She went to the hospital to see a gynecologist and underwent several tests.
She waited for the results.
After about an hour, the results were out, and she took them to the outpatient department.
The doctor looked at them and then at her, “Based on the results, you do have a biochemical pregnancy. Most patients do not have any symptoms. Why do you have this suspicion?”
Freya took a deep breath. Her guess was correct.
Though her period was not delayed, this time it was unusually heavy, with a lot of blood clots.
Unlike before, she specialized in cardiothoracic surgery, not obstetrics, but she knew a little about it.
Probably more than the average woman.
Freya remained silent. The doctor thought she had stumbled upon the answer accidentally, patiently explaining, “A biochemical pregnancy is a term used after the HCC test, which means you have not noticed any pregnancy symptoms, and the conception time is very short, not even surpassing the menstrual period, because the embryo had problems and naturally died. Then a natural miscarriage occurred. This process is called a biochemical pregnancy. In normal circumstances, if you do not pay attention or undergo an HCC check, you would just think that this menstrual cycle is different, with a slightly heavier flow and longer duration. If you wait a few days and come back for another check, if everything is cleaned out, it will not affect your ability to conceive in the future. However…”
The doctor looked at her, “From your tests, it seems that your body may not be suitable for childbirth. Your uterus is very thin.”
Freya knew her situation, “Yes, I know.”
“Since you know, you must take precautions for birth control.” After saying this, the doctor wrote something down, “I’ll give you some medicine to help with the cleaning process.”
Freya nodded.
“This kind of miscarriage is not much different from a regular one. You should take care of your body.” the doctor advised.
Freya lightly acknowledged.
Leaving the outpatient department, she went downstairs to queue for the medication.
During the queueing process, she gently placed her hand on her abdomen.
Her fingers slowly tightened on her clothes.
She felt as if in a daze, as if she had just had a dream.
It felt unreal that she was queuing for medication now; it all seemed fake.
Too unreal.
After collecting the medication, she left the hospital.
She got in the car and headed home.
Her complexion was a bit pale.
Elowen saw this and asked, “Are you feeling unwell?”
Freya shook her head.
Elowen noticed the medication in her hand and asked, “If you’re not feeling unwell, why do you have this medication?”
Freya looked down and saw she was still holding onto the medication!
She forced a smile, “Aunt Flo is here, my back hurts a bit, so I got some medication.”
Elowen nodded, “I’ll make you some ginger tea with brown sugar later.”
Freya said, “Okay.”
“Rest upstairs!”
…
Freya lay in bed, feeling the warm covers, but she felt cold.
She curled up.
“Mommy.”
A sweet voice came, and she opened her eyes to see Kai kneeling at the bedside, looking expectantly at her.
Freya reached out to pat his head.
“Would you like to sleep with mommy for a while?” Freya asked gently.
Kai shook his head, “I don’t want to sleep.”
Freya smiled, pinching his soft cheeks, “Then, do you want to watch mommy sleep?”
Kai asked, “Can you play with me?”
How could Freya refuse such a soft and adorable son? She lifted the covers and got off the bed, picking him up, “What do you want to play with me?”
Kai tilted his head, thinking.
Elowen came up, seeing Freya holding Kai, and asked, “Is your back not hurting anymore?”
