THE CEO ALPHA KING (-Closer to him-)

“What is it?” King Zed lifted his eyes to look at Serena, who returned to his room.
Serena stood with her hands folded behind her.
She looked around speechlessly; not knowing what to say made her nervous.
“I.. I.. your Highness,” she stuttered.
King Zed stared at her nervous self for a while before returning to his meal.
Serena kept staring at the floor.
“You don’t know why you came back?” King Zed groaned out the question after 15 minutes of awkward silence between them.
She nodded.
“Yes.. yes, your Highness. I am so sorry.” She apologized.
“Have your seat.” He ordered.
Serena quickly went to sit at one of the sofas in his room.
Again, silence took over for few minutes before King Zed spoke up again.
“I’m done. You can take the dishes to the kitchen then return.” King Zed said.
Serena got up and cleared the dishes, and she went out from his room and to the kitchen.
She got to the kitchen and hit her head repeatedly in embarrassment.
How could you be so stupid? Why are you this stupid? You didn’t even say a word. You just stood there like a log of wood. What is your problem? She kept on hitting her head.
“What is the problem?” She heard behind her and got startled. She turned to see Beta Adam standing behind her with his dishes in hand.
“Give me that,” she said and took the dishes from him.
“I’ll wash them.” She turned back to the king’s dishes. She took them all to the sink and started washing them.
“Why are you washing that? I heard you are no longer a slave. You’ll become the king’s worker soon.”Beta Adam asked.
“Then why did you bring the dishes down yourself? There are a lot of servants here who you can order to do that. Why do it yourself?” Serena questioned back.
Beta Adam scoffed.
“You look upset. Why is that?” He asked.
“It doesn’t concern you. Mind your business.” Serena half yelled at him.
She stopped washing the dishes when she realized she overreacted.
“I didn’t mean to yell. I’m just angry with myself for something that doesn’t have anything to do with you. Please leave me alone.” Serena said, sounding as polite as she could.
Beta Adam rolled his tongue in.
“You aren’t any fun. The formal Serena was more fun than you. She was more respectful.” Beta Adam mumbled as he left.
Serena, in turn, scoffed.
“The formal Serena is gone. She isn’t coming back!” She rolled her eyes at him.
But why is this Serena so stupid today? Why did you behave like that in front of the king? Serena asked herself sadly.
I shouldn’t have acted like a silly person. I wonder what he thinks of me now. I hope he is not mad at me. I hope he won’t tell me when I get back to him that he is no longer interested in letting me work for him. I hope he won’t tell me that seriously.
Gosh! I hope I won’t return to being his slave after acting that way. So stupid of me. I should have been smarter. Serena blamed herself for acting foolish and dumb with king Zed.
After washing and drying the dishes, she kept them in their respective place. She cleaned her hands, adjusted her hair, and started heading back to King Zed’s chambers.
The guards there allowed her in without questions. She slowly opened the door and stepped in.
She looked around the room to see King Zed lying comfortably on his big bed.
She slowly walked up to him. He is still awake even when his eyes are closed.
“Can you give a message?” King Zed asked.
“Yes, Your Highness. I also learned that for a while.” Serena responded.
“Then give me a message. I need it. I think I’m getting old.” King Zed groaned.
“Yes, Your Highness.”Serena exercised and stretched her fingers, then walked to the headboard. She took her hand to his shoulders, and her body became cold instantly.
She moved her fingers and began messaging him.
She watched as his eyes remained closed. She wondered if he had fallen asleep yet. She kept messaging him while staring at his face.
Her eyes moved from his hair to his eyebrows, then to his closed eyes, his lids. It also moved to his sharp-pointed nose and his lips.
His long face. She stopped messaging him when she was sure that he was already deeply asleep.
She walked to sit down beside him on the bed. Her hand unconsciously went to his jaw. She stared at him for a long while before bringing down her hand.
You look so typical while asleep, and you look more handsome too. You don’t look like a wicked king like this. How did I end up like this?
How did I end up in your room tonight, my king? Why couldn’t I leave you? Why didn’t I leave you when you sent me away?
Why am I even having all these thoughts about you? Why did you even start changing towards me? What did you see in me lately?
There must be something. I’m not too brilliant, but I’m not too stupid either. Why my king? Why did you suddenly change toward me?
I have a lot of questions to ask, but I can’t ask you. I’m afraid you might end up hating me if I push my luck.
But… the main thing disturbing me is this feeling I’m having right now. What is this feeling?
What could they be my king? Do you perhaps have any explanation for it?
Weird.
I hated and feared you so much in the beginning. Right now, I don’t feel that way again.
My king. What did you do to me? Did you use your powers to change my thoughts about you?
Or is it a different thing?
Weird.

King Zed opened his eyes to see Serena still sitting beside him on the bed, but she was already asleep.
