She was afraid of a conflict.
Zane was easily agitated.
Freya turned to Orion, “It’s late, you should go home.”
Before she could finish her sentence, a figure rushed over and struck Orion across the face.
Freya hurried to stop Zane, “What are you doing, you both are injured.”
Orion wiped his lip, shot Zane a sideways glance, and said, “I’m backing out. If you want to be with Luna, go ahead. Just don’t lay a hand on me when you see me.”
He didn’t resort to violence like Zane.
Zane sneered, “Orion, you’re truly despicable. Luna left, and you’re acting all righteous here. Why didn’t you do something earlier? If you let her go sooner, she wouldn’t have left alone!”
“She left? Where did she go?” Orion was completely clueless and he was taken aback.
He knew Luna had no close family but a good relationship with Freya.
“Freya, where did she go?”
Orion turned to Freya.
Freya truthfully responded, “Luna remembered the past, she wanted a fresh start. She said if she meets the right person, she’ll marry. Where she went, I do not know.”
Orion felt flustered, speaking urgently, “How could you let her go? Why didn’t you contact me…”
“Orion, she made up her mind, and I think her decision is right. Do you think you and her can still be together? Both of you should let go!” Freya said.
Orion and Zane remained silent. Their reactions were uniform.
“Both of you, leave. It’s late, don’t disturb my son’s sleep anymore.” Freya ordered them out.
But neither of them moved.
Zane spoke first, “Orion, Luna left for a reason, it’s because of us two. This time, she left without even telling her sister, it shows she’s really made up her mind. She probably won’t be coming back.”
“So what?” Orion asked.
Zane shared his thoughts, “Whoever finds her first, gets to be with her. The one who finds her later automatically steps back.”
Orion didn’t respond.
Because he believed they should respect Luna’s choice.
What if the person who found her first wasn’t to her liking?
Orion looked at Freya, “You should rest early. I’ll head back first.”
“Hey, Orion…” Zane wanted to ask if he agreed, but was held back by Freya.
“I have a few words to say to you.”
Though reluctant, Zane stayed.
Elijah went upstairs.
Freya sat on the sofa in the living room. She rubbed her eyes, easing her fatigue.
“Freya, what do you want to tell me?” Zane asked.
After looking at him for two seconds, Freya asked, “Is your work going well recently?”
“Huh?” He answered without thinking, “No.”
He indeed had no focus on work, Luna’s departure had thrown his emotions into disarray.
“What makes Luna like you?” Freya probed gently.
“Do you need a reason to like someone?” he retorted.
“Don’t you?” Freya questioned, “If you can’t even settle for a job, how long can your love and like last? Luna is a mature woman with long-term plans, what can a rash, unstable, and homeless person like you offer her?”
Her tone slightly paused, “Orion has a stable career. If Luna chooses him, at least she’ll have a comfortable life without financial worries. What do you offer if she chooses you?”
Zane fell into complete silence.
He absorbed Freya’s words.
What she said made sense, and he began thinking what he could offer Luna.
Freya handed him money again, “You can continue working or choose to start a business.”
After a brief thought, Zane took the money calmly and said, “I understand what you mean.”
Seeing Zane off, Freya sat downstairs for a while before heading up.
When she opened the door, no one was inside.
“Elijah…”
Before she could finish her sentence, someone embraced her from behind!
Her nerves tensed, she couldn’t help but stammer, “Who?!”
