not forget you forever; you will always be in my heart forever. I love you, take care.” Nate whispered and slowly removed his hug from her body.
He swallowed as he saw her crying, but Nate still smiled at her before he turned his back to her and walked away.
Beatrice just watched him walk away from her, yet her heart was still in pain from the past, she didn’t know what she was feeling at that moment. Beatrice couldn’t think straight this time as she considered Quiver’s situation.
Yet Beatrice smiled while watching him walk away from her.
“I am always thankful for you, Nate.” She whispered to herself until he was gone from her vision.
“I hope that in another universe, The Beatrice and Nate, there is having a happy ending.” She said in her mind and looked down while crying.
