Chapter 23: Last Meeting

Book:Tell me you love me Published:2024-5-28

Lucas learnt about Olivia’s request to divorce, he did not do as told by his father to apologise and seek forgiveness, instead, he asked seriously, “Where is the paper? I will sign right away.”
This was his first time initiated a meeting with his father.
Manfred suppressed his anger, “Lucas Foster, do you know what you are doing? You will lose everything without Olivia Cooper!”
Lucas mocked, “My achievements today were not dependent on anyone, I did it myself. You are useless, so don’t think everyone else is as weak as you are!”
Manfred took a deep breath, his own flesh and blood talked to him with that tone!
“Alright, fine, whatever you like, I will send the paper over, let’s s see how well you will do in the future!”
How well?
Lucas stared at the phone, he had been waiting for a divorce request long ago, but, weirdly it was not as happy as he thought it would be.
He felt his heart was heavy.
He knew that what he did at the office the other day hurt Olivia so much, but he didn’t think Olivia will leave him for real. He was used to her unlimited endurance and firmly believed that she would die without him.
Despite knowing that Olivia could die, but Lucas got a bigger fish to fry.
Olivia Cooper was nothing to him.
He told himself that his interest in Olivia was out of sympathy, now is time to get back on track. Divorce is the correct way!
However, was it really the correct way?
Lucas ignored the odd feeling he felt in his heart, tidied up his shirts, picked up the phone on the desk and dialled a number, “Keen for a meeting tonight?”

Olivia couldn’t control her trembling hands when she received the divorce paper.
This piece of paper used up her youth and life.
“That bastard didn’t even ask the reason for your divorce request, he signed and walked off!” Jacob was furious thinking of Lucas’s behaviour, he clenched his teeth.
His precious daughter was wounded by Lucas, if he knew he was such a cold-hearted mean guy, he wouldn’t have let Olivia married him.
Olivia stared at Lucas’s signature bitterly.
He really couldn’t wait to divorce her?
There was not even a phone call.
She pinched on the paper as if it was their marriage that she was pinching, weak, fragile and easily broken.
“Olivia, I’ve arranged a private jet for you, I will send you overseas tomorrow, your brother contacted the best doctor over there, and you will be well.”
Jacob looked at her daughter and aged a few years thinking about her sickness.
Despite kept encouraging her, he knew what was waiting for Olivia.
It was overwhelmed by Darkness.
Olivia looked at the scenery outside the window silently, her face was as white as paper, she smiled,” Dad, sorry to have kept you worry.”
Jacob turned around, avoiding her from seeing his tears.
“Dad let’s rest early, I’m tired.” Olivia knew her father’s sorrow, she didn’t point at his weakness.
She hated herself for being a burden or making others worried but couldn’t do anything for them.
The night was falling, Jacob was sound asleep, Olivia packed up her things and dazing beside the window… A ringtone interrupted her.
Lucas’s name appeared on the screen.
She felt alive abruptly, she couldn’t stop guessing the reason why Lucas called at this time.
To ask her to go back?
She grabbed her mobile with hope and uncertainty, surprisingly it was not Lucas’s voice from the other end.
“Is this Olivia Cooper? I’m Nathan Hughes, a friend of Lucas, he is drunk and acting crazy now, can you come over?”
Olivia never expected it to be this way, Lucas was drunk…. His friend called using his mobile?
She bit her lips and was hesitating. She couldn’t say yes since they were divorced and shouldn’t have any contact anymore, but on the other hand, it was an opportunity to see him one last time.
Perhaps, this was the last meeting between Lucas and her.
