Chapter 30 Here we go again.
I couldn’t open my eyes even though the sun was directly on my face. I was too embarrassed to face the man lying on the bed beside me with his hands wrapped around my body like a tentacle. It was the best night of my life, no doubt but I wasn’t sure about how the mighty King Treven would react once the haze of lust disappeared.
Would he chase me out of his room coldly like the icy prince he is? No. Why? Because I’m now his Queen, not some cheap prostitute. But he can be unpredictable sometimes and the man has mood swings that could rival that of three different women on their monthly flow at the same time.
” Your majesties, Your bath is ready!” A loud voice called from outside the room Suddenly snapping me out of my insecure thoughts successfully. My eyes remain closed though, if Treven was not awake before, he was definitely now.
” I know you are awake, stop pretending” His deep early morning voice muttered beside me. The sound of his voice did what it does best to my body again and I found myself getting aroused once again even after the wild night, if I wasn’t that sore I could have jumped him again right there but I waved the naughty thoughts off my mind, embarrassed that I even had them the first time.
” Marilyn” He called and I finally opened my eyes, pretending I was just waking up. I doubt he bought those little acts though.
” Good morning” I croaked out, my throat already raw from all the unholy noises I made throughout the night. He removed his hands from my body as it burned. Moving farther from me, he didn’t even utter a good morning or reply to my greetings. He just wore his signature frown and icy expression together with his night robes without another word to me. What the hell is wrong with him? Well Here we go again, I guess we were back to the cold shoulder.
Very awkwardly, I gathered my night garment and put it on trying to be as decent as possible. I refused to talk to him also if he wouldn’t talk to him, I don’t care about him, two can play this game. He already slept with me and I don’t think I will need him for a while, until after a few months if I found out that I’m not pregnant then maybe I could just get him to do it again. After all, I married him because Annalise said if I don’t marry him I won’t get pregnant or have a child of my own.
He went to the outer part of his chamber and I followed him still awkward around him, I didn’t know what this ablution or whatever was but it must be part of our morning duties as newlywedded royals.
” Enter” His voice rang out and the door opened almost immediately. An eunuch and two maids entered the chamber from another door I didn’t even notice existed, the eunuch opened the door wider and it was then I noticed, the entrance leads to the king’s personal bath. The room was wide and decorated to absolute perfection. In the middle of the room lay a pool, wide enough to contain thirty people all at once. The maids were throwing in some scented flower petals and some aromatics. From the steam coming from the pool, I could tell that it was warm enough and I didn’t have to worry about the cold. I honestly hate cold water.
” Greetings to Your Majesty” They all bowed at us respectfully immediately after we entered the room. I just gave them a wide smile, unsure about what to do, everything was so awkward because of the giant big bad wolf in front of me.
” Out” He ordered and all of them left the bath at once leaving just the two of us in the room. I remained rooted in the spot as he stripped himself naked and got into the pool. I avoid looking at his perfect body even though my entire body screams at me to look and appreciate the view, I refuse to.
” Won’t you get in?” He raised an eyebrow at me and I glared at him in return. Stripping out of my night robes slowly, I could feel his burning gaze on my bare skin but I couldn’t care less, he had seen more than enough already.
Holding my big breasts with one hand, I gently stepped into the pool getting far away from him as much as possible. I couldn’t help but appreciate the warm water and the heavenly scents of those petals, it was soothing and comforting, I even forgot about my soreness down there. Reaching out, I grabbed one bottle of the scented liquid one of the maids was holding earlier. I raised my nose and it smelled like lavender, one of my favorite scents.
I poured the liquid on my hands and it foamed just like a soap will do. That was marvelous, we only had a bar of soap in Ruqgu, I didn’t know soaps could be in liquid form also. I rubbed it on both hands, before moving to my neck and down to my chest. To give the drooling man in front of me a tease, I spent more than enough time on my breasts, gently caressing and enjoying the feel of the soap and the warm water on my tender skin. You are the first, I promised myself that I would never allow a woman to capture my heart but I’m losing it to you faster than I could safeguard it around you” Turning me around to face him, his grey eyes stared at me with such vulnerability that shocked me.
” But why? I’m sure loving your Queen is the number one rule Nati gave to you, that was the reason why you searched for your queen right?” I asked and he nodded his head positively. ” Then why are you scared of falling for me?”
