Zane said, “It’s my job to wake you up.”
Freya was confused.
Zane came to apologize to her that day, saying that he shouldn’t have been angry with her and shouldn’t have rejected her, and that he was willing to accept the job she arranged. Freya wondered if this was the job he meant.
Freya laughed and asked, “Elijah assigned you the job of waking me up?”
“Mr Silverton asked me to take you to see the venue for tomorrow’s wedding. Most of the decorations are already done, and you can see if there’s anything you’re not satisfied with. There’s still time today to make changes. I took the liberty of waking you up because you couldn’t wake up on time.” Zane explained.
“Mr Silverton?” Freya looked at him.
Zane said, “He’s going to be my boss from now on, so I have to address him that way. I don’t want to give the impression at work that I’m relying on connections and lacking competence. I have to make something of myself.”
Freya had to look at him with admiration, “You have this kind of determination. It shows that you’ve grown up.”
Zane rolled his eyes, “I was already an adult. Get up quickly, I’ll be waiting downstairs.”
“I got it.”
Freya stretched and yawned. She got dressed and went downstairs to meet Zane.
Linda saw her and said, “I wanted to stop him from coming upstairs to wake you up, but I couldn’t.”
“It’s okay, I should wake up anyway,” Freya replied.
She had a quick breakfast and left with Zane. Zane drove, and after about half an hour, they arrived at the wedding venue. The location was the iconic building in Urbora City, the Global Tower. The car stopped, and Zane handed the keys to the security guard, instructing them to park in the underground garage. Parking was not allowed on top to ensure smooth traffic for the wedding tomorrow. Elijah had mentioned that there would be reporters at the wedding venue tomorrow, and he had promised exclusive coverage to an entertainment website.
Freya took a step forward, with Zane following behind. As they entered the venue, she was stunned by the sight before her. The whole place could accommodate two thousand people and two hundred banquet tables. With its gentle milk tea color and elegant drapes, it felt like a romantic French film, calm and serene yet full of excitement, showcasing exquisite beauty and romance in every corner.
Soon, someone greeted them, including a foreigner. But he spoke in the local language fluently.
“Miss Stone?” he greeted with a smile.
Freya nodded lightly, and he seemed to know that she was here to inspect the venue, so he had the lights turned on.
As the lights came on, the venue didn’t become brighter, but rather, it became more profound with dark hues. Warm yellow and slightly orange-tinted lights, strategically placed, created a dreamy atmosphere. The faint scent of flowers wafted through the air, filling her nostrils. Closing her eyes, she felt as if she were in a garden.
“If there’s anything you’re not satisfied with, I can still make changes,” the wedding planner said.
Freya waved her hand, saying, “No need, I think it’s already perfect.”
The wedding planner smiled proudly, confident in his talent.
Freya looked around and was very satisfied. “Zane, let’s go!”
Zane seemed to like it too. “I wish Luna and I could have a wedding like this in the future.”
“What did you say?” Freya’s footsteps halted.
She turned around and stared at him.
Zane corrected himself, “I didn’t say anything, let’s go.”
Freya clearly heard him mention Luna. She couldn’t help but sigh in her heart. She couldn’t control matters of the heart. As they reached the entrance, Freya noticed that there were many people outside.
“They’re journalists,” Zane said.
Freya frowned, journalists?
Before she could comprehend why so many journalists suddenly appeared, someone shouted, and there were talks of someone wanting to jump off the building. Freya stepped out a bit and looked up, only to see a figure. Due to the distance, she couldn’t make out their appearance. Even though the person wasn’t standing on the rooftop but rather on a third of the way up the building.
“Who is that? Isn’t this bad luck?” Zane’s tone clearly showed his displeasure.
Freya had a bad feeling too. When someone jumped off a building, the first ones to respond should be the fire department, not journalists. Someone must be trying to cause trouble.
“Zane, come with me upstairs.”
Freya turned around and headed inside.
