Chapter 52

Book:The Lycan King's Mate Published:2024-6-4

Cindy’s POV
“Make sure to take care of yourself,” Alder said for the nth time. Mia and Sheena will go with me to the Blue Moon Pack. He wanted to come too, but I told him that I could manage and that he still had many things to do in the palace. Plus, Lance will go to Fairbanks to check on my aunt. I checked all of my and my dad’s travel history, and it was the only place we didn’t go on business trips.
“I can take care of myself, and let me remind you that I am with my friends,” I replied. He worried too much, and I didn’t want that. He might surprise me in the Blue Moon Pack and leave the training instead. “We have Charles with us. What are you still worried about?” I asked.
“He will be too busy with Mia, you know that.” He replied, rolling his eyes at me. It will take a long time if I don’t stop him.
“Are you really letting me go with them?” I glared at him. He sighed and nodded his head. I smiled at him and kissed him deeply. I didn’t want him to think that I was mad or that I was too eager to leave. “I will be back before you know it,” I said as I stepped out of our bedroom. Mia, Sheena, and Charles waited for me. While we’re away, Alder will be in charge of the training along with the other palace trainers, and leaving is not an option for him.
“Make sure to assign someone who will do things like this in the future. I didn’t want you to leave the palace without me, but you left me with no choice now.” He said it in a sad voice before I got into the car.
“I will try to do that,” I replied and climbed up. He kissed me before he closed the door and before Charles started to drive. He was still watching us as we left, and I glanced back. I shook my head, thinking about how stubborn he was.
“You can’t blame him, you know,” Mia said, and I agree with that. He was scared, sick, and worried about me. If I hadn’t told him I loved him, he would never have let me leave, thinking I was planning to leave him for good.
The two of us talked about setting everything up. I explained to him that we would just be there and help with the installation. Once I’m sure everything is fine, we will return immediately.”
“He loves you so much, her highness. He waited for you, so it was natural for him to feel scared. “I would feel the same way if I wasn’t here with you,” Charles replied.
“Why would Your Highness be concerned about you leaving?” Sheena asked. We sit together in the backseat while Charles drives with Mia in the passenger seat.
“Because I never accepted him at first.” My response was, “I didn’t trust any men after my first mate rejected me. Then he came after I rose from the dead.”
“Woah! That’s a lot. And I understand why you hesitated at first, and now I know why he was so scared of losing you.”
“That’s why I needed to do things faster so we could go back as soon as we could,” I replied.
“We can’t just let him train the wolves, goddess; he’s our king!” Sheena exclaimed. “And did you see how those she-wolves looked at him? It was as though they wanted to eat him alive. The looks on their faces were all like they wanted to rip his clothes off.”
“Stop it, Sheena; remember that they looked at your mate the same way, and he is out of the palace on a mission on human territory. How do you think those women will see him?” I asked. I didn’t like the idea of someone else wanting what’s mine.
“Goddess! What if someone tricked him? I should have come to him.” She replied, and I rolled my eyes at her while Mia and Charles laughed at us. They have been in the clouds since they were together, which made Sheena and I envious. Anyway, the Blue Moon Pack is just a couple of hours away, and Lincoln is already there. I just hope he was still sane if he saw something he shouldn’t have while waiting for me.
Alpha Neil welcomed us and led us to Alpha’s office, where Lincoln was. “Cindy! I didn’t know that you were a werewolf!” He exclaimed as soon as he saw me. I looked at Alpha Remos, and he shrugged his shoulders.
“How long have you been here?” I asked him after taking the seat Alpha Remos had offered me.
“Just an hour, I guess,” he replied, and I saw everyone sitting down.
In light of what you said, how did you learn about werewolves?” I inquired curiously. I didn’t know he knew about our kind, and I had been worried about him.
“My mother had a werewolf friend. Something to do with a mate, but she said she was already married to my father, so she didn’t accept him,” he replied.
“You never told me about it.”
“Because I didn’t know you were one of them. If I had known, I would have introduced you to my stepfather. After my dad died, he came back to claim my mother again, and she agreed.”
“I see. At least I don’t need to make any alibis or reason out with you on this.”
“So, you wanted a security system for this pack?” he asked, and I nodded. “You don’t seem to live here; why would you want that?”
“I am their queen, and I wanted to help them secure their pack and members since there were some incidents of kidnapping targeting the week and omegas,” I answered.
“Wow! You’re a billionaire in the human world and a queen here? You are amazing! Anyway, I brought everything you asked for and extras just in case something came up. I based my estimation on the details you sent me, and knowing you, I’m sure it was accurate.”
“Alright, let’s get down to business. You don’t know how relieved I am now that I don’t need to look after you.” I said and looked at Alpha Remos, “Are the people who will look after the system ready?”
“Yes, Your Highness. They are waiting in the room you asked me to prepare for the installation.” He answered.
“Make sure there is nothing in there. All we needed were chairs and tables, and Lincoln would fill the rest up.” I said that and got up. Mia, Sheena, and Charles stood up as well. “Oh, I forgot. Alpha Remos, Lincoln, this is Sheena, our beta female. You already know our Gamma, Charles, and this is Mia, his mate. Guys, this is Alpha Remos and my very good friend, Lincoln.” I introduced them. After they greeted each other, we walked into the room and found three other wolves named Ryan, Alex, and Don. I called them the Three Musketeers.
Lincoln began working with the three musketeers after the introduction. They move really fast and thank the goddess that those three were all good at technology. I looked at Alpha Remos and was glad that he didn’t stop any of his pack members from doing what they loved. Being knowledgeable in IT and computer science, most alpha’s wouldn’t agree with their pack members to study that field since they were wolves. Despite this, the Blue Moon Pack is quite impressive, considering they were previously rogues.
We stayed in the pack for another day and found out that Lincoln’s stepfather was a rogue. So when Alpha Remos heard it, he asked if they wanted to stay in his pack. My friend smiled and told him that he would try to persuade his stepdad because he had been a rogue for a long time. “Your stepdad is pretty amazing. Being rogue for a long time means they will become feral and live like animals. Their humans couldn’t control their wolves anymore, especially when they lost their mates. It is likely that he had someone with him during those times he was not with you.” Alpha Remos said, and that made me think as well. Based on what I read, what Alpha said was true.
I looked at Charles and found him looking at me as well. It seemed like he wanted to say something. “He said he had been with friends for a long time. They helped each other and him when my mother didn’t accept him. His friends often come to our house as well, and they are pretty nice. You’re worried about me, right?” Lincoln said. He is a very close friend of mine, and I didn’t want anything to happen to him. He knows me very well, so I nodded my head.
“You don’t have to. It was clear to me how much he loved my mother and that he would never hurt her. He hasn’t done anything for me yet, so I guess he’s fine with me. He even asked me to stay at their house since my mother was old. You know me; I even put a surveillance camera in their house to make sure mom is fine.” He assured me, so I sighed in relief.
When it was time to leave, Alpha Remos never stopped thanking me for what we did. He has no beta as of this moment, so their security will be lacking. “Just take care of the pack and be the Alpha they deserve,” I told him, and he smiled, nodding his head. I knew he knew what I meant, so I turned and got in the car. We were a day early and didn’t inform Alder. Charles was warned about it just in case he tried to spoil the surprise. Oh, I can’t wait to see my king.
