Chapter 68

Book:The Lycan King's Mate Published:2024-6-4

Third Person’s POV
“We have to start moving now before they can prepare. There’s no use in trying to get in there through the portal since they managed to make a strong barrier.” Mirasol said, looking at Dan, the Lycan rogue.
“We’re going in by force?” he asked, and she nodded. “Did you think about it a few times? It’s the palace, and all the strongest and fierce warriors and fighters are there,” he added.
“Do you think I am such an idiot not to know about that? Of course, I thought about it, and I am not going to ask you to get ready if I knew that we were going to lose in this war,” she replied angrily. “They had no idea about us yet and were taking advantage of that,” she added.
“What if you’re wrong? What if they already knew about us?” Dan asked,
“If they already knew about us, they should have raided all our mansions, you idiot! Do you think Alder will let it pass once he knows that the mansion around the palace was actually a hideout of illegal activities? Especially when he found out that it was being led by a Lycan rogue and a witch?” she asked arrogantly.
“So you really think that it is the best time?” Dan asked, wanting to assure.
“I have waited for this moment to come, even studying the forbidden spell to force reincarnation so I could take my revenge on the royals. After Clarissa died, she still had everyone’s love, respect, and loyalty while they criticized her. I sold myself to the devil for this day, so you better not jinx it, or I am going to kill you first!!!” she shouted. Dan was so scared that he knelt before her. He wasn’t sure about her plan, but he couldn’t voice it to her now since she was already angry.
As Dan was on his knees, some of his men gathered around, waiting for their orders. He stood up and told them to get ready to attack the palace. Everyone looked at each other, but they couldn’t say no to them either. What Dan likes about Mirasol is the fact that she never leads their warriors. She always asked him to do it and showed everyone that he was their leader, which boosted his ego.
Even if he was accepting orders from her, no one knew about that, and they thought that Mirasol was close to him like a mate. Everyone respected him in the thought that he was the one who made decisions and the mastermind of all their illegal activities.
None of them knew that Dan was only a pawn to Mirasol. She was merely using him for that moment. She helps him and lets him lead their illegal activities to earn money and form an alliance with other rogues, lycans, or werewolves. She helps him attract humans, wealthy humans to join them. At first, it was hard for them since they were scared of them. But because they all have something in common, they manage to attract more humans than they could have imagined.
Dan followed their warriors and formed tactics for getting into the palace. He knew that it was surrounded by much more powerful warriors and fighters than he had, but he still followed what Mirasol asked him to do. He thought that she was a witch with a goal and conviction, so there was no way that she would let them lose the war.
“My Lord, you know that I am willing to go to war for you. But I want to make sure that you have thought about this. It’s not that I don’t trust you, but I really wanted to destroy the palace and serve you,” one of the head warriors asked.
“You do not have to worry. Mirasol and I thought about this, and we are sure that we will win this war. They are unaware of our presence, and that’s what we are going to take advantage of. They don’t know what’s going to come to them,” Dan replied, and the head warrior nodded, smiling evilly.
“Alright, let’s go,” Dan said after he was sure that they were ready. “Are you not going to come to us?” he asked when he saw Mirasol at the mansion’s entrance door when they passed by from their training hall.
“I am going too, of course. But I can go there without a sweat. Make sure to start your attack on the eastern border.” she reminded him. Dan nodded and started to walk away with the others.
After they left, Mirasol contacted their allied rogues and told them they were ready to attack. Without Dan knowing, she had gone to them and asked for their support in attacking the palace. Since they were rogues, they were confident that they would be able to defeat the royals, and they knew who Mirasol was, so they didn’t think twice before they agreed.
Humans think like Mirasol. They thought that none of the royals had known any of their hideouts, so more or less, they thought the palace had no idea about them. In their minds, once the palace defeats them, they will be the ones who will lead their illegal activities.
Meanwhile, Mirasol arrived at the eastern border of the palace, and everyone was in their position. They saw a few patrol guards who were walking around. They stood for a while and studied the guards’ movements. They even saw them laughing as they exchanged conversations, which made her smile internally.
“You see, they had no idea about us being here,” she told Dan, who nodded happily. “Get ready now to attack,” she added and looked at the guards again,
Dan motioned his hand for his warriors to walk forward and attack, and so they did. The patrol guards were shocked when the warriors appeared before them, but they managed to fight back. A little later, another set of patrol guards arrived for backups, so they managed to kill a few rogues.
Some rogues managed to pass through them, aiming to get to the palace as planned, but what they didn’t know was that there were sets of patrol guards along the way. They made a layered formation so that when someone slipped away, the next set of warriors would stop them.
The main goal is not to allow any of their enemies to get to the palace. They had to protect Alder at all costs since Mirasol was targeting him to use her mind control ability.
The rogues had started to decrease their numbers, and Dan saw it. He wanted to stop their attacks, but Mirasol wanted to go for it, no matter how at a disadvantage they were. She was so into her revenge that she lost her reasoning, especially when she finally saw Alder.
“What a scene! You are one of us. Why are you siding with that witch and the palace?” Mirasol asked when she saw Isabel beside Alder, who was standing between her and Lorena.
“You know that I don’t share the same craziness as you,” Isabel replied,
“And you think you will be able to defeat me with the help of that weak witch?” Mirasol asked angrily. Dan was just looking at them, and he had a feeling that this battle was not going according to their plan. “How about you, Alder? You are supposed to be the king, and yet you’re hiding in between two witches,” she said, trying to mock him, but he never answered.
“Dan, attack Alder, and I am going to take care of his mind,” she said, and that was the cue for him. He knew that Mirasol could control anyone in their minds, so he confidently charged toward Alder but was kicked by Cindy in mid-air.
“What the–” he exclaimed in disbelief. His face was bleeding because of the kick, and what angers him is the fact that it was given by a very petite woman.
“What, you didn’t expect that coming?” Cindy asked, smirking, “You will have to go through me before you can get to my mate.” she added, which made him and Mirasol laugh.
“So, you were hiding behind three females, so pathetic.” Mirasol mocked Alder again. He was really furious, but he didn’t want to ruin Cindy’s plan, so he had to be patient and wait. He knew that it was over once Mirasol succeeded in getting to his mind.
“Be careful, my love,” he said,
“That goes without saying, mate.” It was Masha. She overtakes Cindy so she will be able to fight much better. Ares, Alder’s Lycan, was furious since he couldn’t join the battle, as well as the fact that their mate was the one fighting in their behalf on their behalf.
Some rogues who passed through the warriors arrived and encouraged Dan, so instead of asking Mirasol to run away, he decided to fight Cindy. He shifted and jumped onto her, along with two more rogues aiming at Cindy. They thought that it was only her since they surrounded the palace and they were within all borders. They assumed that the beta and gamma would be too busy with other parts of the borders. But they were shocked when Cindy shifted aim to Dan’s neck while Lance and Charles, who came out of nowhere, fought the rogues.
Mirasol was shocked. She realized that they were expecting them already and that she had made a bad decision. But that didn’t give her enough reason to retreat. She was furious that she thought they had been deceived. Because of that, she uses her mind-controlling ability to Cindy and aims to make Dan kill her instantly to weaken Alder.
All of a sudden, Cindy stopped. Dan took that chance and was about to lunge at her but was thrown away before he could ever touch her.
