“Shh.” Lane Glover gestured.
Freya took a good look at him, furrowing her brows. “What are you doing?”
Why all the secrecy? Why drag her to this secluded place?
Freya thought it was a bad person.
“I just didn’t want anyone to see us!” Lane Glover chuckled. “I wanted to thank you.”
Freya adjusted her clothes and asked, “Thank me for what?”
Lane Glover hesitated a bit before speaking, “You ask questions you already know the answer to.”
Freya really had no idea.
“If you don’t want to say, I’ll leave?”
Lane Glover grabbed her arm. “Don’t rush me!”
Freya replied nonchalantly, “It’s time to go to work.”
Lane Glover smiled sheepishly, “Yesterday, you didn’t mention that it was me who gave you the address. I know you were looking out for me.”
Freya brushed off some nonexistent dust from her clothes. “No need to thank me. It’s enough for me that I’m the only one being excluded in the courtyard. At least you guys should stick together so we can create greater value, right?”
There was more to her words.
Lane Glover understood the underlying meaning in what Freya said.
She felt a bit embarrassed. After all, they were the ones who had initially excluded Freya.
What Freya said was right. They needed to stick together to create greater value. When everyone first arrived in the courtyard, didn’t they all think they were saviors and they could save humanity?
The reality was not that simple.
“In fact, we’re pretty united.” Freya smiled lightly. “I also believe that we are united and can work together to create a better future.”
Lane Glover had a slightly different view of Freya. She realized that Freya wasn’t utterly useless. Despite everyone being against her, Freya hadn’t retaliated against anyone. Lane had offended her but Freya hadn’t questioned her.
Freya had that right as she was going to become the dean soon.
“Well, I won’t delay you any longer. You should go in first.”
Freya joked, “It’s work time, no slacking off.”
“I am the hardest worker,” Lane Glover said.
Freya walked into the hospital and was called to Wesley Donaldson’s office.
Wesley Donaldson was packing up his things.
The door was open, and Freya entered.
Wesley Donaldson waved at her. “Come over here.”
Freya walked over to him.
“I’ve taken my personal belongings with me. The reports and research materials in here are all yours. I’ll still be here for the next two days. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me,” Wesley Donaldson said.
Freya nodded.
“I’m leaving, and there’s a bit of reluctance.” Wesley Donaldson sighed. “I’ve been here for half my life. This place is like a home to me.”
“You can come anytime to inspect my work. If there’s something I haven’t done well, feel free to criticize me,” Freya said.
Wesley Donaldson laughed heartily. “Are you implying that I would dare to criticize you? You have a strong backing. Whereas I, I can’t offend anyone except you.”
Wesley Donaldson was just playing around.
The atmosphere was lively.
Freya smiled too.
The files she had organized, various records, filled an entire wall of cabinets with the results of the research conducted in the courtyard over the years, along with some report materials.
“I’ve placed everything you need to know now in the top right corner of this cabinet. Below are personnel files, which you need to familiarize yourself with quickly. You can take your time with everything else,” Wesley Donaldson explained.
Wesley Donaldson spoke about a lot of things and gave many instructions.
Freya listened attentively.
Wesley Donaldson received a phone call about an urgent matter and had to leave.
“Take a look yourself. If there’s anything you don’t understand or need to know, give me a call. I might not come back today; there’s something I need to take care of.”
Freya nodded. “Okay.”
After Wesley Donaldson left, Freya arranged the files she needed to look at on the table. As she reached for the cabinet labeled personnel files, her hand paused for a moment before she put down the files and opened the cabinet.
She hadn’t been eligible to view these files before.
Now she could.
To quickly understand them, she would start with the files.
She placed all the files on the table, sat down, and picked up the top one. Accidentally, she knocked over a pile of documents with a loud crash.
She hurried to pick them up and saw a report sheet
Later, the diagnosis on the sheet made her hands tremble.
