THE CEO ALPHA KING (-Burning Jealousy-)
Writer’s P O V
For some unknown reason, Serena couldn’t wrap her head around the cause of the uneasy feeling she had since she left the King’s castle with Beta Adam for his company.
She felt that something was wrong. Even her wolf thought it too. For hours, she continued ignoring the uneasy feeling, but it remained there. Lunch break, she decided to go back to King Zed’s castle and find out for herself if everything was okay.
She thought of informing Beta Adam at first but didn’t, she told him that she was going to grab lunch at a nearby restaurant, and he didn’t have a problem with that. He only instructed the driver that drove them to the company to take her to a restaurant of her choice.
Serena got into the car and instructed the driver to take her back to the castle. He obliged and drove her back.
On getting close to the castle, her uneasiness increased. Her heart started beating faster than usual. She had to mind-link her wolf to inquire what was wrong, but Arya had no idea.
They drove past the gates and parked at the garage. She opened the car and descended, with her hand gripping her purse tightly. She started approaching the entrance of the castle. The uneasiness she felt only increased.
The castle doors got opened for her, and she entered, without wasting time, and knowing fully well that King Zed didn’t go to work, she turned towards the direction of the elevator, which will take her up to his chambers.
She got to the elevator and pressed the open button. The elevator took time before it opened. She sighed and made to get in only to meet a peer of purple orb eyes staring at her knowing.
Serena’s body stiffened at the intense gaze. She didn’t like it one bit, and not knowing who the lady was made her uncomfortable.
But then, the lady suddenly flashed her a smile.
She stepped out from the elevator with her hands joined together in front of her. “I guess it’s you. You are the one who replaced me.” The lady said to her with an evil grin.
Her words got Serena more confused that she asked, “who the hell are you and where the hell are you coming from?” Serena questioned, throwing a glare from her head to her feet.
“I’m Aurora. You might have heard of me. Of course, if you are someone significant, you’ll hear of me.” Aurora said and looked back into the elevator.
“Back then, there were only stairs, nothing like an elevator here, but I love this machine. I love what it can do, and I’m ready to ride it all day long.” Aurora said with her eyes glittering with something unfamiliar.
Serena scoffed and turned to look for a guard. Hell, she needed an urgent explanation because she already suspects that the lady standing before her is no maid at all. She could be mistaken for royalty with the way she’s dressed and with the way her skin glowed.
Fortunately, she saw security looking her way and signaled him to come. The guard rushed over to answer her call.
“Who is she?” Serena asked, sneering and cringing her nose.
“Um, I don’t have an idea, but she said that she is the king’s mate. I think the King already met her,” the guard replied.
“He already did?” Serena shrieked. It added more to the uneasiness she felt.
*His mate? What the hell?* Arya, Serena’s wolf, shrieked. Serena turned to look at Aurora again, and she had that sweet smile on her face.
“I guess you know who I am now.”
Serena scoffed and walked past her to the elevator. She entered and entered the required button, which took her to the king’s floor.
Serena rushed out of the elevator and went to the king’s door. She made to knock but just opened the door.
He met the room empty.
“Your Highness?” She called, turning to look around the room. Where is he? Where did he go to? Serena asked herself as she turned repeatedly.
“Your Highness?” She called out again, going for the bathroom and the closet door. When she didn’t find him, she went to the entrance of the inner room and knocked, but there was no response.
Serena then closed her eyes and tried sensing him out, but her whole being wasn’t at rest, so that she couldn’t do it. Her failed attempt only annoyed her the more.
She heard the door opening and immediately turned to speak but, to her surprise, saw Aurora entering the room.
She scoffed. “Why did you come in? Do you lack respect?” She snarled at Aurora furiously.
“Oh, dear, I should be asking you the same question. You entered the King’s chambers uninvited. You should be thrown into the dungeon.” Aurora retorted.
Serena scoffed again. “I have every right, but you don’t have any. So how dare you question me?” She fired back to Aurora. She was pissed this time.
“That question is meant for you, miss Serena. Didn’t you hear what I told you earlier? I AM THE KING’S MATE!” Aurora stated boldly.
“I came into his life before your existence, before you’re mama even had you so, how dare you?!” Aurora fired again.
Serena chuckled and folded her arms beneath her chest. “That lady that you are referring to, that you are impersonating died a long time ago. For all I care, she died like a fowl. So I ask you again, impersonator, who the hell are you to come into the king’s chambers without invitation?” Serena growled.
Her eyes color changed, and her wolf threatened to come out and devour the annoying lady standing before her, but she held her wolf back. She did it for King Zed’s sake.
