“How could it be…” She murmured quietly.
Yet her gaze remained fixed on the diagnosis report.
Was Wesley Donaldson in such a rush to retire because of his illness?
She was a doctor, a cardiac surgeon, currently researching artificial hearts.
There was no one who understood heart diseases better than her.
Wesley Donaldson was diagnosed with malignant arrhythmia.
This disease sounded harmless enough.
But in reality, it was dangerous.
Arrhythmia, especially malignant arrhythmia, was a severe form of heart disease, as during severe arrhythmia, the normal rhythm of the heart would be disrupted, resulting in irregular beating and sudden cardiac arrest. Patients could experience sudden loss of consciousness, collapse, and they would require immediate emergency treatment. Without prompt medical intervention, death could occur at any moment!
From the data on the report, Wesley Donaldson’s condition was very severe.
Some cases were mild, detected early, and had hope for a cure.
But Wesley Donaldson had no chance, and could only be controlled with medication.
When the condition became uncontrollable, it might be fatal.
Sometimes she found it ironic.
Wesley Donaldson was involved in cardiac research, yet he had such a serious heart condition.
She made an effort to adjust her emotions, trying to calm herself as much as possible.
Thankfully, her profession endowed her with a sense of calm, and soon her emotions settled.
She placed the report in the drawer.
Then, she took a deep breath and continued with her work for the day.

Orion had his assistant find him a new place to stay, very close to the company.
He paid someone to track down Luna’s whereabouts.
And he threw himself into his work; immersing himself in work helped ease the longing for Luna.
The assistant arranged the accommodation and came over to deliver the keys, “The apartment is close to the company, the environment is good, but the only downside is that it’s not very spacious.”
“I’m fine on my own,” Orion replied.
He casually placed the keys in the drawer.
The assistant mentioned, “You have a meeting with Mr. Sandoval at Vista Lounge this afternoon.”
“Got it,” Orion said.
In the afternoon, around three o’clock.
Orion arrived at the meeting place with Erasmus Sandoval.
They had a collaborative case to discuss.
He arrived early.
Erasmus Sandoval arrived about ten minutes later, accompanied by a beautiful woman.
Orion recognized the woman.
She was Haley!
“I’m sorry for the wait,” Erasmus Sandoval said, extending his hand with a smile.
Orion ignored Haley’s presence, shaking hands with Erasmus Sandoval. “I just arrived.”
Erasmus Sandoval introduced, “This is my secretary.”
Orion merely nodded in acknowledgment.
Showing no additional expression or eye contact.
Orion truly treated Haley as a stranger.
As Orion and Erasmus Sandoval had previously dealt with business matters, the collaboration discussion went smoothly and they signed the contract.
After a brief conversation, Orion made an excuse of having other matters and left.
The assistant drove and couldn’t help looking at him through the rear-view mirror.
After hesitating, the assistant spoke, “Mr. Russo, Haley is not just Erasmus Sandoval’s secretary, she’s also his mistress.”
Orion coldly raised an eyebrow, “And how does that concern me?”
“She used to be referred to as your wife…”
“You said, she used to be.” Orion didn’t want to hear it and interrupted.
The Holt family fell, Ten Holt went to prison.
Haley had to seek survival.
It wasn’t hard to understand why she might do something out of the ordinary.
But no matter what she did, it had absolutely nothing to do with him.
The car stopped, Orion returned to the company.
After attending a meeting, it was already evening. He ate something hastily outside the company building and continued working.
Holding the keys, he left work past eleven in the evening.
He took the elevator to the underground parking lot.
As he pressed the unlock button, the headlights blinked twice.
Orion opened the car door and sat in the driver’s seat, started the engine, and drove away.
Just as he was about to exit the garage, suddenly, someone rushed in front of the car.