He stared at her fragile self for a second before sitting up on the bed. He moved her slowly. Still, she was lying comfortably on the bed.
He covered her with the duvet and came down from the bed.
I don’t know how it’ll all really end, but I know for sure that you’ll end up with me at the end.
I really don’t understand what the moon goddess is trying to do by giving you to me as my second mate. I mean, who on earth gets two different mates in a lifetime?
You only have one soulmate. King Zed thought as he briefly stared at her.
Well, with you, I’m planning to take everything slowly. I’ll wait for you to come to me on your own. I hope that’s what you are doing.
He went to his desk and sat down on it. He bent his head tiredly with his hand supporting his head. He felt so light-headed, he wondered if he was falling sick.
He hasn’t fallen sick since his mother was alive, so, strangely, he is getting so weak and dizzy, wildly when he stares at the paperwork a lot.
He groaned and rubbed his forehead thoughtfully, trying to relieve himself of the sudden headache hitting him seriously.
“My king,” He heard and immediately looked to stare at Serena, who was sitting on the bed.
“My king.” She called again as she stood up.
“Are you okay? You don’t look okay. Are you perhaps sick? Does your head hurt? You keep rubbing your forehead. I think you might be in pain. Could it be a headache or maybe a serious migraine?” Serena asked at once.
“I’m okay. Go back to sleep.” King Zed replied simply.
Serena looked back at the bed.
She found it strange that she was the one lying on the king’s bed while he was sitting behind his desk. It was supposed to be the other way round for all she knew.
“I… I can’t. It’s your bed, your Highness. I can’t,” She said.
“I said to go back to sleep. Are you disobeying my orders?” King Zed groaned.
“I’m sorry, but I’ll only sleep after I’ve seen you lying down on your bed. But you don’t look good right now? Should I get you a painkiller? I have one in my room.” Serena inquired.
King Zed sighed tiredly. “Why are you so stubborn today?” He asked.
“I’m sorry that I’m stubborn. You can punish me later, but you really need medication and sleep afterward, your Highness. I’ll be scolded if granny Felicia finds out I ignored all these and went to sleep, and besides, you are my King. I can’t let you get sick.” Serena said.
“I’ll go down to my room and get you the medicine,” She added, and before King Zed could utter another word, she left the room and went down to hers.
It was so quiet. A lot of people were already asleep. The only ones who weren’t were the guards patrolling the gate outside.
She took the painkiller. She went down to the kitchen to get a bottle of water and a glass cup. She took them back to King Zed’s room to find him in the position she left him. He was still rubbing his forehead, trying to ease the pain he was feeling.
Serena kept the bottled water down on his desk and brought out two pills of painkiller.
“Have this, Your Highness,” She said.
“Do you really think these drugs will have any effect on me? I’m not half-human. It won’t work on me. Get them away from me,” King Zed grunted.
“I know… but I can’t just leave you like these. It can still help relieve your pain a little bit, even if it’s for two hours. In the morning, then I can tell Beta Adam to get your doctor for you,” Serena said, sounding so sure of herself.
King Zed lifted his eyes to stare at her for a few minutes before receiving the pills from her. He swallowed it down at once, quietly.
Serena opened the bottled water and decanted a little quantity into the cup. Then, she gave it to him.
He received it and drank the water before returning the cup.
“Please, your Highness. Please go to bed. You’ll feel better after having a good rest,” She pleaded after receiving the cup from the King.
King Zed slowly stood up from the chair, and Serena helped him to the bed before he finally laid down.
She made to leave, but he held her hand.
“Where are you going?” He questioned.
“To… to take these back, your Highness.” She replied.
“No, leave them there. Stay here with me instead,” He ordered, but it wasn’t a per-say. It was a request.
“Yes.. yes, your Highness.” Serena nodded and slowly sat down on the bed.
“Aren’t you also going to sleep? Aren’t you lying down?”
Serena was shocked by his words.
“Lie down? Lie down on the same bed with you, your Highness?” She asked in shock.
King Zed didn’t reply but closed his eyes.
Serena tried to contain the feeling of butterflies inside her stomach. She slowly laid down beside him.
She couldn’t close her eyes. She stared at him constantly in disbelief.
She was sleeping on the same bed as the King. She never for once imagined it to be possible.
Even if she was told it could happen in her dream, she couldn’t have believed the person that’d say to her such things.
She turned to look at him again.
“Aren’t you asleep? You are distracting me. Sleep so I can sleep peacefully,” King Zed groaned out at her.
She quickly shut her eyes tight, and Serena’s fingers were locked tightly together.
She still didn’t fall asleep even after 20 minutes. The feelings in her stomach couldn’t let her.
A few hours later, she opened her eyes again to see that the room was brightly illuminated and not only that, she realized that she wasn’t alone with King Zed anymore.
There were three other individuals in the room with them.
