Third Person’s POV
Cindy watched as her mate, King Alder, spoke to the palace council about the recent threat to the palace. She couldn’t help but feel nervous as she stood beside him, her aunt Lorena standing behind her.
Lorena had been brought to the palace to provide information about the threat, and Cindy was grateful for her aunt’s help. But she couldn’t help but worry about the consequences of bringing a witch into the palace.
She looked around at the council members, trying to read their expressions. Some of them looked skeptical, while others seemed worried. Cindy could sense the tension in the room, and she knew that everyone was on edge.
King Alder spoke with authority, his voice strong and clear. He explained the details of the threat and what the palace was doing to protect itself. Cindy watched as he commanded the attention of everyone in the room, his words ringing with conviction.
As he spoke, Cindy felt a surge of pride in her mate. She knew that he was a strong and capable leader, and she was grateful to be by his side.
But as King Alder finished speaking, Cindy felt a pang of anxiety. She knew that there was still so much more to be done, and she couldn’t help but worry about what would happen next.
Suddenly, one of the council members spoke up. “Your Highness, what about the witch? How do we know that we can trust her?”
Cindy felt her heart sink as she heard the question. She knew that her aunt was trustworthy, but she also knew that there were those who would question her loyalty because of her witch heritage.
King Alder looked around the room, his eyes meeting each council member in turn. “I can assure you that my mate’s aunt is here to help us,” he said firmly. “She has provided valuable information that will help us protect the palace. And I trust her completely.”
Cindy felt a surge of relief as she heard King Alder’s words. She knew that her aunt had been honest and forthright in her dealings with the palace, and she was grateful that her mate had faith in her.
But as the council members continued to debate, Cindy couldn’t help but feel a sense of frustration. She knew that time was of the essence and that the palace needed to act quickly to protect itself.
As the discussion continued, Cindy’s thoughts turned to her aunt. She looked over at Lorena, who was standing quietly behind her. Cindy could see the worry in her aunt’s eyes, and she knew that the situation was difficult for her as well.
Cindy couldn’t imagine what it was like for her aunt to be caught between the worlds of witches and humans. Lorena had always been a loving and caring presence in her life, but Cindy knew that her aunt had faced discrimination and mistrust because of her powers.
And now, with the palace council debating her trustworthiness, Cindy couldn’t help but feel sorry for her aunt. She knew that Lorena had always been loyal to her family, and she couldn’t bear to see her aunt doubted and questioned.
As the discussion continued, Cindy looked over at King Alder. She could see the determination in his eyes, and she knew that he would do everything in his power to protect the palace.
And as the council finally came to a decision, Cindy felt a sense of relief wash over her. She knew that there were still many challenges ahead, but she also knew that she had her mate by her side, as well as her aunt.
They are in the king’s office. Joshua was so happy that he had proven himself correct and, at the same time, thankful when Alder told him that he believed in him. That’s why he stayed with me. Cindy and King Alder had no choice but to inform them about her because it would be very difficult to explain to them why she had an aunt who was not related to Clover’s parents, and they all agreed to keep it a secret from everyone.
“I am thankful that we are all in this together,” Alder said.
“We have to. Joshua told us before that he had seen a war between Lycans and werewolves. Some outside force will be the cause of this.” One of the council members said,
“Now that we are clear about everything, We can say that we will be more prepared for what’s to come,” said Joshua.
“As far as I know, we have to be careful of Cindy’s mother. Her family will definitely get back at her.” Lorena said,
“Why?” Joshua asked curiously, and they all looked at her. She only tells them that Isabel’s family is their mortal enemy, but she does not tell them the reason.
“Isabel is from the family who used the first black magic.”
“The family that the previous king had punished about 200 years ago?” Joshua asked, shocked. Lorena nodded, and judging by the council’s reaction, Cindy thought that her mother was considered bad news.
“Why did they get punished? Don’t tell me that they are the same family who killed my grandmother.” It was Alder.
“Yes, Your Highness. But it was no ordinary murder. Your grandmother took her own life under their spell. Without her knowing, she was already doing something unusual, or that was against the palace rules,” Josha explained.
“But she’s her daughter. Is she going to hurt Cindy intentionally?” Mia asked worriedly.
“She won’t be able to do anything to Cindy. She will just repel them. Since she doesn’t know anything, it will be difficult for them to get into her mind. And since she’s their family as well, she will be immune to that,” Lorena said.
“Then it’s good; they can’t do anything to her, right?” Sheena asked this time before she looked at me with concern.
“Yes, they can’t do anything to her. But they can with His Highness.” Cindy’s aunt answered, so she looked at Alder and saw his face harden. Her grandmother died by killing herself. There’s no way that she’s going to let that happen to him.
“Why did they do that to his grandmother?” she asked curiously.
“A family member liked her so much that he killed himself when he found out that his highness’ grandparents were mates. I didn’t know the full details, but that man’s mother took her revenge,” her aunt answered.
“How did you know about this?” Cindy asked.
“Our ancestor was the one who tried to stop that from happening. But because none of us knew about their black magic, we weren’t prepared, so we didn’t manage to help her. Getting into His Highness’ mind will be different. Remember, he is the king, and everything he says or asks will be a command we can’t disobey.”
“Then, once they got into his head, they could easily make him do whatever they wanted!” Lance exclaimed. He started to feel worried since he knew how that family was being punished. It was not a secret to every palace member.
“That’s why, Cindy, you have to stay with him all the time until we find out about what your mother’s family was planning,” Lorena said,
“But are you sure that my mother was with them? I mean, she left us. If she wanted to harm me, she could have done that even before this.” Cindy said,
“I know, but we shouldn’t let our guard down. We have to be prepared for every possible attack they will make. I’m certain that they were starting to make a move.” Lorena said, “Taking some omegas from their packs is proof,” she added.
“How did you know about that?” Charles asked. “We had a meeting about that just recently,” he added.
“While I was waiting for someone to come to me as my niece, I heard kidnapping reports, so I did all I could to gather some information about the incident. Our ancestors saw to it that we would continue to help the palace and the royals with black magic threats. My niece being the queen, I was glad that I already did some digging before this.” Lorena replied.
“Then we need to start planning. We can’t just sit and wait for them.” Alder said, looking at his mate, who had worry all over her face.
