“How are you going to do this?” I whisper and Ben looks back immediately, now in his human form.
“Why did you come here? I told you not to leave there!” He slightly yells at me.
“My eyes couldn’t stop following you.” I say, and the door creaks open. Ben hides behind the house immediately, and i hide behind him. We get to the backyard after noticing the shadow of footsteps approaching. Ben peeps on the coming object and he sees that he is Jude.
“Jude is highly drained. He for sure has a wizard trait in him.” Ben tells me.
“This was how he performed.” I demonstrate with my hands how Jude made me stand still.
“And did you look at him?”
“I wasn’t able to though…”
“Screw that. Let’s go.” He says, and we both move towards Jude. We creep behind them and creak the door open and finally we sit. Ben shuts the door tightly and then search the room for the map.
Alas, it’s missing!
“You can’t find it?” I tell Ben after noticing some rogues approaching.
“I can’t, I can’t! What do we do?” He starts to sweat on his forehead.
“Ben?” I suddenly call his name, softly.
“What?” He replies, softly. “What is it?”
I shake my head, and reply, “We wanted to take this map to confirm if Jude has a wizard trait in him and also to know where Sophia is.”
“Okay?” He gulps.
“Why do we need it again?” I ask.
“That’s true.” He relaxes. “We already know where to find Sophia but do you know what?”
“What?”
“If Jude or any of his members had taken this map, then we are done for.” He clarifies. “They will track down wherever we are and we will never be able to secure Sophia.”
“Ben, you’re the cause of this! I told you to take the map along with you!” I bark at him and he reclines on the sofa.
“What do we do?” I ask him, punching the wall with my fists.
“I don’t know. But I think I’ll have to summon my mates.”
“Mates?”
“Yes, mates. Not that kind of mate.”
“Then do quick! Summon them.” I yell at him and he starts to summon them, I suddenly stop him.
“Wait.” I say. “I have an idea.”
“What is it?” He furrows his forehead.
“Can’t we get the map from Jude through my clone?” I ask, and he sits up.
“Do you think we can?” He asks again and I roll my eyes at him.
“But Jude has the wizard trait in him, what do we do?” I ask.
“Wait, have you even confirmed that he does?” He asks. “I thought you said he retrieved your power.”
“He didn’t, and i don’t fucking know if he has a wizard trait in him.” I reply, hastily.
“Okay. Let’s try it.” He says, and his eyes change color. The yellowish blue color of his eyes illuminate a corner of the room, as he invokes some spirit in him. In few seconds, a knock is heard on the door.
“Open that door.” He tells me, after his eyes have changed into normal eyes. I go ahead and jerk it open. As I do, I leap backwards, too scared to see someone exactly like me.
“Who… Who are you?” I ask my clone.
“That’s not the issue right now. She is your clone, and I deliberately took her out of you to chase Sophia and claim her as her mate. Once she does, it will reflect here because my fangs are hers.”
“Holy molly.” My hands clasp and go straight up to my head.
“So you did this, Ben?” I almost cry. Well, it’s a blessing in disguise because while trying to save Sophia from my clone, I got my mate.
“Screw that. Rose two, what do we do?” Ben asks her, and she sits down.
“What do you want me to do?” She asks exactly in my intonation.
“We need to get the map from Jude and his armies.” Ben says but I interrupt.
“No, we need to confirm if he is a wizard or not. If he has the wizard trait in him, sorry.” I cooperate.
“I’ll answer the last question.” She says. “Jude doesn’t have the wizard trait in him.”
Ben’s lips go agape and mine remain same but deep inside me, my heart throbs and my mind utters whoas.
“How?” Ben asks.
“He doesn’t have it. He only took that trait from you.” She repeats the word, “from you.”
“Whattt…?” Ben stands up and looks out through the window.
“Since you are no longer an Alpha of the SplitMoon pack, Jude is here to retrieve all the power you have as the former Alpha. You might have tried to access the mindlink and it didn’t go through.” Ben nods as she says the last word.
“If you try to use the mind link, it won’t work for either you or Jude but for all other powers you have, Jude needs them to act as the real Alpha of the SplitMoon pack.” She finally comes to an end of her speech.
“Thank you, Rose.” I wave at her but she doesn’t even budge.
“So, what do we do now?” Ben asks.
“If Jude gets mated before you do, then there is nothing you can do it.” She says.
“Nothing?” I ask.
“Absolutely nothing.” She affirms.
“But right now that you don’t have your mate yet, you can still make amends and become the alpha of the SplitMoon pack.”
“I’m not really interested in that. I’m interested in becoming the alpha of moonstruck pack of happy kids high school.” Ben retorts.
“Just make sure you get mated first. And make sure your mate is not a vampire.” She explains, and I sigh.
“You need a mate before this week runs out.” She adds.
“What is today’s date?” I face Ben and he points at the calendar. I go to check and I sigh as I see the date.
“What is it?” My clone asks.
“It Is Tuesday.” I reply, and she smirks.
“You still have six days left.” She smirks again.
“He must get mated to Sophia before Sunday?”
“Exactly.” She answers.
“How do we get Sophia?” Ben asks.
“That’s none of my business. Track her down with the map.” She says.
“We have lost the map.” I reply.
“I will help you get it.” She says. “Stay here while I return.”
Ben nods, and she zooms into the direction Jude’s gone through, just like lightning.
