Chapter 20: The Other Woman

Book:Tell me you love me Published:2024-5-28

Women were strange creatures. They could be extremely firm and determined for years for the sake of love, no matter being teased, humiliated or beaten up. Yet they would retreat when they faced problems that were trivial in some men’s eyes.
The title as the other woman was extremely serious to Olivia. She could not change other’s mind, but she could not tolerate herself intruding in other’s relationship. It could be that was the reason Lucas did not like her. His heart had belonged to someone, and that was why he was always impatient towards her.
She straightened her back and walked out of Lucas’s office. Sadness grasped at her heart and the rim of her eyes went red. Yet she tried hard to hold her tears back. She only buried her face in her hands and burst into tears when she went out of the Foster Tower and got into the car.
Not knowing how long had she cried, she only stopped when her eyes and cheek became sore, “Are you done?” A man’s voice suddenly appeared. Olivia shuddered and looked up, and Lance was looking at her silently while leaning against the car window.
Lance stared at her alert look with an aggrieved look and explained, “I just got out and noticed you. I wanted to greet you in the first place, but I didn’t expect that you’ll cry like this upon entering the car. How would I dare to leave, that’s why I could only wait here.”
Olivia pursed her lips with embarrassment and said softly, “You…thank you.” Lance seemed to heave a sigh of relief and he shrugged, “Did you have a fight with Lucas?” Lucas…A hurtful look flashed across Olivia’s face. She looked towards Lance and asked, “Do you know that woman?” Since they worked together every day and had grown up together, he must be clear about that.
A weird look flashed across Lance’s face and he said while pretending to hesitate, “Are you talking about…Isabella?”
“Isabella, so that’s her name.” Olivia let out a wry smile, “Does Lucas like her very much?” Lance sighed, “Truth hurts, but Isabella has been following him for a long time, and she’s the only woman by his side.” His bland words made her felt even sadder.
Olivia leaned back and her eyes glazed over. So Isabella was the one Lucas loved. She closed her eyes and she finally made a decision. If, he did love her, she would give up on him. She did not want to be the other woman that ruined their relationship, she hoped he could be happy.
“Tell me about them.” Her wound had festered and it would only recover fast after removing the dead tissue. She wanted to feel the utmost pain so that she had the courage to leave Lucas. A joyful look flashed across Lance’s face but he still sounded cautious, “Isabella is a celebrity and has followed Lucas for many years. She has not followed other man. They knew each other at a pub and have been together ever since. I used to guess whether they’ll get married back then.”
Olivia could not help but clench her fists on her knees. If it was not because of her, both of them would have gotten married, “Don’t be sad, Olivia, you’re now with Lucas, and he’ll return to your side sooner or later.” Lance consoled her and then said seemingly unintentionally, “I have to say Lucas did not do good. He’s already a married person but he still be with Isabella every day, the workers have treated her as Mrs. Foster.”

Olivia gritted her teeth. She would set him free this time! She drove the car away in a hurry and left. Lance who was left at the spot was not angry. He blew a whistle with complacence and smiled, “Lucas Foster, what are you without Olivia now?”