*I’ll have to wait till King Zed get back because I don’t know where he is. Arya, stay calm. We can’t act rashly. She might be testing us.* Serena said to her wolf.
She huffed out in frustration and walked past Aurora. She took out her phone and immediately dialed Beta Adam’s line.
“Hello?” Beta Adam’s voice came through. Serena sighed, grateful that she had saved his number correctly.
“It’s me, Serena.” Serena hissed, still very angry.
“Okay, where are you, and what’s happening there?” Beta Adam asked, sensing that something was wrong with the way she talked.
“Everything is wrong. You were hiding her from me this morning. The lady who claimed to be King Zed’s mate.” Serena spat out the words.
A two seconds silence stepped in. Serena imagined his eyes widening.
“Are you… are you at the castle? When did you get there?” Beta Adam asked.
“Where is King Zed? Why isn’t he home? You never told me he was leaving.” Serena probed, breathing fast.
The thought of seeing another lady who claimed to be her mate’s mate wasn’t sitting well with her. She wanted to go back in and drag her out from the king’s room and, if possible, drag her to hell to burn into ashes.
“Well, you shouldn’t have gone home. King Zed just stepped out for something urgent, and I am on my way back.” Beta Adam answered urgently.
Serena disconnected the call and threw her phone away in disappointment and anger. Her anger kept increasing with each passing minute. She might snap at any time.
So, they all knew but hid it from me. Serena felt betrayed.
What if it’s true? What if she is genuinely King Zed’s first mate, then? Is she going to take him back? Is he going to let me go? The thought created a big hole in her heart. She wanted to scream out in frustration.
She placed her hand on her chest and squatted down. She felt her insides on fire. She started having unwanted murderous thoughts.
*
Serena remained seated on the floor of her room when Beta Adam came in, more like rushed in.
He exhaled deeply when he saw her. “Moon goddess, I thought something happened when I couldn’t connect you.” He placed his hand on his chest and continued panting.
“Where is the king? Where is he?” She asked, her eyes fixed on her floor.
“He… he is on his way back. He’ll explain things to you once he gets here.” Beta Adam answered.
“So, is she really the one? Is she his first mate?” Serena probed.
“Yes, but everyone thought she died. I even saw her die, so the fact that she is alive is still a shock to everyone.” Beta Adam answered.
“So, what happens now? Is she coming back into his life? Is that why she is here and in his bedroom?” Serena finally lifted her eyes to stare at him.
Adam saw anger, pain, sadness, and fear all painted on her face. And she was going to burst if care was not taken.
“No! Of course not. Aside from being his mate, she committed an unforgivable crime, trust me, King Zed won’t let her stay.” Beta Adam went close and sat beside her on the floor. He felt she needed someone to calm her down as she was boiling inside.
“She asked me what right I had to go into King Zed’s room. I met someone who challenged my right over the King for the first time, and you know what’s funny? I can’t put her in her place since she is his first.
Before I was even conceived, they had already met each other.” Serena scoffed.
“And I fear that I might have no place here again. She is gorgeous and looks perfect for him. I fear she will take him from me, and I want to murder her for that. My hands are desperate to kill her.” Serena revealed, looking at her hand.
Beta Adam listened to her spill her heart’s content. It was the first time he saw her in that state. He somewhat understood how she felt. He was slightly happy that Serena was finally open about the fact that she did have feelings for the King.
Serena only stopped speaking when the scent of King Zed caught her nostrils.
“He’s here.” She announced and immediately got up. Before Beta Adam could say a word, she ran out through the door and down the elevator.
The elevator opened, and she stepped out. She ran out through the castle’s door only to see King Zed speaking to the one person she had grown to hate in a matter of minutes.
King Zed’s eyes shifted to her direction, and the hardness in his eyes instantly softened. He gave the securities a firm nod and began approaching her. Serena stood and waited for him to get to her, all the while her eyes were fixed on the lady behind him.
Aurora also didn’t stop glaring daggers at her. They both had murderous thoughts, formulating plans on how to finish each other off in the most painful way.
It was terrifying to Serena because that was the first time she ever thought of killing someone. She hated that this strange lady had managed to turn her into a monster.
King Zed got to her and cupped her cheeks, and only then did her eyes settle on him. Without saying a word, she moved one step away from him and gave him a ‘follow me’ look before heading back into the castle.
King Zed, of course, knew the right thing to do was to follow her. He got into the elevator with her, and it took them to her own room.
“Are you getting back with her?” She asked once the door was shut.
King Zed merely chuckled at the heaviness of her word. He could tell she forced them out of her mouth.
“Never. I’m sorry that I didn’t explain things to you, but it’s not what you think it is.” As he said it, he made to cup her cheeks again.
