Orion was grateful that he hit the brakes just in time.
Even so, he came dangerously close to hitting the person who suddenly appeared in front of his car.
“Orion.”
Haley stood calmly at the front of the car, not throwing a tantrum or being hysterical, and looked at him steadily.
Orion wanted nothing to do with her anymore.
“Move out of the way, or I’ll call security,” he said coldly.
Staring at him through the windshield, Haley replied, “You can ignore me, but I will come back. If it doesn’t bother you, go ahead and call security.”
Narrowing his eyes, Orion asked, “Are you threatening me?”
“No, I just want to talk to you,” Haley said.
In a cold tone, Orion replied, “Haley, do you think you have the right to negotiate with me now?”
“I’m not negotiating with you. Can’t I even have a conversation with you?” Haley retorted.
“Yes,” Orion gave a definitive answer. “I don’t want to see you. I don’t want to know anything about you.”
Haley said, “We were once a couple, and you show me no mercy. Despite your cruelty to my family, I don’t hate you.”
After experiencing these events, she had come to understand a lot of things.
Perhaps, good and evil would have their consequences.
With a smile, she continued, “This consequence should fall on me, but it only brought suffering to my parents. If I didn’t like you, didn’t marry you, none of this would have happened. I would still be the daughter of the prestigious Holt family, pursued by many suitors. Why was I so foolish to choose you? Now that I see you, aren’t you just an ordinary man? Perhaps more handsome than most, but can looks put food on the table? If given another chance, I would choose someone who loves me, looks aside, but I have no chance. My life, from liking you, has turned into a tragedy.”
Orion remarked, “Your tragedy isn’t from loving me, but your possessiveness.”
Haley neither denied nor admitted it, merely curling her lips and saying, “Perhaps.”
“Have you heard about my situation?” Orion asked, remaining silent, seemingly implying acknowledgment.
With a bitter smile, Haley confessed, “I must be pitiful, right? When you drove my family to a dead end, my mother fell ill, and I had no money. How am I supposed to survive with my mother?”
“Is there a point in telling me this?” Orion didn’t want to hear about her.
“It’s pointless. I just wanted to see if you had any sympathy for me, but I guess I was expecting too much. You’ve become so heartless that you deny your own kin, haven’t you?” Straightening her clothes, Haley apologized, “I’ve bothered you. I’m sorry.”
With that, she stepped aside.
Orion stepped on the gas without a second thought, leaving decisively.
Haley stood in place, watching the car drive away with complex emotions shining in her eyes.
Orion glanced at her through the rear-view mirror.
She no longer exuded her former arrogance.
Her eyes lacked their former luster.
He looked away.

Having reviewed the personnel structure and resumes of everyone in the courtyard, Freya had a general understanding.
If she didn’t manage the relationships well, her work would be challenging.
Taking on Wesley Donaldson’s position, her first task was to build good relationships.
She summoned Neo Miller.
Accompanying Neo Miller was a strange man. Freya had never seen him before and confirmed that he was not from the courtyard.
“He’s here to see you,” Neo Miller stated.
“Me?” Freya raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, I saw him asking around for you in the hallway, so I brought him here,” Neo Miller explained.
Freya scrutinized the man before her. “Are you looking for me?”
Handing her a delivery document, the man said, “Are you Freya?”
Freya confirmed.
“I’m a courier. Please sign here for the package.”
Curious, Freya asked, “Who sent this to me?”
“I have no idea,” the man replied.
After signing, Freya opened the package.
Inside was a letter.
She wondered if it was Luna reaching out to her. However, the handwriting on the envelope was unfamiliar to her.
Tearing open the envelope, Freya unfolded the letter.
