Chapter 53: THE WIZARD TRAIT

Book:Mated To A Vampire Published:2024-6-4

“We have disclosed our secrets to each other now. May Moon goddess strike any one who betrays.” Ben says.
“What’s the next line of action now?” I ask.
“To find the real Sophia, to find Dylan and maybe your mate.” He retorts.
“I have seen my mate already.” I reply.
“Oh, that’s cool. Maybe he can help us in searching for Sophia and Dylan?” He winks at me but I roll my eyes at him.
“So, if you get your mate now, she’s going to be your Luna?” I ask him.
He scratches the back of his neck, and muffle, “Yes. Since you have gotten your mate.”
“Alrighty, there’s no problem about it. Where do we go first?”
“Bring out the map.” He points to a wardrobe. “Below the portable box.”
I bring out the map as dust gathers in air and forms into my lungs using my nostrils as their medium of passage.
“Here.” I stretch it out to him.
“Come over here and give it to me. Why would you stress a whole Alpha?” He instructs in his Alpha tone but I object in my vampire tone too. Something’s caught my attention – the diary, diary 2. Not the one Ben took out and read with the fake Sophia. I quickly pocket it and feign a smile.
“Do not vex, dear Alpha.” I bow my head a bit, and he smirks.
“Place it here. Let’s check where she could have been.” He asks me to, and i drop it on the table. He dusts the dirt littering the diagram and points to some direction as he gazes at me every now and then.
“You have the wizard trait in you. Why are you asking me where she might be?” I retort, rolling my eyes at him. He twists his arms and they snap and straighten into a long-like stick.
“Shifting?”
“No. Turning.”
“It’s all same.”
“No, turning is not same with shifting. I only turned for you to know how I turn people into their clones.”
“Okay, then. Where’s she?” He sighs, and places his head on the table. Then after a minute, he speaks up.
“At Robert’s office, with Maxwell.”
“The fuck!” I retort, and form fists with my hands. “Let’s go with immediate alacrity.”
“Sure.” He replies, breathes out, and wraps up the map. He throws it at one edge of the room, pockets and we move.
“Don’t you think we will need the map?” I ask him, halfway getting to school.
“No, there’s no need. I don’t need the map to turn a wolf or vampire to its clone.”
“That’s sure for you.” I hail him.
“I hope we won’t meet with Jude or any rogue here?” I face him.
“I hope so.” He sighs.
“Wouldn’t you turn them into their clones should we meet them?” I ask again.
“I can, but that’s if the rogue doesn’t have the witch or wizard trait in itself.”
“Then we gotta be more careful.” I tell him, and he hugs me affectionately.
“We can do this, Ben.” I tell him. “This year’s almost gone. We will make sure we get her as your mate.”
He nods and we keep moving. He suddenly slaps my head downwards as he lowers himself as well.
“What did you see?” I ask him.
“I see Jude and his cohort. My cohorts.” He stifles a response.
“Ain’t you the head? Why are you scared?”
“He might have the wizard trait in him, I’m not sure about that.” He replies. I hit his head and cuss under my breath.
“No way to confirm?” I mutter hardly into his right ear.
“No way. But maybe through the map.” He sighs.
“Why then didn’t you take it along? Didn’t I suggest it?” I biff him on his nose and he sighs in pain. I lift my head immediately and the leaves rustle, thank goodness Jude isn’t facing the direction I’m facing.
“What are you trying to do?” He asks me, and helps me sit again. Almost immediately, I rise to my feet and crawl out of the grasses.
“Rose, what are you doing?” He asks again. “Don’t forget that a wizard has the ability to retrieve all your power.” Hearing that, I become statued as my gaze goes straight to his lips.
“Just tell me how I’ll confirm if any vampire or wolf has the wizard power. How I’ll confirm through the map!” I slightly yell at him.
“You can’t. You just can’t. Let’s take this route and escape instead.”
“No.” I tell him, and start to move.
“I am warning you, Rose! You will regret it if you get caught.” He yells at me. “And if you try to reveal who I am, moon goddess will completely ban you from getting a mate!” I place my fingers on my ears and pretend as though I don’t hear him. Three steps to get inside Ben’s house, Jude stops me on my way. My lips shiver, and i long to compose myself but I just can’t.
“Good day, Alpha Jude.” I greet him, and branch elsewhere to enter Ben’s abode but he blocks my way.
“Where is Ben, where is Sophia?” These are the first questions he’d ask.
“I don’t know where they are.” I shrug my shoulders. “Maybe you should try mind linking them.” He clutches his right hand onto my throat, and spits on my face.
“I will kill you if you don’t tell me. Where is Ben?” He yells at me.
“I… we… You know.” I muffle.
“Talk clearly!” He yells and few of his members join him and start to lash at me.
“Then leave my throat.” I struggle to say, and he jerks his hand away from my throat. I stagger but other members hold me and take me inside the house. The apartment Ben owns.
“So, where is this?” I ask them.
“Talk or die!” Jude slaps my chin, and I return it.
“Who are you?” Jude says, his hands still placed on his chins and other pack members staring in disbelief.
“If you want to know who I am, then tell me who you are.” I retort, taking advantage of their silence and wonders.
“That is Alpha Jude, the head Alpha of all packs in US of A.”
“Excluding Utah.” I clip.
“What’s Utah?”
“Salt Lake City.” I shrug, and jerk the door open. As I try to run, I become stiff in sir and as I try to look back and denote what is holding me down, I can’t. But I summon both Cate, my wolf and Debe, my vampire and fortunately, they respond and give me the back sight. I see Jude twisting and wrecking his hands as his blood drools out of his nostrils. That is not a quality of a vampire nor a quality of a wolf but…
I see an object moving about in the forest like a predator finding its prey. But I remain stuck to where I am. Now, I see a second me separating from my body but the weird thing I notice is that it doesn’t get out and stay out still, it only comes out and return. After several attempts, I’m released. As I look back, the door jams shut. I climb over and knock on the door but no one responds. Turning back to flee, a hand taps me coldly and goosebumps creep up my body as my eyes glare and I breathe heavily but less heavily on sighting the person.
“I told you, you might be captured!” He yells at me, and takes my hands into his as we hurry out of this vicinity.
“What happened? Just say something!” He yells at me but I remain mute.
“What happened! Has your power being retrieved?” He yells again and I nod. Because I want him to go back and fight Jude. Well, I ain’t sure if it has been retrieved.
“The fuck is this!” He furrows his forehead and digs a hole.
“Get inside here. I’ll shift and come here as soon as I’m done with Jude.”
“Hey, don’t go.” I finally speak up. “His pack members are right there.”
“I’ll turn them all into their clones, and use that opportunity to attack Jude.” He retorts, and breathes as he gives his vampire the control.
“Don’t forget to take the map. Okay?” I tell him and he sighs even in his vampire form.
“Sure.” He tells me. “Make sure you stay here, and you don’t try to move an inch even if you’re threatened.”
“Sure.” I say, and he darts towards his abode.
