Chapter 31 The plot

” Finding our True Queens for Nayaki kings is a blessing and also a curse” He sighed letting go of my body. He stepped out of the pool after rinsing his body. He grabbed a towel and patted himself dry.
” I don’t understand, how is it a curse?” I asked trailing after him after rinsing my body too.
” Have breakfast with me, I will tell you then” He said in a requesting manner, he wasn’t ordering me just a simple request. I nodded at him positively and he got out of the bathroom with me trailing behind him. He wore a pair of new undergarments from the neatly folded pile the servants placed in a corner of the bathroom, I picked an armless, see-through underwear like the one I wore on my wedding day and I wrapped myself in a robe to get myself ready.
The maids already arranged our clothes in the room, I had three options to choose from, a royal blue sleeveless blouse paired with a wide flowery skirt which was more like Traditional Nayaki dressing which would expose my arms and more cleavage I wouldn’t be comfortable with. The other dress was golden in color with heavy embroidery on the skirt, it was a gown with a fitting corset I wasn’t in the mood for. I hate corsets a lot. The last dress was my favorite, it was a wine-colored gown with a sweetheart neckline and long sleeves that were fitted up to my elbow but insanely wide down to my wrists. It has waistbands instead of the corset, it was also heavily embroidered.
” Choose the one with sleeves,” My husband’s voice said behind me and I chuckled slightly. I turned around to face him, he was dressed in a black shirt and a pair of Black trousers. What is with him and black anyway? He doesn’t want me to expose any part of my body. I was planning to choose the last dress obviously but where is the fun if I don’t tease him a little bit?
” I like the blue dress and I want to dress like a Nayaki woman” I pouted pointing at my least favorite dress.
” No! You will dress like a Nayaki Queen. Only The Queen wears sleeves, I wonder who included that in the options in the first place” He huffed pointing at the blue dress with an insane amount of disgust on his face.
” Or you don’t want other men to stare at my body” I smirked and he shook his head with a serious expression.
” No, they know better than to stare at the Queen. You can walk around naked if you want and they won’t dare raise their heads to look at you for fear of losing their traitorous heads. But you can help them save their heads by covering up, we won’t want bloodshed in the palace a day after our wedding would we?” I was sure my jaw hit the floor when he finished. He won’t kill anyone just because they looked at me right?
” You won’t do that”
” Try me. Everyone part you is mine, I won’t have anyone lusting after what is mine” He whispered, planting a kiss on my neck.
” I was planning to wear the wine dress. I was just teasing you which you took too far and seriously” I muttered wearing the innerwear which was a plain white silk armless gown. He called the maids in and they helped us into our outfits properly. Some of them brought make-up and jewelry boxes, others carried a large mirror since the king’s Chambers lacked any feminine products.
Two maids worked on my hairdo, they put my long curls into a back bun and braided some strands around it. A simple emerald crown was placed on my head, not too heavy, and was accompanied by two golden hairpins.
A box containing the tears I used at the temple while fighting the assassins was brought to me. I was told by Annalise and the king’s Aunt that most Queens wear the tears of Natalí as pieces of jewelry to keep them closer to them in cases of emergencies. Touching the greenish rocks, they stirred awake and became a brighter shade of green almost like that of an emerald. The servants watched in awe as the tears hummed and flowed towards me like a pet. Weaving some of them around my fingers, I shaped them into four thin bracelet-like shapes before wearing them on both of my wrists. They looked just like an emerald bracelet before they became solid again on my wrists.
” Return the rest to the temple,” I said to the maid who bowed and left the room immediately. Others started working on my makeup. I caught Treven’s expression in the mirror. He was mesmerized. Once the maids were done, he dismissed them immediately.
” You are so beautiful,” He said and I couldn’t help the blush on my face.
” I have a question. I’m not sure if you know” I said and he gave me a look that said go on, ” You remembered the time I met you at the inn right?” I asked and he nodded mischievously as he led me to his dining room, our Entourage walking closely behind us.
” Why pretend in front of Annalise?”
” I didn’t know what to say to you. I’m grateful you saved my life but I didn’t know how to react since nobody in the palace knew about the incident. I’m still investigating how I was poisoned and who poisoned me” He said shyly and I just laughed at his expression. He can be really cute when he wants to be.
” That wasn’t my question though but I appreciate your answer. I just want to ask about the tears of the goddess”
” What about the tears?”
” The one Annalise gave to me belonged to your mother and it was blue but after my rite at the temple, everything became green and my eyes also changed color why is that?” I asked him and he smiled rubbing my back softly. I melted into his arms instantly.
” The power is now yours. my mother’s color was blue, my grandmother’s was red just a Ruby. The green is your own signature. Your abilities are even different from theirs, I have never heard of a Queen that wielded the tears like a weapon. You are the first” He said pulling out a chair for me. The table was filled with different delicacies that made my mouth water a little bit.
” Oh okay. You promised to tell me something during breakfast” I said reminding him of his promise earlier.
” You are so inquisitive. I know, let’s eat first”

” They are having breakfast together?” Meisi Scoffed as the maid delivered the newest to her. She had planted one of her maids in the king’s palace to report everything to her and she only grew angrier at every news.
Her room has been arranged and she sat on a soft cushion in her Chambers placing her head on her hands with her elbows placed on the arms of the chair. It was still very early in the morning but she was already in a bad mood.
” Yes, your worship. They walked into the king’s dining room holding hands” The girl said confidently.
” The King held her hands? He wouldn’t even touch me for years but he held her hands after knowing her for like how many weeks?” Meisi gritted her teeth angrily, sitting upright, she turned to the left and opened a small shelf beside the chair. She brought out a box and opened it, she took out a small pouch and threw it at the girl.
” From now on, you will add two teaspoons of that inside the Queen’s food every morning. If you act well, your reward shall be doubled” She said with a wicked grin at the young maid who nodded her head with a smile on her face. She would do anything for Meisi because the jealous consort was always generous with her wealth.
” Yes, your worship. I will do as you say” The girl picked the pouch from the floor. ” You can leave now,” Meisi said and the girl scampered away from the room.
” If I can’t bear the king’s heir, I want to see who will”
